Do Muslim punishments (e.g for adultery) apply to non-Muslims in Muslim society?
-
Here is a scenario (not my idea)
A non-Muslim man and woman have been caught committing fornication by a group of ten Qur'an-only Muslims who decide to "pitilessly" flog the pair in obedience to Qur'an verse 2402
the fornicatress and the fornicator, flog each of them a hundred stripes, and let not pity for them detain you in the matter of obedience to Allah, if you believe in Allah and the last day, and let a party of believers witness their chastisement.
As the hapless pair are being dragged away to have their lashes, a large group of their friends and family appear from round a corner, see what's happening and proceed to roughly drag the Qur'an-only Muslims off the "guilty" pair in an effort to free them. Are the Muslims,in the sight of Allah, being aggressed against in this situation?

But if such were the case, of finding two adulterers in fragante, people can't just drag them. They must be brought before a judge, The judge must be able to question the witnesses properly, and hand a sentence. What you are describing is a lashing lynching. If that were permissible, people could do that to anybody they hated or wanted mistreated. I think that is precisely the reason why thos ayas of An nur were revealed, to stop "inicitiative against others without proper thought and transparence. Because the ayas, besides, say, to bring forth witnesses, not to he witnesses to go and execute justice. So the jusge or court are assumed, I think. Also they must be sure of what they saw, that it did not appear, but that it was in fact. It doesn't matter whether we are convinced that what we saw was what we think, we are not giving witness as to what we think or the judge must think but of what we saw, because that is what is being judged, not what we thought.
So, as far as I can judge, the hypothesis does not work.
Concerning whether it is applicable to non muslims, if such situation ever arose, in which muslims could have a justice for themselves anywhere, I do agree, it could not be imposed on non muslims. They would have their justice, I suppose.

Your mind is working kinda overtime here. I agree with huruf, this isn't vigilante justice we are talking about...No quran alone heroes in capes or denims and stetsons strutting about with whips at the ready scenario I can envision when dealing with matters of such import.

I would free the man and woman (whether they're muslim, christians, buddhist, atheist whatever it does not matter) I would not flog them...
No matter whatever books said..The same thing if I see in front of my eyes an old man named Abraham trying to kill his own son due to his claim that he 'receives such commands from God'.
I will try my best to free the kid and put some senses into the old man named Abraham....The same attitude I shall employ with Jesus crucifixion, stoning to death punishment in Torah or whatever...
Dogmatic commandment makes people lost their senses and conscience.. let's stop it...

Is it safe to say that Anything is Dogmatic? Morals and Dogma ring a bell?
In other words are we going to say whose to say what is morally right or wrong or dogmatic? So ultimate freedom is the law of the land? -
Essentially I would look at it this way......
if those who were meting out punishment felt they were unblemished themselves to met out punishment were interupted by a family who were trying to prevent the punishment then If I were the punsiher (law upholder) I would reason that god would judge both sinner and those who aid them ie family accordingly and having to allow them to be dragged away is neither here nore there.......god is the judge of all things hail
