Border line issues
There are some issues which recur all the time and do not fail to elecit plenty of polemic and even verbal fights on principle. May be euthanasia, suicide, as there is currently a thread, induced abortion, etc. In most cases the problem for many may be absolutely right or wrong. For others it is a matter of where to draw the line between the permissible and the unpermissible. Usually they are things tht mostly we can do very little about, because they constants of life.
What is the significance of these issues. ?Could it be that they are there to sharpen our judgement? ?To improve our understanding of our own nature and of our own conduct and to develop compassion and justice?
For me, it is obvious that we are not going to solve those issues ever, but we wil always have to struggle to behave morally in each case.

you are right. these are not easy issues. i know where i stand on some issues and where i draw my line. on others, i am not sure. i rely on God to guide me to do right. at the end of the day, i hope that i have done right by God.
i have had passionate and at times emotional discussions on these 'borderline issues'. it is one thing to have lofty discussions on various issues and talk about what you will or won't do or what others should do but another when you are thrust into the situation yourself or get to know or see first hand the issues that others are dealing with. one thing for sure, my experiences/exposure have lead me to be more understanding.

Yes, I see what you mean and you are right, as far as I can see. This kind of issues will never do to see who is right or who is wrong or who is good or bad, unless it is on the extremes of the question. But I think God throws them on us, for the same reason that he throws everything else to make us know, and struggle in his way.
As you rightly say, to be more understanding, to help go through those trials, also to help people who have not yet got to that point but are still in time to avoid it, to get there. It may be a trial for those who are subject to those situations , but also for those around and the whole society.
