    Hello,

Does anyone here knows for certain what do Initials in the beginning of the chapters mean?

Has anyone been inspired for them?

    Peace,
    R.

In the opening of the Quran, chapter 2, one finds some initials, that are commonly interpreted as "untranslatable".

However it is highly likely that these initials represent an abbreviation, of what is to come, in the chapter.

For instance, in chapter 2, these initials may be translated as T.T.B, as in This is The Book.

I am sure that highly likely translations are possible, by looking at the content of the nearby verses, probably the following verse.

      Peace Be With You.

Thanks for the explanation brother. You might be right, that these initials may be translated in that way, however it is also possible that the original meaning of these letters have been lost, since the islamic traditions have imposed their corruption version and hence erased its meaning.

This video is un-quranic. It is highly inspired by sunnism and islamic traditions(hadith), mixed with personal conjectures. 'Muslim country' vs. 'non-muslim country' is NOT a teaching from quran but a teaching from sunnism nor is Jazia necessarily about money. The idea about Jazia being about money is also derived from sunnism.

The verse is like this ''Fight against such of those who have been given the Scripture as believe not in Allah nor the Last Day, and forbid not that which Allah hath forbidden by His messenger, and follow not the Religion of Truth, until they pay the tribute readily, being brought low''

Note ''Those who have been given the Scripture'' is NOT a country or people from a certain country. So the example in the video of a non muslim country paying to a muslim country after a war is based on sunnism and ahadith. And follow not the Religion of Truth, until they pay the tribute readily, being brought low clearly states that its not about money, otherwise it would mean that you should wait for the other part to pay money and THAN you could follow your religion, which is not logical.

Lastely FIGHT is not the same as WAR.

study the whole subject and all the explanations in appendices , you will understand about the initials.

I agree with you. It would spare a lot of time if people made some research first. I really like the masjid tucson site, it really clearify many quranic points. Thanks anyways

                And may God bless you

Arabic is a language of syllables. Consonant without vowel does not contain a sound conveying meanings. Consonants placed in a peculiar sequence as Root have perception and meanings infolded therein. Words are structured by combining consonants and vowels which convey basic meanings infolded in the Root with additional meanings and connotation attached with particular "frames-moulds" of structuring words.

There is no vowel on First letter and two consonants both of which have prolongation sign. It is just an Ayat, reflective of the basic and foremost meanings of its Root. The basic perception and meanings infolded in the Root " " of is that of any physical mark, indication, landmark, or a discernible sign which one can cognize, perceive and save in memory with reference to its surroundings and dimensions. Since it has no verbal message in it, that is why no one is asked to bring one Ayat like this.

So called Mystery of Initial Letter/Consonants
