Peace All,
If anyone has the Science Channel and is interested, the most recent episode of "Science at the Edge" profiled a case where doctors 'rewired' a quadripalegic, allowing him to walk and use his hands.
Basically, they put a transmitter in his body that was wired to his spine and allowed electrical impulses to be sent down the spinal cord. It's a small step, albeit, an amazing one. He said just being able to walk with a walker to his car and go food shopping means freedom for him.
The episode also touched on stem-cell progress, and nanotechnology.
It will be played again today at 200pm and 500pm Eastern time in the USA.
Peace,
Tay
