But, is it the "Momin Way"???

    Salam and Peace!

A young boy was once watching cricket match between Pakistan and any country (don't remember).
I said, there are better things than this to do.

He said, "Is watching cricket haram in Al-Quran?"
I said, "No, watching cricket is not declared as Haram in Al-Quran.---But tell me one thing, you are watching cricket match, shouting, enjoying,---meanwhile, there is a big lion in ambush behind you and about to jump at you. And someone informs of that. Will you still watch cricket match, fours, sixes, clean bold, wow guggly???"
The boy looked at me, and said, "No, I will run for my life."

I said, "Allah says Hell is in ambush for insaan."
-----"Indeed, Hell is a place of ambush. For the rebellious, a dwelling place." (AnNaba-21,22)

I said, "What is more dangerous,-----lion or Hell?"
    He said, "Hell."

I said, "Allah says Hell is for rebillious. And rebillious are criminals who indulge in worldly enjoyments, sports and show-offs, and forget the Hereafter and the Hell."
-----"Eat and enjoy for a while, indeed, you are criminals. Woe that day to the deniers." (Al-Mursalaat-46,47)

And deniers are those who forget the Hereafter, and eat, play and enjoy their worldly life.

I asked, "Will you not remember the Hereafter and the Hell? Will you still watch cricket?"
There was fear in his eyes. "No!" was the answer.

Do people have enough time to enjoy sports,-----when Allah says Hell is in ambush for those who don't remember The Hereafter and The Hell? They are the rebillious?
-----"Indeed, Hell is a place of ambush. For the rebellious, a dwelling place." (AnNaba-21,22)

"The life of this world has been beautified for the disbelievers, and they ridicule those who believe. And those who fear (Allah) will be above them on the Day of Resurrection." (Al-Baqarah-212)
When a true momin who fears Allah, do not watch cricket match, the disbelievers ridicule him.-----Is it not so???

We have been sent in this world to prepare for The Hereafter.

Either forget the Hereafter and enjoy this life,---Or---remember the Eternal Enjoyment and run for it.
-----"Indeed, those who hope not their meeting with Us, and are content with the life of the world, and are satisfied with it. And those who are neglectful of Our Revelations. Those, their abode will be the Fire because of what they used to earn." (Younus-7,

Their earnings is cricket, world cup, gold medal, fours, sixes, wow gugly, careless laughters, enjoyments-----in this ending life.
Make haste, and earn as much as possible. Then there will be no time left, because Hell is lurking.
Gather this ending enjoyment, won't get another chance,-----maybe the death angel is on his way.
-----"Indeed, those who hope not their meeting with Us, and are content with the life of the world, and are satisfied with it. And those who are neglectful of Our Revelations. Those, their abode will be the Fire because of what they used to earn." (Younus-7,

And for those, who are gathering The Hereafter
-----"Indeed, those who believe and do righteous deeds, their Lord will guide them because of their faith. Rivers will flow beneath them in the Gardens of Delight." (Younus-9)
People who do righteous deeds, do they waste their precious time in watching cricket??? Although it is not haram.

-----"The Day when they will see that which they are promised as though they had not stayed but an hour of day."(Al-Ahqaaf-35)
Yes,-----an hour of enjoyments and show-offs,-----and forgetfullness, carelessness, foolishness!

-----"A Clear Message (delivered). So shall (any) be destroyed except the disobedient people." (Al-Ahqaaf-35)

But people still argue, "Hey, what's wrong in it!"
    They don't pay heed.
-----"A Clear Message (delivered). So shall (any) be destroyed except the disobedient people." (Al-Ahqaaf-35)

Then for those who are careless of The Hereafter
-----"Eat and enjoy for a while, indeed, you are criminals. Woe that day to the deniers." (Al-Mursalaat-46,47)

And when it will be The Judgement Day, time spent in this world will be become Zero.
    Past is gone!
What is now in hand for the next life???

    Who cares???-----And who believes???
Let's eat McDonald, drink Pepsi,-----and enjoy the cricket world cup!

Thank you for five minutes of entertainment, Brother! A much needed one to lighten up a hectic and stressful day.

Anyway, seriously, there is nothing wrong with a bit of entertainment. Watching crickets/movies/entertainment is part of the fine things of life that we get to enjoy. Everything in moderation. As long as you're not stuck for hours and hours (and end up doing nothing in youf life), then it should be okay. The key is not trangressing the limits, and a healthy balance between worldly and afterlife affairs.

        Salaam.

If you are fulfilling the criteria in Sura 25 and 231-10 etc. (i.e. the Qur'an) then that is fine. This is another reason why five salaat is recommended (without pushing the actual Qur'anic view!). I mentioned in my article on salaat that we are expected to remember Allah (SWT) standing, sitting and lying, and the proof/effects of this is that we do not neglect the duties of the Qur'an. You do not have to cease remembering Him to enjoy cricket. The same question can be asked about people who have jobs but watch cricket sometimes! Just common sense. As for those who are famous or earn much money, they can use their influence/wealth to support a worthwhile cause.

            Peace.

Say "Who has forbidden the nice things that God has brought forth for His servants and the good provisions?" Say "It is for those who believe in this worldly life, and it will be exclusive for them on the day of resurrection" It is such that We explain the revelations for those who know.

Today I learned, all the hell verses are about Cricket. Thanks for that.

But using a computer that you access the internet on isn't 'enjoyment' is it? Blatant hypocrisy or just epic trolling. I'm going with the latter, how can you be in position to observe a 'boy watching cricket' if you yourself weren't watching it?

In any case, thanks for the laughs. I really thought we couldn't get any stupider in this world, and I got proven wrong once again.

Needed to post again to point out how hilariously stupid this thread is. It wasted more of people's time than any sports match ever did.

Interesting verses. Irrelevant but interesting nonetheless. I suppose you think pasting those verses somehow makes your thread less stupid? It doesn't. Still stupid. Still a waste of space.

You know, in my new place, we can hear crickets chirping all night long (some are even still chirping after 10 AM).

... but now there is only silence
