stories of messengers

i would like to ask regarding the stories of lets say jesus, moses, solomon and other messengers....
were they real people who actually existed?
or are their stories just symbolic and a metaphor for something else?because there are quite a few same stories of different people,
noah's ark story is not only one, theres same story about someone else years before noah of flood and ark....
or story of moses, theres another story of someone else also thrown in basket in river and found by royalty....so were these people real or what?

Some of the stories do not have a lot of connection. The only thing that Noah has in common with the Gilgamesh epic is a flood. The themes of each story are completely different. It is possible that Moses' childhood story could be borrowed from other sources. I personally think that Moses was Egyptian, or so Egyptian in culture that whatever genetic connection he had to the children of Israel was overshadowed by his upbringing. I have been told that there are Egyptian source materials verifying Moses' existence, and that he was portrayed as an evil sorcerer, but I cannot confirm this. Though it has been redacted somewhat, I believe portions of Josephus' account of Jesus are legit.
My personal opinion is that it does not matter. However, I'd also argue that even though these people may have similarities to other myths, there is no question who has had more of an impact on history. Which stories have shaped human history more? Gilgamesh or Noah? Moses or a similar story? Jesus or Mithras/Bacchus/some other similar figure? The fact that these people have had a much more significant impact on human history, art, ethics, philosophy, religion, etc, points to the possibility that they were real people with flesh-and-blood stories that have "stuck" in our consciousness.

won't matter a lot, anyways a Story in the Qur'an is not for history, it is for taking morals or taking the right decisions in your life, but of course every one has the Mohamed/Jesus/Moses..etc in himself. And we ALL must follow Abraham's way of thinking and logic...we must.

I would say that they are very much real people, with real stories, in which there are lessons for us all...
12111 In their stories is a lesson for those who possess intelligence. It is not a narration that has been invented, but an authentication of what is between his hands and a detailing of all things, and a guidance and a mercy for a people who believe.
