We believe there is no compulsion in religion and that we should not attack aggressors. Suppose hypothetically that Saudi Arabia (i.e. the people) suddenly changed its religion to somethingl like ultra-fundamentalist agnosticism. It decided to build a hospital in place of the Kaaba and Sacred Mosque (I know some will say that is Jerusalem, so the same applies). There is no longer anything there except a hospital for kids etc.. It is no longer an option for people to make a pilgrimage and perform the rites (they decided to build something like an important university on Arafat).

What in your opinion should "Qur'an-alone" Muslims do?

      Good for Saudi Arabia!
Although the hospital should be free of charges... any persons (regardless of sects) and even those without 'proper health insurance' could get their treatment there for free...
      What a wonderful idea!

Back to the way of Abraham (Millata Ibrahim)... he built a 'free hotel', offering free lodging and meal for travelers..
Combining it with the way of Jesus (free health and medical services)
Really a great idea! Truly a sanctuary for all mankind..

Transforming from a place which (annually) took many lives into a place which save many lives..

"I hate, I despise your religious feasts; I cannot stand your assemblies. Even though you bring Me burnt offerings and grain offerings, I will not accept them. Though you bring choice fellowship offerings, I will have no regard for them. Away with the noise of your songs! I will not listen to the music of your harps.
But let justice roll on like a river, righteousness like a never-failing stream!"
      (Amos 521-24)

      Salam / Peace

        In my opinion?

Celebrate! No more rock-worship. No more would people waste money in an effort to feel closer to GOD--money that could have been better spent on charity or other good causes. How many lives could have been saved with the money spent on just one pilgrimage? As practiced today, the pilgrimage seems (to me) to be a stain on the name of Islam.

Not attack aggressors? Is that a typo?

No typo but it was there as I am interested to see if there is any disagreement on this topic. As far as I am aware a "masjid" is a place of prayer and need not have a building. It is still possible to me.

          Cheers

AFAIK Quran does not state a specific place for al HJJ etc.

The place is wherever fulfils the criteria given in Quran.

So, it would not bother me if they did that.

All information is correct to the best of my knowledge only and thus should not be taken as a fact. One should always seek knowledge and verify for themselves when possible: 17:36, 20:114, 35:28, 49:6, 58:11.

How about someone take my home + few more homes of others around me for such a great cause and make hospital, university, etc for the benefit of mankind. Does my home or our homes must be a fixed place in a building covered with brick and mortar. I may seek refuge on a daily basis in various places with various people and dont need a bayt / house for my day to day needs.

And really, this prayer, pilgrimmage, etc is really causing stain to religion with a lot of waste of money. How about applying the same concept on Las Vegas and similar areas like 5-star hotels offering open opportunities of prostitution, gambling, etc to people. Let us have charity hospital in those places as well in place of places that cause stain to the society similar to the one causing stain due to pilgrimmage. Oh! maybe that's not a good idea, because the civilized world and their business pursuits need structures like those in Vegas and those galaxy start hotels. Lets demolish Baytullah. That is the most reasonable solution and no one has any issues with it. Atleast I am happy that a place causing stain to our society would be destroyed.
