Nowhere in the reading will you find that you should do a handstand and a roll over every morning after waking up. If it's not in there, it's not in there. Now you can bring up whatever "islamic" ritual you want, but if it's not in the book, then why even bother? Shall you seek other than the god as a judge when he has sent down to you the book fully detailed?

    Abdelilah

    Exactly my question bro ...

      Salam,

You raised a very good question. The collection of Qur'an. The closest I could investigate led me to the oldest quran(compiled as a one body book) available. The stories behind the collections are not trust worthy and the Saudi Government does a good job at not allowing anyone to carry our serious archaeological hunts in places of interest. As a believer, the message and its strength satisfied me. But its difficult to satisfy my archaeologically tuned part of the brain in a world infested with complete hadith based understanding of everything. If you find any interesting things about compilation, please share

Now we're talking the same language )

Historically the first book shaped Quran did not exist till at least 38 years of Prophet Muhammad's death ... Please note that there was no such thing as a Written Quran during Prophet's life.

Question is, could that have been a similar memory recollection process at the time when the Quran was being converted into a book shape, what could be the other way round it ?

        More ideas ?

          Salam,

By the way, I forgot to mention something. If you read the Qur'an you will notice that in many places, the idea that Muhammad could not write/read are refuted. And in some places, the recital refers to hard copy. This un-twisted my brain and made me reconsider the classical story line of compilation and writing down of the surahs and their arrangements. I am busy researching other things. So forgive me, but if you use the search function on the top right corner, you should be able to find such discussions.

This is the book in which there is no doubt, a guidance for the righteous.

Read in the name of your lord who has created. He created man from an embryo. Read, and your lord is the generous one. The one who taught by the pen.

You can't claim that it was written some 40 years later when the quran/reading speaks of itself as a book that should be read. These and many other verses emphasize the importance of reading and writing. The messenger spent years spreading the message while being laughed at, insulted, fought against, persecuted etc. And in all those years, it never occurred to him to write it down and preserve it?

                  Sir,

With due respect, there are some serious errors in your post.

                  Iqra means Recite not Read
Embryo word is not used, in fact there is already a lengthy intelectual debate going on about the Quran's interpretation of CLOT and its closed association with the Ancient understanding from Greek Philospers

Are you saying that the Quran was being written in a Book form from the day one when the Revelations started ? By whom if yes ?

                  Peace

                    Peace.

964 clearly says that we should iqra/read by him who taught by the pen. Concerning the word "3alaq"; I simply copy-pasted the Free-Minds translation.

That it existed as a written document is clear. By whom? Probably the prophet himself, maybe copied by scribes. But this is all conjecture. We don't know and probably will never know.

To get back to your first post; may I ask why you quoted the hadith about Zayd disliking the meat slaughtered on the pagans' stone altars? Do you believe that story to be true and that his preference became a divine order later? Because if you do, I can tell you another story about how verses of some poet were also later included in the god's scripture. Or how everything was first written down on pieces of cloth, leather, bones, leaf stalks of date palms and stones until Abu Bakr. Such stories undermine the great reading and the messenger's competence, but these are just that - stories.

Once again, Iqra means Recite. Plus what you're saying is just another speculation, there is no evidence that Quran existed in a book form and Prophet himself or his companions were writing while he was alive.

I guess, its quite irrelevant that what I think or believe about this particular incident, what I think will be my personal opinion and wouldnt help to establish a fact here. The reason I posted this question was to have a debate about an issue we didnt think about before.

I dont believe it was a wrong thing asking question.

                      Peace.

                        Once again, Iqra means Recite.

Repeating something often enough, does not make it true.

Plus what you're saying is just another speculation

And what you brought is proof? The whole story about Othman collecting the great reading is fiction.

there is no evidence that Quran existed in a book form and Prophet himself or his companions were writing while he was alive.

The signs of the great reading are not proof enough for you?

There is no debate at all. Again, the whole Zayd story is just another fiction story undermining the great reading.

I take your point, you've given enough arguments from your side. I reserve the right not to agree with your points and continue seeking a debate here with others.

                            Salam,

Raheel is correct about his food, ie food given to him. Speculating, he follows, obeys whoever feeds him.

Satan threatens you with poverty and orders you to immorality, while Allah promises you forgiveness from Him and bounty. And Allah is all-Encompassing and Knowing.

To change people, focus on their stomach.
And when you said, "O Moses, we can never endure one food. So call upon your Lord to bring forth for us from the earth its green herbs and its cucumbers and its garlic and its lentils and its onions." said, "Would you exchange what is better for what is less? Go into settlement and indeed, you will have what you have asked." And they were covered with humiliation and poverty and returned with anger from Allah . That was because they disbelieved in the signs of Allah and killed the prophets without right. That was because they disobeyed and were transgressing.

Let's plant and Grow food and feed people.
Do you not see that Allah sends down rain from the sky, and We produce thereby fruits of varying colors? And in the mountains are tracts, white and red of varying shades and extremely black.
