    Greetings and Peace, all group

    Questions are underlined.

262 Surely those who believe; and those who are Jewish, and the Nazarenes, and the Sabians, whoever of them believes in GOD and the Last Day and does good works; they will have their recompense with their Lord, and there is no fear upon them, nor will they grieve.

The passage does NOT state "GOD alone." GOD does not run out of words, and AQ is deliberate in every word. Does the above passage apply to polytheists or not?

986 Those who rejected from the people of the Book and the polytheists are in the fires of Hell abiding therein, those are the worst of creation.

In this passage, are polytheists lumped in with rejecters from the people of the Book--or are rejecters among the polytheists lumped with rejecters from the people of the Book?

AQ warns against polytheism--it is not part of the deen. Not everybody on earth subscribes to the deen in AQ. Are the warnings against polytheism only for the followers of the deen?

    ALLAH knows best.

    peace

Easy question to answer but it was painful finding this answer which is actually so obvious.

      ALLAH = truth.

Kafir = Reject ALLAH = reject truth.

Anyone denying truth = soon to recieve punishment, forgiveness or hellfire.

      Mumin = accept truth alone.

Muslim = pledge to accept truth.

          262

Inna allatheena amanoo wallatheenahadoo wannasara wassabi-eenaman amana biAllahi walyawmi al-akhiriwaAAamila salihan falahum ajruhum AAinda rabbihimwala khawfun AAalayhim wala hum yahzanoon

Indeed, those who believed and those who were Jews or Christians or Sabeans - those who believed in Allah and the Last Day and did righteousness - will have their reward with their Lord, and no fear will there be concerning them, nor will they grieve.

          The verse stated "Allah".

It doesn't say God either; it says the god (allah). And the god has no partners, he is one god. So if you believe in gods, then none of those you believe in is the god. They only exist in your imagination, while the god is real.

Polytheism equals disbelief. The quran is full of this ("those who ascribe partners to Allah&quot.

It doesn`t matter if they believe in one chief God, if they say sons, daughters, partners, equals or whatever.

So believe in a single God.

              Peace.

                Greetings and Peace, all group

There are passages throughout AQ where "ALLAH alone" is used.

4084 So when they saw Our might, they said "We believe in God alone, and we reject all the partners we used to set up!"

4012 This is because when God alone was mentioned, you rejected, but when partners were set up with Him, you believed. Therefore, the judgment is for God, the Most High, the Great.

3945 And when God alone is mentioned, the hearts of those who do not believe in the Hereafter are filled with aversion; and when others are mentioned besides Him, they rejoice!

770 They said "Have you come to us to serve God alone and abandon what our fathers had served? Bring us what you promise if you are of the truthful ones!"

604 There has been a good example set for you by Abraham and those with him, when they said to their people "We are innocent from you and what you serve besides God. We have rejected you, and it appears that there shall be animosity and hatred between us and you until you believe in God alone." Except for the saying of Abraham to his father "I will ask forgiveness for you, but I do not possess any power to protect you from God." Our Lord, we have put our trust in You, and we turn to You, and to You is the final destiny.

The following passages also reference ALLAH alone (AQ 15, 240, 641, 1746, 474).

If it isn't redundant above, why would it be redundant in AQ 262? hmm

                ALLAH knows best.

                peace

I am convinced that allah doesn't translate God

                  Ileh = a Law
                  Allah = The law

notice, when god speaks to us about rules/laws/haram and hallal etc.. he calls himself Allah
when speaks about generating life, descendance etc... he cals himself Rahman, that is close to Woumb / Matrix in pluriel
when he speaks about food / wealth etc.. he calls himself RABB

sometimes he calls himself ANA, like in surah TAHA when talking to moses, when he says it is me ANA allah etc..

so assoiating another ileh with allah simply means associting another Law with his LAW ( ALLAH )

                    Salam,

Interesting theory but I don't think it's right that it means the Law.
look at surat al ikhlas Say, "He is Allah , One, Allah , the Eternal Refuge He neither begets nor is born, Nor is there to Him any equivalent."

A law is been made, something that s been beget while Allah is not born or beget

                      ???

                      Proof?

                      Peace,

ALLAH has been called al-haqq throughout the quran. That is, truth of the highest degree. His command/speech is truth (3884). Iblis did not accept his command/speech/truth (3874) and this act turned him into a rejector of truth. Firon's magicians accepted the truth when it came to them, when they were before rejectors. You cannot fault this interpretation because if ALLAH is indeed the truth then there is literally no way it can be wrong. As for the rest of the terms, a cross reference of these verses is all you need to clarify their meanings.

Why the truth interpretation? Because the idea of "believer" and "disbeliever" requires faith and faith is gambling on ignorance which is prohibited (1736). For such a thing to matter there is the assumption that there are many possible religions/truths/systems that all likely could be true. Is ALLAH uncertain about his creation?

Now if ALLAH knows for himself that He is the highest truth and his system is assured truth & justice, and that there can be no fault for those who follow his path of obvious and clear truth standing out from error, then why would his most esteemed people (mumin) be a bunch of people thinking "Yeah.... I'm kinda hoping this is all true"? Because that is what "belief" is!

Rather, the mumin are certain to meet their creator and they know how, why, when, where, they know the details, there is no room in their hearts to turn back. Can you turn back to thinking 2+2=5 after you know 2+2=4? It just doesn't work. "Muslims" are those who have faith, mumin know with certainty.

Key point; the truth can be proven to be true. A belief about higher beings can never be tested because only the true belief exists, the others are all unfalsifiable. Indeed "belief/disbelief" is simply a weaker statement than acceptance/rejection. If you accept/see truth, you believe anyway. If you believe, you do not necessarily need to see truth, you can hope/imagine it's there. How useless!

@OPF Are you saying that highest truth is an attribute, or that it is the sum total? Also, are you saying that a person has to know the truth in order to reject it? confused

Knowing and accepting is better than belief and accepting, ISA, ...and yet AQ uses the phrase "those who believe" in AQ 262 (and elsewhere). Apparently, even belief is worthy of merit.

                        ALLAH knows best.

                            Peace,

ALLAH is the ultimate reality, the only thing that can actually be proven to exist. A lot of people hold the backwards thinking that "phenomena" are the only thing that can be proven to exist. This is not true, it's both ways round. Reality/ALLAH, therefore our perception. Not just; our perception, therefore reality/ALLAH. The latter is true but contestable by the foolish who guide the discussion into logical errors. The prior is uncontestable, none can deny that which caused them to exist.

His witness is the true perception of all things. He decides what is true and what is false, that is his will, his word "Be". None can overrule or reverse his decision. His speech is the unquestionable truth.

Suppose I committed a crime and concealed it as perfectly as can be done. I wipe out all the traces. No man or jinn could claim I committed that crime and provide any evidence. However it is true that the crime was committed. And for me to deny this is to deny something I know myself. And I cannot EVER be a "mumin" about this, even with the universe's worth in "faith"/"belief" will not render that lie true.

"Believer" is an inaccurate translation. Another implication of the word is security/trust. And the only certain security is with the undeniable truth which is ALLAH. Otherwise, there would be no useful reason to distinguish the hypocrites from the believers. There would be no use to distinguish "Muslim" from "Mumin". Once one is acquainted with ALLAH, there is no room for the heart to shake. The prophets could never be munafiq. Stumbling in the dark, one may possibly find their way out of the room. But who is more secure in the darkness than the one who brought his torch?

"Also, are you saying that a person has to know the truth in order to reject it?" - The statement that ALLAH uses about the rejectors is that they gave the lie to the truth; they declared ALLAH's word to be false. Iblis became a rejector after he rejected, not before. As for 262, there are many things we think could be "Al-Haqq" e.g. "God", or "the universe" or "myself" or "what I see". But only knowledge of judgement day and good works lead to Al-Haqq of Al-Haqq.

Hope that answers your questions/clarifies. If it doesn't, read your quran, open your mind, and you will see the undeniable truth. I do not need to prove anything to you about it nor are we under any obligation to do so.

In my overstanding (yeah, you know you like that), the "problem" with polytheism is this ultimately, it represents an unholistic/disassociated interpretation of reality. There is no god but Allah doesn't represent a dictate from a tyrannical deity, it represents the ultimate oneness of being. Personally, I see God in everything; so I suppose I could be accused of pantheism (fyi-I believe God is both immanent and transcendent--in a word, INFINITE). I just read a Koran verse last week that stated something like "all will perish but Allah (something like that)." This feeds into my oneness of being philosophy. I will type more on this subject later; it is late and I am tired. And I will try to find that specific verse.

Oh yeah, it is nice to be back.

I have still not been able to find that verse. I'm sure it will come to me later. However, I will continue my explanation of what I started last night.

The reason I can be accused of pantheism is because I see Allah in all of Allah's creation, i.e. physical matter. However, that does not mean I worship any physical matter (an idol), but I acknowledge Allah's essence in my physical surroundings. So while I see Allah's essence in this bush I see out the window, I do not worship this bush as Allah. It's kind of a zen thing, so maybe I'll be in Paradise once this resolves itself.

To further dig myself farther into a grave (amongst orthodox monotheists of all labels), I ultimately do not see a difference between monotheism and polytheism. Actually, I do, but they don't really matter. I think the importance of monotheism is that it makes everything connected; different deities did not create different breeds of humans, which would give humans another excuse to kill/torture each other (as if humans need another excuse to do that). If a person acknowledges that everything came from the same Source (no matter what name you give to that Source), then that creates a connection which makes it extremely difficult to disrespect the life-force of another sentient being.

I think polytheism is just an illusion of separateness, and that is why it might not be good. I don't really believe in polytheism in the sense that I don't think separate entities are really separate. For example, I think that the gods and goddesses of Hinduism are simply different energy frequencies of the ONE SOURCE. I know some people don't like that, but that's ONENESS OF BEING for you.

I have still not been able to find that verse. I'm sure it will come to me later.

The reason I can be accused of pantheism is because I see Allah in all of Allah's creation, i.e. physical matter. However, that does not mean I worship any physical matter (an idol), but I acknowledge Allah's essence in my physical surroundings.

Be aware, that the East and the West are exclusively in the governance of Allah, the Exalted, therefore, for that reason, in whatever angle/direction should you people cause yourselves to turn confronting that direction, the presence/Countenance of Allah, the Exalted you will find to the farthest thereat since the fact is that Allah, the Exalted is certainly beyond bounds/He is eternally above limits, eternally all-Knowing.

Mazhar, you are correct; the verse I was looking for is 2888. Maulana Muhammad Ali's translation is

"And call not with Allah any other god. There is no God but He. Everthing will perish but He. (emphasis is mine) His is the judgment, and to Him you will be brought back."

I think that once you get into eternity, and concepts such as Ultimate Reality, there exists nothing but Allah.

"There is no God but He" is wrong, better there is no god but Hu, or Allah!

Any god is for the worship, even the god alone, but Allah is The Reality, and The Reading (Quran) calls for Reason and common sense!

La illaha illAllah, means there are no gods.
La ilahe ill-Allah = ?There is no GOD, only ALLAH?

?Set not up with ALLAH any GOD!" The KORAN, 2888

There is an interesting book by the Turkish author Ahmed Hulusi "Mohammed;s Allah", which can be downloaded/read here
