    Chapter 2

In the name of God, the Almighty, the Most Merciful

    1. A.L.M.
    2. This is the Scripture in which there is no doubt, a guide for the righteous.
    3. Those who believe in the unseen, and hold the contact-method, and from Our provisions to them they spend.
    4. And those who believe in what was sent down to you, and what was sent down before you, and regarding the Hereafter they are certain.
    5. These are the ones guided by their Lord, and these are the winners.
    6. As for those who reject, whether you warn them or do not warn them, they will not believe.
    7. God has sealed upon their hearts and upon their ears, and over their eyes are covers. They will incur a great retribution.
    8. And from the people are those who Say ?We believe in God and in the Last Day,? but they are not believers.
    9. They seek to deceive God and those who believe, but they only deceive themselves without noticing.
    10. In their hearts is a disease, so God increases their disease, and they will have a painful retribution for what they have denied.
    11. And if they are told ?Do not make mischief on Earth,? they Say ?But we are the reformers!?
    12. No, they are the mischief makers, but they do not perceive.
    13. And if they are told ?Believe, as the people have believed,? they Say ?Shall we believe as the fools have believed?? No, they are the fools but they do not know.
    14. And if they come across those who have believed, they Say ?We believe,? and when they are alone with their devils they Say ?We are with you, we were only mocking.?
    15. God mocks them, and leaves them prolonged in their transgression.
    16. These are the ones who have purchased straying for guidance; their trade did not profit them, nor were they guided.
    17. Their example is like one who lights a fire, so when it illuminates what is around him, God takes away his light and leaves him in the darkness not seeing.
    18. Deaf, dumb, and blind, they will not revert.
    19. Or like a cloud from the sky, in it is darkness and thunder and lightning. They place their fingers in their ears from the lightning strikes out of fear of death; and God is aware of the rejecters.
    20. The lightning nearly snatches away their sight, whenever it lights the path they walk in it, and when it becomes dark for them they stand. Had God willed, He would have taken away their hearing and their sight; God is capable of all things.
    21. O people, serve your Lord who has created you and those before you that you may be righteous.
    22. The One who made the land a habitat, and the sky a structure, and He sent down from the sky water with which He brought out fruit as a gift to you. So do not make any equals with God while you now know.
    23. And if you are in doubt as to what We have sent down to Our servant, then bring a chapter like this, and call upon your witnesses other than God if you are truthful.
    24. And if you cannot do this; and you will not be able to do this; then beware the Fire whose fuel is people and stones, it has been prepared for the rejecters.
    25. And give good news to those who believe and do good works, that they will have gardens with rivers flowing beneath. Every time they receive of its fruit, they Say ?This is what we have been provisioned before,? and they are given its likeness. And there they will have pure spouses, and in it they will abide.
    26. God does not shy away from citing the example of a mosquito, or anything above it. As for those who believe, they know that it is the truth from their Lord. As for the rejecters, they Say ?What does God want with this example?? He lets many stray by it, and He guides many, but He only lets stray the evildoers.
    27. The ones who break their pledge to God after making its covenant, and they sever what God had ordered to be delivered. And they make corruption on Earth; these are the losers.
    28. How can you reject God when you were dead and He brought you to life? Then He makes you die, then He brings you to life, then to Him you return.
    29. He is the One who created for you all that is on Earth, then He attend to the universe and made it seven universes, and He is aware of all things.
    30. And your Lord said to the Angels ?I am placing a successor on Earth.? They said ?Would You place in it he who would corrupt in it, and spill blood, while we sing Your glory, and praise You?? He said ?I know what you do not know.?
    31. And He taught Adam the description of all things, then He displayed them to the Angels and said ?Inform Me the descriptions of these things if you are truthful.?
    32. They said ?Glory be to You, we have no knowledge except that which You have taught us, You are the Knowledgeable, the Wise.?
    33. He said ?O Adam, inform them of the description of these,? so when he informed them of their descriptions, He said ?Did I not tell you that I know the unseen of heavens and Earth, and that I know what you reveal and what you were hiding??
    34. And We said to the Angels ?Submit to Adam,? so they submitted except for Satan, he refused and became arrogant, and became of the rejecters.
    35. And We said ?O Adam, reside you and your mate in the paradise, and eat from it bountifully as you both wish, and do not approach this tree, else you will be of those who did wrong.?
    36. So, the devil tricked them from it, and he brought them out from what they were in, and We said ?Descend, you are enemies of one another. And in the land shall be a stability for you and luxury for a while.?
    37. Adam then received words from His Lord, so He forgave him; He is the Forgiver, the Merciful.
    38. We said ?Descend from it all of you, so when the guidance comes from Me, then whoever follows My guidance, they will have nothing to fear, nor will they grieve.?
    39. And those who disbelieve and deny Our revelations, they are the dwellers of Hell, in it they will abide.
    40. O Children of Israel, remember My blessings that I had blessed you with, and fulfill your pledge to Me that I may fulfill My pledge to you, and revere Me alone.
    41. And believe in what I have sent down, authenticating what is already with you, and do not be the first to disbelieve in it! And do not purchase with My verses a cheap gain, and of Me you shall be aware.
    42. And do not confound the truth with falsehood, nor keep the truth secret while you know.
    43. And hold the contact-method, and contribute towards betterment, and kneel with those who kneel.
    44. Do you order the people to do good, but forget yourselves, while you are reciting the Scripture? Do you not understand?
    45. And seek help through patience, and the contact-method. It is a difficult thing, but not so for the humble.
    46. The ones who conceive that they will meet their Lord and that to Him they will return.
    47. O Children of Israel, remember My blessings that I had blessed you with, and that I had preferred you to all the worlds!
    48. And beware of a Day where no soul can avail another soul, nor will any intercession be accepted from it, nor will any ransom be taken, nor will they have supporters.
    49. And We saved you from the people of Pharaoh; they were punishing you with severe retribution, killing your children, and raping your women. In that was a great trial from your Lord.
    50. And We parted the sea for you, thus We saved you and drowned the people of Pharaoh while you were watching.

      Salaams all,
however insignificant,Allah did send the quran to make things clear and understandable - to clear up the falsified data in the Jewish and Biblical Books. But to many of us ,it has gone back in the quran not in the Arabic but to me in the translations,But i can't imagine why the arabs Knowing their language fully can't be shown it ?

In the ayat 250,It is i think the Magicians those of knowledge deviating from Pharoeh and siding with Allah because of the strenghth of the arguments of Moses taught to him by the Almighty not disrespecting any other views ,Heres one .

      From the Message.

      1. So the magicians went down in prostration. They said ?We believe in the Lord of Aaron and Moses.?
      2. He said ?Have you believed to him before taking my permission? He is surely your great one who has taught you magic. So, I will cut off your hands and feet from alternate sides, and I will crucify you on the trunks of the palm trees, and you will come to know which of us is greater in retribution and more lasting!?

And Allah then inspires Moses to travel ,after this above breakup in pharoes people-in 2077.

Now lets try translating ayat 250

The translation from the Message is

      1. And We parted the sea for you, thus We saved you and drowned the people of Pharaoh while you were watching.

Bahra=Sea/Land/Large body of water/Generous man/MAN OF EXTENSIVE KNOWLEDGE.
Faraqa=To make a devision or distinction(make a schism-break among people of same religion,or right from wrong).

One example of Garak from lanes, although there are others depicting same meaning and/or use.

Agarakho AlNaas = The people multiplied against him and overcame him.

      And so 250

And remember when we devided(the right from the wrong)
for you the man of knowledge and saved you and we multiplied the people against pharoe while you were looking.

      Salaams.

Look to Pakistan, how that came about-through the negotiations, debates primarily by the man named Qaid-e-azam with his compatriots.A whole country was created from india, split up.Whilst other countries have been created aswell and these people wern't even prophets as such and didn't have any magical powers(does anybody really need any) -to my knowledge.I think this gives some insight into how the prophet Moses might have acheived what he did.

        Just an insight.

        And Salaams.

          Peace be upon you MZ,

I like the line of reasoning away from the magical powers most attribute to these stories.

But I disagree with the outcome. I think we have to look closer at the symbolisms.

Large bodies of water are UNSTABLE environments for human beings, whereas the land is STABLE for us. That is why we have to create a "land-like" environment in order to get across called BOATS.

Noah created a stable environment (the ark) in order to get through the unstable environment that destroyed the wicked.

JOnah was thrown into the unstable environment and was swallowed by a big fish.

Fire and water are similar in thier symbolisms. A small fire is helpful and beneficial to us, such as the burning bush of Musa, or a flame to warm oursleves by, etc. But when that fire gets out of control, it causes harm. Like wise, when we have rain, it brings life, but too much brings a flood which destroys.

Here in my hometown , just yesterday, we recieved the remnants of a hurricane that hit Florida, a woman was standing at a bus stop and was swept away by flood waters and died.

Lastly, another point to remember is that he God tells us that the large body of water divided and became like two mountains. Mountains symbolize that which is meant to stabalize, or a government. Remember that Noah's son tried to seek refuge from some "mountain" when the flood came.

MZ, please think about these obervances of water and mountains and tell me your thoughts.

            Salaams Br. idolfree,
love your theory, but it to me can't/isn't practical unless we are given definitions for the symbols. As there are billions of humans and they can all come up with different meanings.

How can we agree unless we first have agreed on what a symbol stands for,and all them humans its unlikely unless the God tells what the symbols mean.

But i think if you take it as the quran in Arabic ,as is told then we all Know the language or have the means to investigate it,things are afar simple.

I reckon all the stories which are enchanting actually if translated right would make perfect sense.
Pitty the Arabs arn't as competent to translate their lingo,i think anyways, but Allah will help.
            Allah Hafiz.

The God only gives the proper interpretation to those who attain knowledge. So it won't be everyone, in fact, it will be only a few.

But i think if you take it as the quran in Arabic ,as is told then we all Know the language or have the means to investigate it,things are afar simple.

How do we investigate it? By using manmade dictionaries? WHo gave those authors thier definition? Why cant you and I use our minds the same way the dictionary writers used thiers? Are we inferior to the great dictionary writers?

Do you not see that land is stable, while water is unstable? Have you tried to walk on both and experiecned the difference? What is the need for boats?

I reckon all the stories which are enchanting actually if translated right would make perfect sense.

Ithink they will make perfect sense when the God teaches us the proper interpretation of the stories as he did for Joseph. Joseph was given a SYMBOLISM of the planets prostrating. Is that a CLEAR story? DO you think many people will come up with different explanations of it? But the God came after that and showed Joseph through his life experience EXACTL what was meant by that SYMBOLISM.

              DO you see?

Pitty the Arabs arn't as competent to translate their lingo,i think anyways, but Allah will help.

But i think the Quran was here to teach us it is the explanation of the stories, aswell.

And Books and dictionaries are an essential tool for the progress of mankind, and no i don't think our minds are capable of doing what we are doing without them.

                Allah Hafiz.

Yes, they are tools, but that does not equate that they are perfect. We must verify everything.

Say again? I don't know what you just meant.

                        Salaam,

In 217-20 an example/mathal is given of such people mentioned in the prior ayatin/signs.

The people start or build up on a system of beliefs which gives them a particular perspective about the world. They do not percieve that this system is wrong.

The rejectors fear to hear anything of that which is from Allah. The system of Allah befuddles or confounds them except where it lies in conformity with their own system. Otherwise they do not understand and heed it not even though they have the means of perception.

In 214-16 an unprofitable trade (straying for guidance) is one which the mockers delve in, but they in fact are mocked by this self-deception. Or Allah pays them back in mockery by leaving them to traverse a path which is not worth any gain.

                        Joe
