Atheism as mental deviance?

Hot off the presses...
Evidence has been presented that links higher order autism to atheism. You can't make this stuff up!
Not all atheists have autism of course--but autism is more prevalent among atheists than other belief sets.

On the other side of the coin...
"The present study examined whether IQ relates systematically to denomination and income within the framework of the g nexus, using representative data from the National Longitudinal Study of Youth (NLSY97). Atheists score 1.95 IQ points higher than Agnostics, 3.82 points higher than Liberal persuasions, and 5.89 IQ points higher than Dogmatic persuasions. Denominations differ significantly in IQ and income. Religiosity declines between ages 12 to 17. It is suggested that IQ makes an individual likely to gravitate toward a denomination and level of achievement that best fit his or hers particular level of cognitive complexity. Ontogenetically speaking this means that contemporary denominations are rank ordered by largely hereditary variations in brain efficiency (i.e. IQ). In terms of evolution, modern Atheists are reacting rationally to cognitive and emotional challenges, whereas Liberals and, in particular Dogmatics, still rely on ancient, pre-rational, supernatural and wishful thinking."
"Over 70 years of research on IQ and religiosity has shown a consistent pattern. IQ and religiosity are negatively correlated. No study to date has shown that religion enhances or improves intelligence, but almost all studies show that, on average, the higher the level of religiousity, the lower the IQ. "

And 'autistic' folks on average possess a higher IQ than 'non-autistic'... a fact which is commonly known and frequently used as a base story to many popular movies such as "Forrest Gump", "Rainman" and "My Name Is Khan".
Now from my personal perspective; the cause of the so-called 'atheist' are due to the fact that they're mostly exposed to the 'judeo-christianity' depiction of God which I would agree doesn't make sense..
I myself an 'atheist' of God and/or deities as being commonly described and defined by the Hindus, Sunnis, Mohammedans and Christians.
I myself a 'theist' of a 'conception' which are being named as Tao in Tao Te Ching, Brahman in the Veda, Allah in the Quran, YHVH in the Tanakh and Father in the Gospel.Salam / Peace

Allah don't Exist, because Allah create Existence.
Allah Exist is incorrect, Allah don't Exist is incorrect. Something created Existence, called it whatever.
Atheist often placed Allah on Logics. But Allah create Logics.
Its kinda Illogical Proving Allah with what it Created in the First Place.
(A mistake many self-proclaimed Quranist made.)Absolute Agnostic, I can define my self. To me, Proving Allah is an Impossibilities.
Atheist I've listen too,
Richard Dawkins is Hot air, with no Solution on Economic Depression.
Stefan Molynuex he have some good Ideas, but nothing against Anglo-American Imperialism.
Jacque Fresco, is probably the best Atheist, since he actually draw out Solutions, Resource Economy(He can't make it because he doesn't have the Money/Resources).Why I believe in Allah? Something cause Existence to Exist.
Why Atheist Smarter than most People? Simple;
Quran 261
And when you said O Musa! we cannot bear with one food, therefore pray Lord on our behalf to bring forth for us out of what the earth grows, of its herbs and its cucumbers and its garlic and its lentils and its onions. He said Will you exchange that which is better for that which is worse? Enter a city, so you will have what you ask for. And abasement and humiliation were brought down upon them, and they became deserving of Allah's wrath; this was so because they disbelieved in the communications of Allah and killed the prophets unjustly; this was so because they disobeyed and exceeded the limits.Atheist don't Pray, Wish something to be Magically Granted.
Most Atheist are just frustrated with most God believing people, depressing Technological, Scientific Progress and restricting personal freedom.
Most Atheist are also sheeps, parroting Atheist Ideas without any Material Solution.
Atheist Grow Food and People will believe you.

the higher the level of religiousity, the lower the IQ. "Can we conclude that this fact is because Many religious people are somewhat closed minded?
Also you have to notice God's system of Knowledge!!! i.e God grants knowledge to the Righteous/Nice people. As he did with Joseph (1222) and Moses (2814)
(read God's system of righteousness http//free-minds.org/forum/index.php?topic=9602900.0)I used to be agnostic, but I loved to learn! Now after God guided me (you can read my story on here),
(http//free-minds.org/forum/index.php?topic=9602898.0)The things that i learned helped me understand many of the Wisdom of God!
From biology to chemistry to Psychology, to the Big Bang, expansion of the universe, to string theory, to atoms and enzymes etc all of this knowledge can bring you into Awe of God's Wisdom! God even stated that it is his knowledgeable servants that revere him God tells us to Roam the earth and see how he initiated creation! God thus tells us to USE OUR MINDSFurthermore, i want to warn everyone about The mercury that's in "silver" dental fillings (amalgams). It was actually the 'far easterner people' who on average has the highest IQ.. (and not the jews)
http//en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IQ_and_the_Wealth_of_NationsPartly it was due to their 'script'.. which are more complicated than latin, arabic or hebrew script...
You need to recognize at least 2,000 characters to be able to read (basic) chinese... that is the 'simplified chinese characters'. While within the 'non-simplified version' there are total of 106,230 characters... hailAs the 'ability to recognize shape and patterns' is one of the key subject being measured by an IQ test.

Ashkenazi Jews with an average IQ of 103.
Hong Kong 108Buddha is the leader then. He`s made quite a few videogames too.
I always thought the best games comes from around those parts, in my youth.
That might not be true anymore with games like Doom3 and HalfLife series. -

Partly it was due to their 'script'..It's not coincedental that Asians are stereotypeclly good at Math. One factor has to do with the fact that their numbers have short syllables, this fascilitates in memory formation/retention/retrieval because there is less things that one has remember!

Buddha is the leader then. He`s made quite a few videogames too.Yup and a heck of cheap iPad too... I found a hundred bucks ipad in HK street market, yet upon closer look it wasn't labeled as iPad yet 1Pad.. LOL beside the label, everything else are nearly identical.
Nurture VS Nature, arguments. Nurture win most of the time.
Indeed.. Steve Jobs is 'genetically' Syrians yet he won't make it as he's now if he's living in Syria..

Peace,
I strongly object to the use of the term "deviance", as if those who have high functioning autism or asperger's choose their condition. I'm old enough to have missed the addition of autism spectrum disorders to the DSM. Were I younger, I probably would have been diagnosed with asperger's or HFA. No one with these neurological diagnoses chooses to act in a way that often gets the shit kicked out of you from the time you enter school until you graduate. (This is why I started martial arts at age 10.)
Does the study account for the possibility of mistreatment of those with autism, even by religious people and groups, as a aggravating factor for their atheism/agnosticism? Wouldn't this cause them to view religion merely as a means of social conformity (something aspies and people with autism are not very good at)? Wouldn't this affect their sense of social justice and their view of the supposed sovereignty of God? I haven't read the link, I just have a second to take a look at the forum since we have a new child in the house this week. yay
Jafar's comments about the rejection of an anthropomorphic God who acts in time like people do should be taken seriously.
But overall, this post shows a complete lack of knowledge and sensitivity about neurological perception that is different from the "norm", and the aggravating factors that cause people to be atheists and agnostics.

Deviance has become a loaded term--much like molest, fundamentalist, flaccid, or many other words. Technically, the usage of "deviant" is correct; different from the norm. The only way to retake words is to use them correctly and appropriately.
The subject title was from the orginal article. The subject title as posted on FM was not intended to molest anybody.

Peace Abdul-Hadi,
Yes, the article uses the word "deviance" but in a statistical sense. This is a God alone forum where atheism and agnosticism is generally considered "deviant" in another sense of the word. Here the word has a completely different connotation than where a person might be on a bell curve, right? In a religious sense, being deviant has certain expectations of judgment and a bad outcome, such as having to drink boiling drink, etc, right?
I could be completely misreading your implications, but the pairing of atheism/agnosticism with HFA/Asperger's has a negative feel to it here. If HFAs and Aspies do have a tendency towards disbelief in traditional religion, and they were born with wiring for a different neurological perception of the world, then what would a sovereign, all-powerful God be trying to accomplish? What do you think the implications of this study are?
Peace,

It is something to ponder, hmm but I doubt that any human can adequately divine ALLAH's will. We only experience it. Surely ALLAH is most just and everything happens for a reason.
The implications are mere statistics as far as I'm concerned. Nothing has changed with the arrival of the information, only knowledge has increased.
I did enjoy learning something new from Jafar's post. bravo

The People of the Scripture ask you to bring down to them a book from the heaven. But they had asked of Moses greater than that and said, "Show us Allah outright," so the thunderbolt struck them for their wrongdoing. Then they took the calf after clear evidences had come to them, and We pardoned that. And We gave Moses a clear authority.Agnosticism...

In my training as a Sufi dervish, I was taught to understand God as a sort of energy force.... genderless and expressive in aspect through every thing and experience under the sun.
(In fact, I had already made this conclusion on my own, which is how I became so interested in Sufism in the first place.)
But how many atheists would agree with me on those points?
Probably quite a few.Which is more cuckoo? To believe this ...or to believe that a bearded old man is going to come floating down from the sky with a legion of trumpeting, winged humanoid creatures and set things right again?

"Second Coming".
However as someone who believes in judgement day, as a part of the esoteric path, or even natural experience of man, and experience that at different times, all over the world, I don`t believe in any second coming before judgement day.
What does it represent though. Great compassion and beauty from above. Is not that the kind of hand that we would all like to extent to our next.
