"muhammadun" the God's messenger/message.

Salaam Marie,
I'm not sure if any of the names are truly proper nouns. Even the 'proper' name of the sustainer/rabb means 'the One and Only' which is a trait applicable only to that being being as It is. I'm not sure about 'zayd' though, could be something related to adding or increasing.

Salaam idolfree1
(3144) And "muhammadun" is not except a messenger, had passed/expired from before him the messengers, so if he died, or (he was) killed, you turned/returned on your heels , and whom turns/returns, on his two heels, so he will never/not harm The God, a thing, and The God will reward the thankful/grateful.
How was this man named Muhammad Ibn Abdullah suppossed to understand the above verse? Who was "muhammadun" to him?
What makes you think the quran only addresses Mohammed Ibn Abdullah. It addresses mankind past, present and future!
And muhammed (and any sane man) understood it as God talking about him to the believers.
There many modes in which the quran addresses the reader.
God as first, second, third person singular
God as first person plural
God speaking directly to mohammed
God asking mohammed to speak to believers
God speaking directly to the believer.Your line of thinking is so bewildering that the mind boggles.

Salaam brother Joe, all
Salaam Marie,
I think we can get a little over innovative in such an analysis that you made. It has indeed brought forth a theme, regarding the nabi, but connecting 334 to 3337-40 does not seem to account for the belief that 'muhammad' would have had no biological children. One can have adopted children and biological children at the same time. I'm sure the nabi, being a man of high moral, would adopt a needy child. What do you think about this?
Joe
Agree, "Muhammed has not been a father of any Man among you" doesn't mean he would have had no biological children; Allah doesn't say "Muhammed has not been a father of any among you"
Let us note in the verse 336, Allah said that Muhammeds wives were like mothers to them i.e "the believers/Man", as stated by Brother Burhan21; the injunction not to marry them. .
I think the boys who grew up in his care would have considered him as a father-figure and I suppose many of his followers aswell, BUT God is defining Muhammeds relationship to other men i.e. he is a messenger not a father
Mohammad has not been a father of any Man among you i e the other men included his addopted son . Just before 3340, in 3337 we are told that the prophet married the wive of his adopted son Zayd, besause he is not his father (3340 and 334)
Contrary to the verse 423
- Forbidden for you are your mothers, and your daughters, and your sisters, and your fathers' sisters, and your mothers' sisters, and the daughters of your brother, and the daughters of your sister, and your foster mothers who suckled you, and your sisters from suckling, and the mothers of your wives, and your step-daughters residing in your homes from your wives which you have already consummated the marriage with; if you have not consummated the marriage then there is no sin upon you; and the wives of your sons that are from your seed, and that you join between two sisters except what has already been done. God is Forgiving, Merciful.
If the prophet is like a father for his adopted son in the same way than his wives for the believers, or Zayd is his son from his seed, the prophet couldn't marry the wive of Zayd.
I'm not sure if any of the names are truly proper nouns. Even the 'proper' name of the sustainer/rabb means 'the One and Only' which is a trait applicable only to that being being as It is.
My first name is a proper noun and in the same time has several meanings wink
Idem for Warda, Majida, Layth, Zein, Ayman, Hafeez ...)

Peace be upon you Burhan,

If that works for you, then best of luck to you.
