        Peace Kindness!
I Think that studying the roots of the words is a much easier way in trying to understand what the words mean.
In arabic as well as other semetic languages, roots are just that! roots which shoot up and spring a tree (common meaning) and branches (variations).

Try the Lanes Lexon at http//www.tyndalearchive.com/tabs/lane/
(Click the letters and it will pop up the roots that start by that letter)
If you're trying to study the quran, try www.Corpus-Quran.com

*Remember, It is His Most Supreme, High Majesty who bestows wisdom and knowledge, and so it is very lucrative to pray for such!
*Also Keep in mind that His Most blessed, High Majesty readily bestows knowledge and wisdom to those who are righteous/nice

          Lat?aif-ul-Lugh?at Ahmad bin Mustafa al-Bafedi

Manar Muhammad Rashid Rida (Tafseer-al-Manar) Cairo 1367-72 H.

          Al-Mufrad?at fi Ghar?aib-al-Quran Abdul Qasim Hussain Ar-Raghib (D 503 H)

          Muq?abis-ul-Lugh?at Ibn-e-Faris - Six Volumes - printed in Egypt in 1952.

          Taj-ul-Urus Murtaza-az-Zabidi (D 1205)

Since this was compiled after Lis?anul Arab (by Ibn Mukarram or Ibn Manzoor) it contains all the essential details. It is in ten volumes. The first print was in 1306 H. Even Lane?s Lexicon is based on Taj-ul-Urus.
