Eid?

Hello,
I found out about Quranists only recently, and I am intrigued by it. I have been a sunni all my life and after reading about following Quran only, I am interested in learning more to see where it takes me. I was hoping if maybe someone could give a little idea.
To begin with, since it's eid tomorrow, I was wondering if you celebrate eid? I would greatly appreciate your reply. I do have more concerns but hopefully I will share them gradually as I navigate through the posts here.

I never found Eid in the Qur'an. However, as a community get together, festival, its ok. But I wouldnt call it "ISLAM". Eid often comes with wastage of people's monitory resources, while there are people in the world who can benefit from our money that we waste on Eid. I am not saying that this means that celebrating Eid is HARAM. However, the spirit of RAMADAN gets lost in EID. Where people go back to their usual lifestyle of "PARTYING" and showing off who could spend more and buy more in their Eid shopping.
I dont think I am a Qur'anist. I seek God. God gave a book(Qur'an), I read, I obey.
You are seaking IDEA about following what is in the Qur'an. The best and the only safe option is through reading the Qur'an. None of us here or elsewhere can help you in that case. It is your life, your test. If you can read, why not read ? Read the Qur'an and let the Lord be your shepherd. If you wish to know our views on certain topics, use the search engine in this forum. Do share your views with us too. I would love to learn from you. But , at the end of the day, they are only "our views". The absolute interpretation of the Qur'an belongs to God.
I pray that God guides you to His straight path.

The Quran has no specific holidays to mention.
However, I do not see that negating any of the holidays that are around as long as you do not participate in any of the idol worship associated.

Yeah, it seems fine to have a cultural festival, and maybe it was the Prophet himself who actually had initiated the Eid when he felt there were not enough festivities for his people...! And subsequently it was made into a religious festival. Nothing wrong in celebrating Eid and any local festivals that you like but they don't come in the ambit of religion. We don't want to be told to have fun in life, we already should know it -) What I like about Eid is friends n family getting in touch with each other, which they normally wouldn't do so carefully for rest of the year, and everyone in the family gets the opportunity to ask after everyone else. In the sub-Continent there is a cultural festival associated with Spring, called Basant - but usually there is too much vulgarity involved in it!

Thats not what we are talking about in this thread. We are discussing the specific "Eid of Ramadan and after Hajj". I would love to see how much twisting of tongue with the book is necessary in order to make the "EID" you quoted into the EID that we are discussing. And ofcourse, thank you for the quote, that will help increase the amount of knowledge in my precious vault of precious knowledge ) May God reward you for that.
