"4 legged animals" in Quran
-
The Quran says all 4 legged animals're halal (except those that're killed by being beaten, etc) but why "4 legged"? not "2 legs and 2 hands"? you know dogs, meerkats, felines, some animals with 4 "legs" also use their front "legs" to grab something, climb trees, bury something, other activities that're using hands, to me their front "legs" not exactly legs but more like "hands". Unlike cows or horses that always use their legs for activities like running or walking.
Sorry this might be stupid question ) but id really love to know your thoughts about this.

Shalom Aleikhom,
6145 Say "I do not find in what is inspired to me to be unlawful for any eater to eat except that it be already dead, or running blood, or the meat of pig - for it is foul - or what is a wickedness, dedicated to other than God." But whoever is forced to, without seeking disobedience or transgression, then your Lord is Forgiving, Merciful.
Having "Said" that... did I miss something ?? I mean... who declared the rest haram ? Can you please help me to see where in the Qur'an it said what you said ?
Ofcourse further details are available too
53 Forbidden to you is that which is already dead, and the blood, and the meat of pig, and what was dedicated to other than God, and that which has been strangled, and that which has been beaten to death, and that which has fallen from a height, and that which has been gored, and that which the wild animals have eaten from except what you managed to rescue, and what has been slaughtered on altars, and what you divide by the arrows of chance. This is vile. Today the rejecters have given up from your system, so do not be concerned by them, but be concerned by Me. Today I have perfected your system for you, and completed My blessings upon you, and I have approved submission as the system for you. So, whoever is forced by severe hunger and not seeking sin, then God is Forgiving, Merciful.
54 They ask you what was made lawful to them, say "All the good things have been made lawful for you, and what the trained dogs and birds catch, you teach them from what God teaches you." So eat from what they have captured for you and mention the name of God upon it, and be aware of God. God is swift in reckoning.Peace be on you

dear sistersand brothers
as I understand you student of Allah, do you think that God allowed the eating of cats and dogs? I have two interesting articles that show that only certain animals are allowed to eat.
http//quransmessage.com/articles/does%20the%20quran%20allow%20the%20eating%20of%20all%20animals%20FM3.htm
http//quransmessage.com/articles/food%20restrictions%20FM3.htmThe question of the " four legs" or "two legs and two arms" is for me answered to the effect , that human is the only creature on earth, which moves mainly on two legs. All other creatures are moving either away on four legs (even if they "use hands" as the two Middle squirrels, monkeys, bears, etc). as addition there are the birds, with the wings and two legs, and thus fall again in a different category..
i don't know if this answer your question? And there are no stupid questions, only stupid answers... . -

i don't know if this answer your question? And there are no stupid questions, only stupid answers... .Shalom Aleikhom my german friend,
I hope God has kept you happy since the last time I saw you in the forum.
Just because you love cats/dogs does not mean that I cant eat them. Everyone is innocent unless proven guilty. Same way, all are allowed unless Forbidden. Its you assumption that dog meat "should" be haram.
The article is thought provoking. However, the choice of words in the translation does not reflect the statements of other relevant ayaats. That kind of translation , to me atleast, looks like you are trying to make the Qur'an say what you want it to say. Otherwise, the relevant ayaats should echo with your translated ayaat , not contradict.
It depends on culture. Some culture see it fit to eat the genitals of animals, whereas others see it as dirty. Some cultures dont eat "cute" creatures, others do. Some cultures dont eat insects, others do. My deen is submission to God, not to my culture. "Livestock" is not the same in every culture/country. People asked such questions before, this is how God asks to respond to such questions
6142 And from the livestock are those for burden, and also for clothing. Eat from what God has provided you and do not follow the footsteps of the devil; he is to you a clear enemy.
6143 Eight pairs from the lambs two, and from the goats two. Say "Is it the two males that He forbade or the two females, or what the wombs of the two females bore? Inform me if you are truthful!"
6144 And from the camels two, and from the cattle two. Say "Is it the two males that He forbade or the two females, or what the wombs of the two females bore? Or were you witnesses when God ordered you with this?" Who is more wicked than he who invents lies about God to misguide the people without knowledge. God does not guide the wicked people.
6146 And for those who are Jewish We have made unlawful all that have claws; and from the cattle and the sheep We made unlawful their fat except what is attached to the back, or entrails, or mixed with bone. That is a punishment for their rebellion, and We are truthful
I did not find, in what was revealed to the messenger to be HARAM for any eater to eat dogs.
The category thing you spoke about only reminds me of the 6143-144. And I feel like responding with 6145.

dear student of Allah
thanks, I'm fine ... )
Look, even if I'm happy to animals in general, it is clear to me, if Allah says, "Eat", it is allowed, it is allowed. Whether I eat it then or not, lies with me.
Well, first I must make it clear that the articles are not written by me.
But I found nothing illogical in them. maybe you can point out the illogical conclusions, claims for me?
The issue is really the question of how livestock are defined.Quote
005001
"O ye who believe! Fulfil your obligations. Grazing (Arabic bahimatu) livestock (Arabic anaam'i) is made lawful (Arabic uhillat) to you (for food) except that which is announced to you (herein), game being unlawful when ye are on the pilgrimage. Lo! God ordains that which pleases Him"?BAHIMA? (Grazing)
Root Ba-Ha-Miim = animals that pasture/graze, lamb/goat/sheep, animals of the bovine kind, beasts/brutes.
It has always been clearly understood by the classical usage of the Arabic word ?Bahima? that beasts of pasture or grazing are implied. It is also interesting to note that pigs also pasture. Therefore it is only reasonable to deduce that by virtue of the swine flesh being mentioned as an exception, it is within the category of ?Bahima? (i.e. animals that pasture / grazing animals or beasts) that the exception is intended.
Quote 2
?ANAAM? (Cattle / Livestock)
Root Nun-Ayn-MiimThe root Arabic word for ?Anaam? in verse 5.1 is NUN-AYN-MIM which means cattle / livestock (Which is lawful to eat)
The root Arabic word for ?Anaam? in verse 55.10 is ALIF-NUN-MIM which means all creatures which include mankind, jinn, animals and all other creatures on the face of the earth that are ?al khalaq? (created) or indeed, everything that has a soul or a spirit (which of course is not necessarily lawful to eat)
A change of just one letter can make the crucial difference between understanding a word as ?livestock? to understanding it as ?all living creatures?. This is also why one can appreciate how important it is for the Arabic listener to be able to distinguish between the sound of the ?AYN? (from the throat) and the ALIF and distinguish between the two.
If it can be clearly derived from the Arabic language that livestock seems to bee grazing animals such as pasture, herbivores, then the conclusions of the mentioned article shouldnt be dismissed out of hand.
However, we see from the references of the article that the translation of the word is not simply an imagination of the author, but he proves his conclusions with the Lane lexicon. I acknowledge your allegation is, that the content of the article is provocative because it only draws the logical conclusions that arise from the translation?
thank you and salam -
See, there is wisdom )
God Almighty opened the Lawful food list to many things (with remembering God's Name on them), HOWEVER, the Quran cites that some food is PREFREBLE over others (134).
If you look in the bible, and the prohibitation against food, you will see that God Almighty was instructing the children of Israel to refrain from eating certain food in order for them to be "Holy" or pure.
Some Animals eat their excrement, some might not care what they eat, (notice that sometimes toxins build up in the body and sometimes get accumulated into the fat of animals). This is when our minds come in handy ) Some foods are better to eat than other foods.Sure Hydrogenated/trans fats, MSG, carcinogens (cancer causing) etc are all lawful to eat, but surely they will be detremental to your health! There is an instruction in the Quran to basically not throw ourselves into destruction 2191
