In order to best help, where is the word used?
267 And Moses said to his people "GOD orders you to slaughter a heifer." They said "Do you mock us?" He said "I seek refuge with GOD that I not be of the ignorant ones."

thank you all for your answers and helpI think the the FM translation of 53 is correct; if it is indeed true then dhakkaytum means "you managed to rescue." If dhakkaytum meant slaughter, then the word would be used at 267. Dhubia can't mean sacrificed/dedicated, because other words are used at 16115, 37107, and 1082 with those meanings--and slaughter works and makes sense as a meaning for dhubia. Two words will have two different meanings. In any case, the method for slaughter is not specified--except that slaughter can't be performed by means of strangulation, by beating an animal to death, or by dropping an animal from a height.
53 Forbidden to you is that which is already dead, and the blood, and the meat of pig, and what was dedicated to other than GOD, and that which has been strangled, and that which has been beaten to death, and that which has fallen from a height, and that which has been gored, and that which the wild animals have eaten from except what you managed to rescue , and what has been slaughtered on altars, and what you divide by the arrows of chance. This is vile. Today the rejecters have given up from your system, so do not be concerned by them, but be concerned by Me. Today I have perfected your system for you, and completed My blessings upon you, and I have approved submission as the system for you. So, whoever is forced by severe hunger and not seeking sin, then GOD is Forgiving, Merciful.
16115 He has only forbidden for you what is already dead, and the blood, and the meat of pig, and what was sacrificed to any other than GOD. But whoever is forced to, without seeking disobedience or transgression, then GOD is Forgiver, Merciful.
37107 And We ransomed him with a great animal sacrifice .
1082 Therefore, you shall make contact to your Lord and sacrifice .
ALLAH knows best.
