Best English Translation of the Qur'an

What is the best english translation of the Qur'an? I am looking primarily for a hard copy, not online. I am not a believer, but I am exploring my beliefs and would love to read the Qur'an, but I know that translations for it are difficult and not always accurate. Thanks in advance.

It is good to use multiple texts. It is even better to use web sites such as Corpus Quran (http//corpus.quran.com/) to use the Qur'an in Arabic to verify meanings by cross referencing with other uses of the word in AQ (Al-Quran). One word will have one meaning in all uses.
Given that having multiple translations can be beneficial, you might take advantage of one or more offers for a free Qur'an. Just Google "free Qur'an" and browse.
A good translation is important. I'd read a poor translation years before coming to Islam...the poor translation had no impact. Here is the translation that I read that did have impact

Error free in translation? Of course not! But it is a good start, ISA.
Don't forget that there are numerous electronic recordings of the Qur'an as well--even dedicated devices. Read/listen to AQ on a book reader, computer, Ipod, digital Qur'an, or whatever way helps you.

I also love Yahya Emmerick.
Recently my masjid gave the visitors a Quran and guess what was in there...... the words to "HIT" your wife, not separate but HIT! These were college students taking an Islam class at the Univ of Pitt, you should have seen the girls questioning this, since was handed to them by the Imam.... ugghh.
