New Journey! :)

Helloo people D
Yeah, obvious first impression is that I'm a newbie here. I've been lurking around the forum a few months, probably no more than 3, but I've read a handful of the articles on the main page
Little background about myself I'm 18, not a convert so there's no long Journey finding the light except I've been in the dark side for a bit too long. Brought up by both traditional Sunni parents, a bit cultural too shall I say but more openminded than some others I know... Btw, I did hear my Mum talking about the infamous "Quraniyoons" saying they're "Kuffars", not nice, so I wont be announcing anything anytime soon.
So, how did my journey begin? Nothing too extraordinary but I guess the funny part is that my utmost disgust with hadith began when I started searching about dogs. Yeah odd xD
I'm not a big dog lover but it seemed so odd how one animal could be so hatred for no justifiable reason! Then i came across some Yahoo questions and some of the answers struck me like a shooting star. I've seen some posts on here mention him, but Muhammad k (Who seems to have disappeared from there since all his answers are 2+ years ago) was insightful.
So I began searching about "Quranists", Quran Alone people, Submitters, Hadith Rejectors! You name it, I stalked it all xD ... As I stated at the beginning, the articles on the main page of Free-minds are the ones which made me think more deeply about my faith. I never doubted Islam or Allah, or His messengers. But "Muslims" (Traditionalists) and I were never on the same boat. I ask a question, you get your typical "Because the Prophet said in X hadith through Y man", I ask for the reasoning behind the rule then get scolded for questioning God and the messengers authority brickwallSooo, I'm still learning and searching but my heart is at ease now. The hardest part is listening to others blabber about Hadiths when you a answer to a question so I've kind of given up on that.
May Allah guide us all and bless us with great knowledge. group -
Hey there! )
Nice story, reminds me a bit of me lol.
Yes it can be extremely frustrating when traditional muslims retaliate when you question their views. Its even more frustrating when most of your friends are traditional muslims! But thats life.
Indeed may Allah guide us all to truth. pr

Nice story. I was raised around dogs, have even helped puppies be born, so cute I might add )
It doesnt matter if an animal can reason, It matters only that it is capable of suffering and that is why I consider it my neighbor. (Albert Schweitzer)

True say, you become used to it eventually xD
Keeping a small circle of friends really helps, especially if they aren't all "Muslims"@Indelwyn I had a crazy phobia of dogs when I was younger o.O I remember crying so badly once on a field trip just because we had to walk past a dog. This is before being taught all the "Wash seven times and once with dirt" myth.
Now is a different story? It doesn?t matter if an animal can reason, It matters only that it is capable of suffering and that is why I consider it my neighbor. (Albert Schweitzer)
I love the quote you added, I shall definitely save it somewhere D Thank you

welcome O0
love dogs and i too had an issue until i reflected
They consult you concerning what is lawful for them; say, "Lawful for you are all good things, including what trained dogs and falcons catch for you."
Yusef Ali tanslated instead of dogs he uses the word "beasts"
so I ask myself "what beasts can you train to catch food for you"? I couldn"t think of any
other than falcons and dogs
besides the Quran doesn't prohibit dogs
the prohibition of dogs is jewish in origin (misnah or oral and the gemarah or tradtions)Peace

Shalom Aleikhem,
Welcome to the forum. I hope you find what you are looking for. I do understand that it can be frustrating to deal with traditionalists and their interpretations. If one refuses to think, there isn't really much that we can do about it. However, the fact remains that people mislead each other. Besides confrontations with people who do not reason, I am sure you will come across people that reason. When you tell them from the words of your Lord, their hearts soften and they hear and they obey. For them, let us invite to the way of God with wisdom and beautiful delivery.
I am glad that those who turn away after the message is brought to them, we are not a guardian over them. Upon us is what we have earned, upon them is theirs.
May peace be with you
