    Salam everybody,
I noticed that 2186 is mostly translated this way

"And if My servants ask you about Me, I am near answering the calls of those who call to Me. So let them respond to Me and believe in Me that they may be guided. "

My question is about the red marked word. As a native arabic speaker this word means "they (3rd plural masculine) (be/get) mature" as it is YARSHODOON.
Be guided which is used in the translations would be YURSHADOON.
Anybody can explain why YARSHODOON is translated as guided?

The usage of the word root seems consistent.

To mature means to progress--to permanently leave what is outgrown and go to what is better. This maturity is not self-bestowed--it comes from ALLAH. "Guided" is clear in English as being an improvement upon the original condition.

      ALLAH knows best.

      peace

You are talking about the simple and obvious declicacies of Arabic language. You are referring that in the target language the Active Voice Verb seems converted into Passive Verb by the translation.

You will find this problem with the majority of translators who did nothing except copy/pasting from earlier translation and then adding a new translation under their own name. See these

Edip-Layth 2186 If My servants ask you about Me, I am near answering the calls of those who call to Me. So let them respond to Me and acknowledge Me that they may be guided.

The Monotheist Group 2186 And if My servants ask you about Me, I am near answering the calls of those who call to Me. So let them respond to Me and believe in Me that they may be guided.

Rashad Khalifa When My servants ask you about Me, I am always near. I answer their prayers when they pray to Me. The people shall respond to Me and believe in Me, in order to be guided.

Shabbir Ahmed 2186 (This training program has nothing to do with asceticism. The mystics think that self-denial will bring them close to God.) So, when My servants ask you about Me, surely, I am Near. I respond to the prayer of the suppliant when he calls unto Me. Let them also listen to My call, and believe in Me, so that they may be led aright .

None above noticed that the verb is intransitive, and that it is on Pattern of - and that it is from Verbal Noun .
You are quite right that by doing the preceding desired act there will be the possibility that they might make themselves men of rational behaviour-matured moving on the right path. This makes them .

          Salam on you!

Thank you for your unswers. It is sad that the translators didint spend more time for reflecting on the true meaning.
I can certainly see the delicate connection between being guided and maturing. RUSHD in the Quran is used to indicate the matureness given by God in almost all the ayas wehere it appears, we can not mature without the guidence from God.
Yet the word for guidence in the Quran is not RUSHD, but HUDA.

          Peace!
