Assalamualaikum and a bigggg HELLO to all the awesome people here! group
My name is Arifa, and I am from Singapore. I am born into a traditional Sunni (very traditional~) family. Since young, I have heard alot about the "Islam" and many things have bothered me. In fact, I almost completely lost faith in Islam and was on the brink of madness. Literally. Women cannot do this. Women cannot do that. You can listen to music, blahblahblah. brickwall
And when I asked my mom for explanations concerning these practices, all i got was byou are a kafir/munafiq questioning islam!" yeah Yes mom, i am a kafir/munafiq in the SUNNI ISLAM. voodoo I am also in an "ustaza" in a sunni madrasah. And all these poor kids are made to do is to memorise hadiths/surah/dua if not, they will get spanked. Im serious. & And I attended a sermon last month, and a "scholar" was telling that when a guy gets married, he doesnt have to listen to the wife but has to obey the parents. but when a GIRL gets married, she has to disobey HER parents to obey him. (idiot he is, im telling you! the only reason he is alive is because it is illegal to kill him -.-" elektro )
Just a month ago, I was searching for an explanation for some of the other idiotic hadiths he was saying. And then I somehow stumbled upon this website. Praise be to the lord! i felt that supermegaultraveryso awesome moment when the truth unfolds before your very eyes! HALELLUJAH! Hehe( After much research, i decided that hadith and sunna are utter rubbish! I mean, how can these people think that one of the Muhammad's missions was potty training for adults?! brickwall
Haha, after a few days, i got into an argument with my mom. She told me that some hadith (hadith nawawi) and the Duas were inspired to muhammad alongside with the Quran. brickwall brickwall brickwall
Then, I told her that following the hadith & sunna is a BIG disrespect to Muhammad. Guess what happened? My phone got confiscated '( Haha so weird man seriously. Anyways, I am now clear of all these rubbish in my head! I am ready to begin my spiritual journey to find out the TRUTH of the Qur'an. And I am also looking forward in having conversations with all of you! Once again, HOLA! bravo O0 sun

And in case you're wondering, no I'm not Singaporeans.. lived there for some time in the distant past...It's nice to know you're an 'uztasa' in a madrasa...
And yeah it's kind of sad how they (or should I say 'you' in this case.. )) intoxicate little kids with 'religion absurdity'..
I bet they're also telling those little kids 'if you don't do this or that Allah will be angry and put you to hell'... or other horrible things..Keeping children away from intoxication and indoctrination of religion absurdity will be among the little 'jihad' that we can do..

Oh, I thought "uztaza" meant teacher, but then I thought if you are so fiesty and vehemently against it, how can you be propogating the exact same thing. I recently got offered a job, teaching English at an Islamic school (I did not apply,I was sought out), but I just don't understand how I would be able to separate teaching English from the overall ethos of the school, which is to indoctrinate those kids' heads with crap. I find it even more difficult to see how you would be able to do that in your position. I did think I should take up the position and lead them "astray" with The Truth. Perhaps, I will... >D Anyway sister, all the best.

OOps, my bad... i didnt explain properly. I am forced to teach in that madrasah (sunday classes). My mom teaches there too. I told my mom that i am quitting but she didnt let me becos there is a shortage of teachers. I teach toddlers how to read the Quran. I have stopped teaching hadiths and the other "nonsense" stuff. I do not make my students memorise any hadiths. It is only the upper level kids. Haha i pity them. I teach poems, tell storues (from Qur'an) and teach them Akhlaq (character building.) I do not and will not propogate hadiths or sunnah-tunnabi.

Haha dont worry, i do NOT and will NOT intoxicate my students with religious absurdities. I make lessons fun for them! I teach them how to read the Qur'an... abit of stories and poems... i also teach them character building. Thats all. I am innocent peace

noticed how people who question wanting to know the Truth, somehow come to see the Truth.
i just returned from my trip to India. came to the united states at age 10yo. am now 40 years. i remember as a child questioning and wondering about traditions, practices, rituals, etc. spent the past 20 some years reading/learning. i came to learn the Truth about islam and now see from the outside. wearing a burqa is a big deal back home and i took a stance. not only that but had my hair down. well, you can only imagine how i was looked upon and what was said. i asked show me where in the koran God says to wear a burqa? i asked my relatives what is hadith? that's the problem, people don't know what the koran says or know the history of hadiths.
it brought smiles to my face when my cousin leaned over whispering in my ears to send her english translation of the koran. only way to fight ignorance is with knowledge. at least one person in the crowd heard and wants to know the Truth. well, more than one person did. yay
