    Salams to all.

I've been having a sneaking suspicion lately concerning the life and times of Muhammad, and when exactly was the Quran revealed....After becoming convinced that the geography of all the prophets - including Muhammad himself - was in South West Arabia, I have been toying with the idea lately that Muhammad was not born in 570 A.D (+/- a few years) but possibly a century earlier.

Incidently, concerning the so-called "Prophecy of the Smoke" mentioned in Surah 44 of the Quran, I believe this event could very-well be the "Mystery Smoke" of 536 A.D. This event was documented by people all over the eastern part of the globe, from Europe to China, as the sun was veiled by a haze of ash for 8 months straight, which had catasrophic effects on the harvest season, unlike anything ever witnessed on the planet for the past 2000 years. This event happened during Muhammad's lifetime.

The proof is in the Quran

{No; they are in doubt, playing * Therefore, watch for the day when the sky will bring a visible smoke * It will envelop the people ; a painful retribution * "Our Lord, remove the retribution from us; we are believers" * ....* We will remove the retribution in a while; you will then return (to your disbelief)}...

Could this be any other event than the phenomenon of 536 A.D??

This proves that the event already happened, as the word "watch" which appears in the translation above, corresponds to the term , which means "expect something to happen soon". It is telling Muhammad to look out for an event that will happen soon (back then).

The event of 536 A.D is a minor "smoke" that was caused by an ash cloud from a volcano that erupted somewhere on Earth, and envelopped large areas of the Eastern Hemisphere, from Europe to China. The inhabitants of all these countries recorded the event, and the people of Arabia certainly witnessed it. The Quran says {We will remove the retribution in a while; you will then return (to your disbelief)}. This could only mean that the event already happened, and that it was a minor version of the great cataclysm that will take place at the end of times.

Now...since Allah was prophecying to Muhammad (P) an event that would take place in 536 A.D, during his lifetime, this means that Muhamamd was alive and well, and reciting the Quran BEFORE that date. So how can he be born in 570 A.D (as the traditions claim)??

Please google "Mystery Cloud of 536 A.D" and read all you can about it.

    Peace...

The "Mystery Cloud" in my view is unlikely to be the smoke prophecy. The reason being is because like you said the smoke spread to Europe and China.

4410 Therefore, watch for the day when the sky will bring a visible smoke/gas.
4411 It will envelop the people "This is a painful retribution!"
4412 "Our Lord, remove the retribution from us; we are those who acknowledge."
4413 How is it that now they remember, while a clarifying messenger had come to them?
4414 But they turned away from him and said, "Clearly educated, but crazy!"
4415 We will remove the retribution in a while; you will then revert back.
4416 On the day We strike the great strike, We will avenge.

What messenger was sent to China??? Why would God afflict a people in which no messenger was sent????

4415 We will remove the retribution in a while; you will then revert back. (this verse does not necessarily mean that it has occured or was occuring)

Of note, Prophetic events are usually written in the present tense or future tense to show there inevitability. For example there are many examples of nations being cast into hell. These events have NOT YET HAPPEN yet they are spoken of as if they did happen already. What God is showing us is the inevitability of the events. God is independent of Time and Space. He controls it.

Another question is how do you know that the messenger spoken of in Sura 44 is Muhammad???? The Quran is not only meant for 'Muhammad's Generation" but also for FUTURE GENERATIONS. How do you know that this Sura was speaking or making reference to another messenger??? Show me one verse in that sura that specifies that Muhammad was the messenger. Also how can people (Europeans and Chinese) make a statement like " Educated(Taught and tutored) but Crazy" unless they knew who the person was? To make a statement about a person's character can only be made if you know the person yourself. Did the Chinese know the last prophet to make a statement like that????? If so, where is your proof?

        Peace,

        Kevin

          Peace,

I agree with Kevin. I don't believe this dust cloud was the Smoke mentionned in Sura 44, anyway, does somebody here thinks he knows exactly what the Dukhan/Smoke of sura 44 is ?

If it's the case, or if you know someone who says he knows, feel free to MP me or to post here.

          salam,

          Kamzo

But what about that eclipse which apparently happened when Muhammads son died, which we know happened just by astronomy. Of course, we're not fond of hadith here, but considering science confirms there was an eclipse I dont see much reason to doubt it.

There are much greater 'disaster' and famine some of them prophesied some of them are not which happened after 5th Century AD.

Let's talk only about volcanic eruption...

              1. The year without summer, Mount Tambora Eruption, Indonesia, 1816 (And 4 other huge volcanic eruption on Japan, Phillipines, Indonesia and Carribean)
                http//en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Year_Without_a_Summer
              2. The gigantic eruption at 535, One of possible candidate is also at Indonesia, Mount (or perhaps Island of) Krakatoa..

I'm now wondering will Pazuzu still insist that ALL prophets originated in Yemen? Or he's now considering other location too? ))

If the 'smoke prophecy' is refering to event #2, then it's comparably smaller than event #1, thus the bigger event is not prophesied in the Quran.. if the 'smoke prophecy' is refering to event #1 then it's 100% certain that the event was located primarily in Indonesia and nowhere near Yemen.. )

But I guess pazuzu shall remove #1 as it doesn't support his theory of 'everything originated from Yemen'... although event #1 is more gigantic in size and impact compared to event #2.
Next he will need to prove that the culprit volcano which caused event #2 is not Krakatoa (Indonesia) but somewhere in Yemen as well..

Volcanic eruption wise, one of the most gigantic explosion known to man was again happened at Indonesia..
              http//en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toba_catastrophe_theory
Which created a lake crater as big as switzerland..

              Salam / Peace

Some people here like to rubbish pazuzu's research because it does not reconcile with their current world-view...

unless they can show evidence of the calibre of publications in academic journals such as Nature, they should refrain to spew their bile here

                  Mystery cloud of ad 536

"Dry fogs appear in the atmosphere when large volcanic eruptions inject massive quantities of fine silicate ash and aerosol-forming sulphur gases into the troposphere and stratosphere. Although the ash gravitationally settles out within weeks, the aerosols spread around the globe and can remain suspended in the stratosphere for years. Because solar radiation is easily absorbed and backscattered by the volcanic particles, a haziness in the sky and a dimming of the Sun and Moon are produced. Very dense and widespread dry fogs occur, on the average, once every few centuries. The sizes and intensities of some of the largest of them before the modern scientific era have been estimated by several indirect methods. The densest and most persistent dry fog on record was observed in Europe and the Middle East during AD 536 and 537. Despite the earliness of the date, there is sufficient detailed information to estimate the optical depth and mass of this remarkable stratospheric dust cloud. The importance of this cloud resides in the fact that its mass and its climatic consequences appear to exceed those of any other volcanic cloud observed during the past three millenia. Although the volcano responsible remains a mystery, a tropical location (perhaps the volcano Rabaul on the island of New Britain, Papua, New Guinea) can be tentatively inferred."

                      Fine observation.

The happening is related to the Last Day as is evident from its end.

The Day We will seize, the greatest-ultimate seizure, indeed We are the Authority for retribution.

during what season did it come the winter or the summer?
is it in relation to the verse going "this cloud with give us rain!!!...."
if so then what wrath came from the cloud? hail or thunder or overwelming snow? possibly even soot from ash.

i don't want to believ in miracles...i.e. why would ALLAH have to do extra work? he already build the heavens and the earth and set the rules from them what's going to happen is written in a book, the mother of the book. so consider.....is it nessary for an all knowing man to need to miracle? now ALLAH the all-wise, all-knowing seriously? ALLAH would never have to do anything he can say "be" and it is like a king to his servants, a simple hand clap and entertainment is proved for a guest. consider ALLAH is above the need to alter his own written word, it's mankind that fails.

                              Peace,

i don't want to believ in miracles...i.e. why would ALLAH have to do extra work?

There is no extra work involved in those "miracles", but God makes them to be as signs for man to realize that he should believe in The Lord. There has been many signs, which man generally refers to as miracles, that people may open their eyes, but most people choose not to believe anyway. The mere fact that we exist is a sign/miracle enough, in my humble opinion.

The things that the Prophets and Messengers performed was sanctioned and performed using the Force of God and it is nothing out of the ordinary to God. Likely the Hereafter will be filled with much of that when the test is over and such things do no longer have to be hidden to man.

                              God bless you

                                Peace...

                                Very good observation
