    Salam All...

One might wonders how all of this religion mess get started?
Apparently the pattern is pretty much the same..

When you want to start a religion business, you need to

    1. Create a deity...
    2. Make the deity in charge of something.. (if making Him/Her in charge of everything is impossible)
    3. A good deity should be something / someone which easily recognized by the customers believers..
    4. A dead famous person makes a very good candidate for the religion's deity.. given
    • They're famous and usually loved by the people..
    • They're dead.. thus there's no need to pay him/her some share of the business and we can create stories, legends and myths about him/her and nobody can confirm whether it's true or not.. given to the fact that they're already dead and cannot properly communicate with the living.
    • We can create some stories that such and such deity appears in our dream and he/she said X. Where X can be anything that you want... This in turn creates an 'association' a.k.a brand awareness in the mindset of the prospective customers that YOU are the deity's main agent on this earth...
    1. After the deity is well known to the people, Correlate any big events to Him/Her.. Earthquake! the deity is angry because you didn't show much respect to Him/Her... Tsunami! you violated my.. erggh.. i mean the deity's commandment of not going to the temple regularly.. Economic crisis ! That's because you're stingy and not giving enough donation to me.. erghh i mean as an offering to the deity..

You all know the stories of Jesus, Muhammad, Krishn etc.. right? Thus I will not discussed about them here.
Let's focus on something 'fresh'... an Egyptian deity named OSIRIS...

    A brief overview of OSIRIS..
    http//en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Osiris

Osiris was at times considered the oldest son of the Earth god Geb, and the sky goddess Nut, as well as being brother and husband of Isis, with Horus being considered his posthumously begotten son. He was also associated with the epithet Khenti-Amentiu, which means "Foremost of the Westerners" ? a reference to his kingship in the land of the dead. As ruler of the dead, Osiris was also sometimes called "king of the living", since the Ancient Egyptians considered the blessed dead "the living ones". Osiris is first attested in the middle of the Fifth dynasty of Egypt (2500 BC), although it is likely that he was worshipped much earlier.

The legacy of Osiris cult/religion can be felt up until today, some of them are

    • The belief of "Grave Punishment", originally it was Osiris who came into the tomb and ask questions to the dead souls..
    • The depiction of "Angel of Death" who came to take the soul by carrying his sickle..
What does a sickle got to do with death?? Well.... actually nothing!!
It was due to the fact that before Osiris got promoted to become "God Of The Dead" he was "God of the living", specifically he was the "God of Harvest".. and that's why he always carry his sickle all the time...

Apparently.... according to the book which didn't make it to the 'official bible'.. named "Book Of Jasher"..
Osiris was once a living person.. as matter of fact he was a king of Egypt.. greatly loved by the people..
And perhaps.. as usual, after his death.. some smart priests create a religion out of him...

Without further ado.. here's the entire story
    http//www.sacred-texts.com/chr/apo/jasher/14.htm

Plus ca change, plus c'est la meme chose..
The more it changes, the more it stays the same..

    Salam / Peace

      Peace jafar.

Thanks for that information. GOD also explains in HIS last scripture how all these religions start.

      Check out - http//www.total-loyalty-to-god-alone.co.uk/post-ten-start-again/

May GOD guide all those who are cunningly misled.

      Peace.

I don't view religion as "a mess", it's just another market wherein people can profit by satisfying their customers' needs.

          What's wrong with that?

Interesting view.... care to plunge into the industry?
I found a more easy to follow guide... which pretty much tell the same story..

            http//www.apath.org/creating_religion.html

            Some highlights
#5) Make it ambiguous. Let both sides of an argument claim it as their own.

In this case, is The Great God Lardicus a "Dark God" bent on destroying The Temple Of Your Physical Being, or is he a "Light God" and the patron of those who are too busy in their lives to stop and eat a well-balanced meal?

Why define it when you can let people fight it out themselves. People are funny. They'll fight over anything. Even something you just made up. Enjoy the show and try not to think too much about the Karmic issues you are creating for yourself.

#9) You need to confuse everybody. This will make sure that nobody can be really certain WHAT they believe, because it is all so non-sensical to begin with. And when you don't spell it out exactly (or even if you do) you know how those funny humans will all magically just get along, right!

In this case, we'll try to be real thorough here

The Gentle Goddess Dietima and The Great God Lardicus are Divine Brother and Sister. However, they are also Husband and Wife. And The Great God Lardicus is the child of Himself and The Gentle Goddess Dietima. As is Dietima. They love each other, but argue and even fight regularly for a variety of reasons that we won't go into here because we want people to make up their own reasons, which they can then fight over.

We don't even have to explain how any of this is possible because they are Gods and can do whatever they want. We don't want to specify who was born first or the details of their immaculate self-conceptions, because that might give one side the upper hand in any arguments. Remember Rule Number 5 Keep it ambiguous.

The Gentle Goddess Dietima and The Great God Lardicus may or may not have other children, parents, siblings or acquaintances. We can add them in later if we want or need to, and then the old-timers (historians, scholars, etc.) can fight the new converts (who are always the most passionate about things) about whether they should "really" be in the pantheon or not, since they weren't there in the beginning. We'll probably just say we found some ancient scrolls that nobody is allowed to examine that mentioned them when we want to add in any new characters. That'll be fun!

The warning has been given about religious clerics/monks/chiefs (etc), consuming people's money illicitly.

Luckily we have such terminology now.. it's called "Scam-Artists"...

Those clerics, priests, monks are very good at drama play...
