I feel like I'm losing my faith for a few reasons I won't get into yet.

My issue is how do I know the Qur'an is the word of God? Why should I believe that God wrote the Qur'an?

How do I reconcile verses that allow me to hit my wife, wage war on disbelievers, and claims like the moon was split in two?

How do I know if I'm "feeling God" or if it's just some chemicals in my brain? Is God really here with me? Am I praying to God or to my window?

I've been losing my faith lately not only in the Qur'an but in God Himself. I look at the Christians and tell them their books are clearly not the word of God yet I don't look at my own scripture with the same rational mind.

      Salam Faithful-Jinn,

Your interpretation of daraba to mean beating your wife can be rejected

        Dear Faithful Jinn,

I am happy that you came to this point. I suggest you NOT to believe in AlQuraan being The Book from Allah blindly.

And please DO NOT compare others understanding with AlQuraan. Do you own research. Simply you are believing the story of splitting moon into two and relating it with AlQuraan sura AlQamr . Do you really understand this aayat in its true meaning? I am sure that you don't, but still you believe in such stories and relate it with AlQuraan, why?

Once when I was Dubai , I decided not to believe in AlQuraan as The Book of Allah, because there are many other books available in the world claiming to be from Allah/God.

But unlike you, I did not started disbelieving in Allah, but I did research on it, I blanked my mind and then started studying all books which are know to be divine from God with a critical thinking. Such as Bible, Geeta, etc. etc. I decided to take out errors from all books and I succeeded in doing so.

But when I tried AlQuraan, I was forced to believe in it to be a divine Book. I found this Book flawless, and started believing in it and left other books that I had to study.

You can do the same, forget about Allah, forget about AlQuraan, just take AlQuraan as a normal Book and try to take out contradictions in it and keep your questions alive that "why should I believe this Book being from Allah" while your research and study on AlQuraan.

You will surely get your answers, inshaAllah.

Keep in mind 482 while doing your research.

        482
482 Then do they not reflect upon the Quraan? If it had been from other than Allah , they would have found within it much contradiction.

You don't have to believe it but its a challenge you have to take when you start your research. And after doing some of your research recall 223-24

        223
        224

Hope this may help you inshaAllah,

        mmKhan

I will try that because lately I've been feeling like the Qur'an could be man made and like I am doing rituals for nothing. I'm spending my life trying to please this invisible authority and I'm not happy.

Am I wasting time trying to please a Being that doesn't exist? Or if God is real is it really the God of Abraham or is the Abrahamic faiths wrong?

I want some sort of answers.

In addition to what mmkhan has said. Some places to start...

How do I reconcile verses that allow me to hit my wife,

            See www.Quran434.com

            wage war on disbelievers,

            See www.misconceptions-about-islam.com

and claims like the moon was split in two?

This possibly refers to the moon being breached, and may be a prophecy regarding the moon landing. You can research this.

            And lastly http//www.quran434.com/Does-God-Exist.pdf

All information is correct to the best of my knowledge only and thus should not be taken as a fact. One should always seek knowledge and verify for themselves when possible: 17:36, 20:114, 35:28, 49:6, 58:11.

              Salam Faithful-Jinn,

If you believe in a God then you're a submitter and if you believe that the God of Abraham is the God that you submit to then you're a believer..

If you think you're wasting time, then ask yourself what made you seek God in the first place?
If you don't have one, then i suggest you have one for a start

                Peace Faithfull jinn

I will try to give you some input on your dilemma by trying to answer some of your questions.

1 I feel like I'm losing my faith for a few reasons I won't get into yet.

Its the reasons that are the problem not the faith face up to your reasons take the good with the bad and move on,Live in the present moment .

2 My issue is how do I know the Qur'an is the word of God?

You don,t but does that stop you being a good caring person.

3 Why should I believe that God wrote the Qur'an?

The Quran has been around for 1500 years approx ,good caring humans have been around a lot longer and are still around don't lose any sleep over who wrote the Quran .

4 How do I reconcile verses that allow me to hit my wife, wage war on disbelievers, and claims like the moon was split in two?

Do you normally believe every thing you read or do you thoroughly check cross reference and use reason before you come to a conclusion.

5 How do I know if I'm "feeling God" or if it's just some chemicals in my brain?

Just feel man let your chemicals play happy buggers .Go and make love to your partner how does it feel ,go and stroke a cat how does it feel ,learn to sing dance laugh and think how it feels .YOU HAVE TO LEARN HOW TO FEEL FIRST.The rest will come

6 Is God really here with me?

What if there is no One are you going to stop living are you going to stop being a caring loving peaceful person ?

7 Am I praying to God or to my window?

Does The One need your prayers or is it you who needs to pray .Start looking through the window instead of at the window its a fantastic view out there try it you may find answers to what you are seeking.

8 I've been losing my faith lately not only in the Qur'an but in God Himself.

No you are starting to ask questions you are starting to free your self its scary but the answers are out there do not give in you will become a better person for it.

9 look at the Christians and tell them their books are clearly not the word of God yet I don't look at my own scripture with the same rational mind.

You got to start some were and it looks like you have started.

                Peace Salim

                  Dear brother,

OK, I agree for the highlighted part above. But just think, IF there IS NO God/Allah and you are trying to please Him, what are you losing??? Nothing! Isn't it?

And IF there IS God/Allah how you gonna answer Him?

First of all, try to do what I said earlier in my previous post. Then secondly, try to get answers for the following

1- How you came into existence? Why your height stop growing at some age? Why you will get older after a certain period? How your body, respiratory system, signaling of brains, immune system, auto-repairing of your body damages during your sleep, etc are working without your interference and knowledge?

2- Why always female delivers? Humans, birds, animals, fishes, etc. in all how only female delivers? Why never male delivers in any creation?

3- In humans if baby is born mother know how to take care, feed, etc. to her baby, in some birds male and female both knows how to lay their eggs and how to feed their babies, in some other birds only female knows how to lay and take care of their chicks, how? Who taught them? Fishes know their babies know how to take care of themselves, so both father and mother never take care of their babies, how they know? If we humans and other cattle, birds do the same as fishes, our babies die within two or three days.

4- How flowers n fruits brings up their seeds to keep their breed alive?

There are thousands of questions, only if you want to think and surely you will get your answer in them inshaAllah. It is highly impossible for everything to work on such a creative, successful and perfect way without anyone to handle it.

May Allah increase us in knowledge and guide us to His true path pr
                  mmKhan

PS. Brother please do as I suggested as your home work, inshaAllah you will be saved.

God doesn't need you or me to please Him. God has no needs. Believing in God and following God's scriptures are for our benefit only. Either we see it or we don't. Personally, God of Abraham and scriptures has helped me to understand people, life and purpose.

You're loosing faith because faith is a stupid thing to have, just baseless trust with no evidence.
The Quran is corrupted, the translations mostly, read things here servantofthelight.com and look if it seems reasonable to you

My experience has been that scriptures are not relevant but personal experiences in our lives that leads to skepticism. More precisely disappointments, failures, pain and trauma. You need to identify those first and see where the skepticism is coming. Quran or not those kinds of feelings(they are feelings and not thoughts) won't go away.

What did Allah do to you that you are loosing faith in Him? What did He ask from you, what you found difficult?

I understand that you have trouble with some verses of The Quran. But where is the trouble? Is it in The Quran or is it in you?

Please reflect on the next verses

917 And a soul and what He made.
918 So He gave it its evil and good.
919 Successful is the one who betters it.
9110 And failing is the one who hides it.

3917 And for those who avoid serving evil, and turn to God in repentance, for them are glad tidings. So give the good news to My servants.
3918 The ones who listen to what is being said, and then follow the best of it. These are the ones whom God has guided, and these are the ones who possess intelligence.

5677 It is an honorable Quran.
                            5678 In a protected Book.
5679 None can grasp it except those purified.
5680 A revelation from the Lord of the worlds.

Ok without using AlQuran, do you think hitting your wife is good or evil? Allah already gave you this instinct, so this is not difficult question.
So where is the trouble, is it in The Book of Allah or is it in your own understanding?

3918 The ones who listen to what is being said, and then follow the best of it. These are the ones whom God has guided, and these are the ones who possess intelligence.

5677 It is an honorable Quran.
                              5678 In a protected Book.
5679 None can grasp it except those purified.
5680 A revelation from the Lord of the worlds.

Ok without using AlQuran, do you think hitting your wife is good or evil? Allah already gave you this instinct, so this is not difficult question.
So where is the trouble, is it in The Book of Allah or is it in your own understanding?

                              Salam bender,

                              i agree..
it's like we have a choice in this current world we're living in either to create/manifest heaven or create/manifest hell..
(choice 1) hell is when we misinterpret the meaning..
(choice 2) hell is when we interpret the meaning correctly but we choose the dark side/gloomy side..

                              while on the other hand
(choice 3) heaven is when we interpret the meaning correctly but we choose the brighter/idealistic side..

it's a harder choice for the latter, has lesser likelihood of achieving (1 out 3 choices) , but if we strive for it and believe in it then it can become reality..

                              salam

The basis of the trouble is not just whether a verse goes against human reason.

It's whether this book is truly from God. Whether every single ayah of this book is truly a miracle. Whether every single letter of the Qur'an is truthful.

Using reason and logic I try to answer these questions.

For example the moon being cleft asunder. Was the moon split in two during Muhammad's time? Is it really okay to discipline my wife using physical violence? You guys can say fancy words all you want but I believe the verse is clear I don't see anyone addressing that question of mine.

The regular Quranist belief although it's very wise compared to others it still has a lot of flaws and idiocy too. Read articles on that side for perfectly reasonable views
