Excellent explanation of the word Salat? = Sol-laa!
-
Salaam brother GodSubmitter,
I respect work of Aidid Safar but I personally don't agree on what they said about "Salaat".
He should discuss on Arabic word instead of pointing mistakes in transliteration? This is of no use. It is not important really how you transliterate any Arabic AlQuraanic word into another language. Either you write Salaat or Sol-laa or Sol-laat or Sol-loo or Salat it has nothing to do with he word in Arabic. We are using it just to understand or to refer an Arabic word. That's it.
Please check the following thread, inshaAllah it may help you understand root of Salaat. Root has been discussed compare to other words used in AlQuraan on same weight. Please check...

Thank you for your answer @mmkhan, but I am just fed up with all those ramifications of roots and words, and cannot believe that God had so much difficulty in expressing Himself...
I am just not interested in such a schizophrenic message from such a disordered and illiterate a god.Excuse me gentlemen, I just need to put some order in my Quran "context" before dismissing the whole thing completely as a perfect fraud, with, or without the 19 miracle!

You are welcome bro,
You are absolutely free to chose your way.
But I just wanted to make it clear that God has no difficulty in expressing Himself, but these hurdles has been kept in AlQuraan to score your points. Who crossed more hurdles successively, he scores the most. That's simple it is.
mmKhan
-
Huh? God playing some games?
Scores needed? Is that how he establishes his universal message for all humanity and for all times?
Strange... hurdles... scores...
???
And of course I am free to make my choice, do not need a permission from you or anybody else.
No need to be so presumptuous, Mister. -
I am no one to give you permission. You took it wrong bro.
Yes, I put forward my understanding about hurdles and scores... this is my personal understanding, and it helps me always.
Finally,
1041
1041 And if they deny you, then say, "For me are my deeds, and for you are your deeds. You are disassociated from what I do, and I am disassociated from what you do."Good luck brother,

I find it odd that God would command us to "establish" or "stand up". or be "firm" or "find strength through" salat.
What does it mean to establish? To stand up? To be firm?
I am not a morning person waking up with the birds before the crack of dawn. If I am awakened from deep sleep just before the alarm goes off, i struggle to get through the day and my performance is somehow impaired. Now, why would God want me to wake up from dead sleep, go wash myself up and praise him? God has no needs. But I need my sleep. Does God not care or understand my need to get a good night of sleep?
I have not read about this aidid safar or watched the videos but this ritual salat sure doesnt make much sense to me.

Peace justamuslim.
I was pondering your quote
I am not a morning person waking up with the birds before the crack of dawn. If I am awakened from deep sleep just before the alarm goes off, i struggle to get through the day and my performance is somehow impaired. Now, why would God want me to wake up from dead sleep, go wash myself up and praise him? God has no needs. But I need my sleep. Does God not care or understand my need to get a good night of sleep?
The following questions came to my mind
- Do we really know how many hours of sleep is good for us?
- What about those who have jobs that requires them to start at dawn?
- Is what we want beneficial to us?
- Is that kind of attitude the right one to have?
Please sister do not get me wrong, I agree with you that God does not need anything from anyone.
However, I really believe that God knows what is best for us.
Also sister I am not asking you to get up to pray or do anything, I am just discussing the tone and attitude of the statement. We could try and justify doing whatever we want and claim that God would approve. However the Qoran teaches that with " pain there is gain" and that the " self" inspires us to do what is bad for us.
Peace.

Also sister I am not asking you to get up to pray or do anything, I am just discussing the tone and attitude of the statement.
It's very, very difficult to assess tone in a written message. Usually we read the tone to be what our own assumptions tell us. This is a dilemma that makes conversation on forums very tricky... it is so extremely easy to misunderstand... and we do indeed so many useless arguments pop up all the time. I'm saying this out of my own experience. Sometimes I ask myself if I really understand the other person's tone, or if it is just my own ego telling me what the tone is. I can be quite interesting to ponder over, and often revealing about the mechanics of the human mind.
However the Qoran teaches that with " pain there is gain" and that the " self" inspires us to do what is bad for us.
Can you give some references to where in the quran I can read this, if you have it easily available. I would like to investigate these things further for some other ideas I have.
Peace and kind regards
-
Peace Zulf.
First what I meant by " Tone and attitude" is putting ourselves first. Just because we like to do something, it does not mean it is good for us. It was a general comment not meant any other way.
Now let me give you few verses you requested
4731
We will certainly put you to the test, in order to distinguish those among you who strive, and steadfastly persevere. We must expose your true qualities.5039-41
Therefore, be patient in the face of their utterances, and praise and glorify your Lord before sunrise, and before sunset.During the night you shall meditate on His name, and after prostrating.
Prepare for the day when the caller calls from a place that is near.
Preparing for the Lord requires hard work?
51;16-18
They receive their Lord's rewards, for they used to be pious.Rarely did they sleep the whole night.
At dawn, they prayed for forgiveness.
5248-49
You shall steadfastly persevere in carrying out your Lord's command - you are in our eyes - and glorify and praise your Lord when you get up.Also during the night glorify Him, and at dawn as the stars fade away.
And " Inna maa al-usri yusran" ie With pain there is gain.
Peace brother.

Salaam JaM,
At what time do you goto your bed? If you don't mind me asking.
mmKhan
I go to bed or should go to bed when I am sleepy as I have short window period where if I am not in bed then I am wasted. Mostly I am in bed between 1030 to 1130 pm. If I am not sleepy then it doesn't matter if I go to bed earlier than that. I wake up between 630 to 730 am. I am at work most days at 9am. My boss and people at work know that I am not an early riser. Often times, they try to accommodate by having meetings later in the day.
-

- Is what we want beneficial to us?
- Is that kind of attitude the right one to have?
I don't know if your questions were rhetorical but I will answer them as your question doesn't surprise me really.
To answer your 1st question.... There are no magical numbers. The national sleep foundation has guidelines noting that number of hours needed changes with age with newborns needing 12-18 hours of sleep and an average adult needing 7-9 hours. But no one can say exactly how many hours an individual requires as it varies from person to person. You may be fine with 5 hours of sleep but another person may need 10 hours of sleep to be at his best and most productive. Some are night owls and some are early birds.
What we do know is the adverse affects of disrupted or disturbed or inadequate or not restful sleep. We know how it affects performance, memory, and mood. Not only that but we are learning poor sleep increases risk of diabetes, heart disease and other medical conditions.
I know how it affects me if I am awakened just before I would normally wake up. I am not a morning person or a night owl. I need, not just the quantity but the quality of sleep also. God who created me knows this about me since I was a child. He knows about my sleep requirements and how i am affected by inadequte or poor sleep. Now, I have a lifestyle that suits me but for years I had poor sleep pattern. Chronically sleep deprived and in sleep debt. Couple of times fell asleep on the wheel driving back home. Thank God nothing happened.
To answer your 3rd question Yes, I do know what I need is beneficial to me when it comes to sleep. I need my sleep and if my sleep is disturbed, basically I am not as productive. I am impaired. No, I don't consume caffeine to self medicate compensating for poor sleep. I am a proponent of clean, healthy lifestyle. As I am more than positive so is God.
I also know that God has no needs and most certainly doesn't need me or any of you guys for that matter to praise Him. Well, you don't have to take my word for it as you can all read it for yourself in the Koran. God says so Himself that he is above all needs. He doesn't need me to wake up from deep sleep, wash myself and praise him. But I need my rested sleep to be my best. i am sure God knows that i need to be most productive at work considering the kind of job that I do where a mistake can cost a life.
To answer your 4th question about my attitude and if it is the right attitude to have I will leave to God to personally answer this question that you ask.
I don't believe God is what I have been mislead and continue to be mislead into believing by people using the same words of God. The God that I believe is not this angry superficial rigid God who obsesses over form, numbers, timing, rituals and such. instead the God that i believe in is the most loving, caring, understanding God who wants me to shine with happiness, who likes to make life easy for me not wishing hardship as He does not benefit from watching me suffer. More than that, God doesn't want me to suffer. This is the nature and essence of God. Do you dispute that?
I believe God when he tells me that he is the best of friends which he has proven to be time and time over. I believe him when he tells me that he is near the moment he calls me and doesn't place any conditions on whether I am filthy, super clean, sitting, standing, lying down or upside down, on my menses, sick, at home or work or anywhere. The moment I call him, God is near and hears me. When I am feeling stressed and unable to sleep, God is there when I call upon him to calm me down. He is with me when I go to sleep and He is with me when I wake up. And is with me throughout the day even when i don't call upon him.
And I am grateful to God for helping me to finally see that it was not Him who said salat is this ritual worship and many other things people allege God said or commanded.
Your 2nd question... Ok what about those who have to go to work at dawn? There was a time when I had to wake up at 3 am to leave the house by 4 am so I can be at work by 5 am, working all day, all night and the next day all day only to go home that following night. So? That's what I had to do and thank God those days are long gone.
About your "no pain, no gain" statements and verses that you quoted from the Koran, will address that later as I am getting sleepy now. )
-
Peace justamuslim.
Thank you for your answer.
Point 1- I have commented in general. I did not know your personal circumstances. Please believe me when I keep saying that only God knows our hearts and intentions. I was trying hard to make sure I do not make any assumptions about you personally.
point 2- Quote
I don't believe God is what I have been mislead and continue to be mislead into believing by people using the same words of God. The God that I believe is not this angry superficial rigid God who obsesses over form, numbers, timing, rituals and such. instead the God that i believe in is the most loving, caring, understanding God who wants me to shine with happiness, who likes to make life easy for me not wishing hardship as He does not benefit from watching me suffer. I totally agree with and endorse what you said.
Point 3- God has allowed every human the " choice" Who am I to take that away from them?
2267 For each congregation, We have decreed a set of rites that they must uphold. ( to test their loyalty to GOD ALONE!) Therefore, they should not dispute with you. You shall continue to invite everyone to your Lord ( GOD ALONE!) ..."
2268 If they argue with you , then say? GOD is fully aware of everything you do.?
2269 God will judge among you on the day of Resurrection regarding all your disputes.?
Keep your loyalty to your Creator,it is between you and Him.
Apologies if I misread/ misunderstood you.
Peace sister. -

This translation is horrible. I don't know really why you bring such translations brother. It simply means "Indeed, with hardship there is ease".

Quote This translation is horrible. I don't know really why you bring such translations brother. It simply means "Indeed, with hardship there is ease".
"Indeed with hardship there is ease" and " With pain there is gain" you see differences?
Brother, you will be going around in circles trying to explain plenty. One day you might realise that God tries believers( If you have not realised already!) by sending messengers?
Peace.
