Has anyone pointed a compass at the Kaaba?

Has anyone ever pointed a compass at the site Kaaba? Is it true that the compass points towards the Kaaba itself and not to the magnetic north?
Sunnis have been telling me that magnetic north is Kaaba. There is no way I can verify this except by hearing evidence from those who visited the Kaaba itself.
It's as if I'm hearing this story from the series Lost. -

If you are in Mekka at the mosque and you are doing that 7 circles around the kabaa do you think your compass will always point to the Kabaa?Salaam,

Well, there is no way to verify this unless we go at the Kaaba itself. My grandfather once told me that when you circumbulate the Kaaba, the needle always points to the Kaaba.

If the kaaba is the 'magnetic north' as some "knowledgeable" sunnis may have claimed... then just pick up a compass and check for yourself, wherever you are. Does the needle point towards the north pole and arctic, or does it point towards the arabian peninsula? Last time I check, the needle pointed towards the geographic north. I wouldn't give much worth to statements that rise out of arrogance combined with ignorance, like much of religious statements.
Or is the kaaba some sort of local north? How far does that magnetic anomaly extend? Is there anything about this in any type of literature? And I mean scientific or historic literature, not literature of hallucinational accounts of unicorns and pegasi? Such an anomaly would be very interesting scientifically. Where is the corresponding south pole then. Magnetic poles come in pairs. It's a funny idea though that a scientific mind could enjoy thinking about.
But I agree, the best is to check and verify for oneself.

If the compass always pointed to the useless stone cube then the Saudis wouldn't have had to import "prayer rugs" from China with cheap defective compasses to find out where the cube is during prayer.

Back in the days of my ignorance I had one of those compass things to find the Qibla, the compass pointed north, as they do, and a little booklet told me where the Qibla was in relation to magnetic north and where I was in UK, so no they don't point to the Kaaba, they point north.
