    Salaam.

It kind of dawned on me this morning...Prophet Muhammed would not have prayed the tajahuud prayer...simply because "Peace be upon you, O Prophet, and the mercy and blessings of Allah..." doesn't make sense if it was coming from the Prophet. Obviously that was added by someone else....I wonder what kind of response I would get from a Sunni muslim if I pointed that out...

    Just thinking (finally!!!)...

    Peace,

    Amina

      lol brings back memories
      Peace scaredmuslimah,

The verse that we used as sunni to commemerate the prophet muhammad
I think was used out of context It becomes obvious when I read surah 33
it is refering to the prophet during his lifetime.

      033.056
Inna Allaha wamala-ikatahu yusalloona AAala alnnabiyyi ya ayyuha allatheena amanoo salloo AAalayhi wasallimoo tasleeman
YUSUFALI Allah and His angels send blessings on the Prophet O ye that believe! Send ye blessings on him, and salute him with all respect.
PICKTHAL Lo! Allah and His angels shower blessings on the Prophet. O ye who believe! Ask blessings on him and salute him with a worthy salutation.
SHAKIR Surely Allah and His angels bless the Prophet; O you who believe! call for (Divine) blessings on him and salute him with a (becoming) salutation.
KHALIFA GOD and His angels help and support the prophet. O you who believe, you shall help and support him, and regard him as he should be regarded.

Logically speaking, the prophet will be of the "elite of the elite" on judgement day!
He dosen't need my blessing or anything else I have to offer, It is ME who is in need.
Not only did the prophet not say it, it makes no sense for us to say it.
the reason it makes no sense for us to ask Allah to grant mercy and blessing
on the prophet is because he has already attained the mercy and blessing of Allah

It's like wishing Bill Gates was rich or Michael Jordan could play basketball
      Key word is redundant

      Peace O0

I thought that too! And when I pray, I don't ask for peace and blessings upson myself...I ask for mercy and forgiveness, so I am sure the prophet asked even more so.

        Peace,

        Amina
