Yes, we kind of have the same problem, though not directly.
An advice would be just to pray for your kids,And they say, "Our Lord, let our spouses and children be a source of joy for us, and keep us in the forefront of the righteous."
He created you from one person (Adam). Subsequently, He gives every man a mate to find tranquility with her. She then carries a light load that she can hardly notice. As the load gets heavier, they implore GOD their Lord "If You give us a good baby, we will be appreciative."

So, I have a 6 month old daughter and live out in the middle of nowhere in the States. Does anyone else with children (or planning to have) ever feel worried that technically we do not have a community to bring our kids up in? In a way, I think maybe it's a good thing. My daughter will be able to think for herself and make decisions without biases or influences from others in the community. However, then I also think about all of the peer pressure involving alcohol, sex, drugs, materialism, etc. I think about the kind of friends she will have..and whether she will feel alone. I often feel alone because it's difficult to come across like minded people to spend time with. I recently spoke to a friend on facebook in regard to his (too bad he and his family live overseas), and he advised me with some verses in the Quran (basically about enjoining with others in good works) about befriending different kinds of people as long as they do try to keep you from practicing your faith. Still, I find it difficult and I can only imagine that it would be more difficult for a teenager or young adult. Sometimes, I just wish we had things that "organized" groups have such as a house of worship, children's groups, organized events that are charity related, etc. I guess it's difficult as we're kind of dispersed and plus we have the threat of sectarians looming over us. I don't know..any thoughts??
Okay, I need to ask (if you are willing to share) where is the 'middle of nowhere" USA? And I too have these concerns because I have a 4 month old daughter whose father follows Sunni Islam. I know that as she gets older she is going to be confused as to why her dad prays one way and I pray another, why the other Muslim women cover and I don't.
I think in the next few years, more progress will be made in this area. I have come across so many other God Alone Muslims here in the U.S. on YouTube and Facebook.

Does your husband know about your beliefs? Is he okay with you teaching your daughter what your beliefs are?
I really feel for you..it must be difficult. My husband and I share the same beliefs..so God willing we'll be able to be on the same page in most aspects. I guess it's society that I worry more about. Though, nothing in life is ever perfect..so maybe I am just overthinking this.
Does your husband mind if you talk to him about the knowledge you have acquired? God willing, He will also guide your husband to what is true. PM me if you ever want to talk ) Yes, I am actually thinking about opening up a facebook account. I closed mine a few years back.. but I think it's time that I create one again. The online community will hopefully materialize into something bigger..God willing.

It's perfectly normal to worry about things and the future when you have children, that's part of the job of being a parent. As long as you talk to your children about anything, let nothing be a taboo subject and explain why they can't do this or that or why you would prefer they didn't do this or that. (talking peer pressure)
This was posted on FB yesterday, which I thought was truly wonderful, what a woman! It might help inspire what type of child you raise and really shows the values instilled in this lady.

Thank you for that link. I've actually seen Sikh women with that appearance. They've taken "Amrit" or are considered to be baptized. As a result, they are expected to follow a certain protocol in regard to their overall appearance and behavior. I really admire her for her courage.
My husband and I both come from fairly conservative homes where things like sex and relationships were not openly talked about. My father especially NEVER talked about these things until I became pregnant with my daughter..and then we eventually discussed a few things. Though, my father-in-law these days is very upfront and approachable in these matters, and my sister in laws are mashallah very well behaved girls (even though they technically aren't God alone submitters). So, I definitely agree with you in that nothing should be taboo, and I told my husband that our daughter should never have to feel ashamed in approaching him either. Sometimes, with girls..they take advice in regard to relationships muc better from their fathers. Thanks for the advice.

LOL! No way is he okay with it! He called me a "Hadith Rejector" a couple of weeks back after going through the internet history pages and finding a few links to some YouTube videos. My husband converted to Islam in prison...so it's either obedience to the Prophet or death. Seriously.

Exactly. It's a sad existence for him in my eyes...Islam is not a gang, with Muhammed as the Mob Boss and Allah as the Big Cheese (astafirughlla). The only one we worship and fear is Allah, and he has reminded us in the Qur'an of his mercy and compassion, but also that he does NOT accept worship of anyone but Him.
Unfortunately, there are many here in the U.S. that think and worship the way he does, and it sickens me. One of his friends actually said over the phone "That is the problem with Islam today...too many people thinking and not enough just following what we have been given by the Prophet." Seriously??? Yes, follow the Qur'an, but ponder on it, think, learn.
The result of not thinking and only following (and following false teachings at that) is what we have seen on television and in the news as of late...people killing for something extremely silly, and then marring the face our beautiful deen.
May Allah guide us on the straight path.

My friend's son converted a while back, he is the same as that too, very 'praise Muhammed, dress like Muhammed, follow Muhammed' type and in a discussion with him on FB he was telling me that Arabic is the language spoken in Heaven as that was the language of Quran, then I asked about Hebrew and Aramaic........and that from God are all languages so I don't think there will be a problem.........he's not spoken to me since, but he's still on my friends list ;D
This happens with sooooo many converts, they become the fanatics, the terrorists that the world sees as Islam.

Him "No. The Sahaba and narrators were the most upright next to the Prophet. They couldn't even tell a lie or then their testimony couldn't be accepted."
Me "How do you know they never told any lies? Were you there?"
Him "Allah knows best."
It's almost fruitless asking him (and others like him) things at times. There is no way to get them to question anything regarding hadith, and if he has to answer a question, he calls up a knowledgeable friend to give the answer. Very rarely do I see him pick up the Qur'an and look for himself.
Sometimes I wonder if he is afraid to look...to learn that just maybe he has been wrong about things. At that point, I feel sorry for him (and others like him). What would it be like to find out that everything you worshipped and relied on was nothing more than misinformation? I know I would be scared.

647 Those who disbelieve claim that they will not be resurrected! Yes indeed by your Lord, you will be resurrected and you will be held accountable for everything you have done. This is easy for GOD to do.?
6723 Say? HE is the ONE who initiated you, granted you the hearing , the eyesight and the brain. Rarely are you appreciative.?

7222 Say? No one can protect me from GOD, nor can I find any refuge beside HIM.? ( If I followed other idols/ sources)
7510 The human being will say on that day ( day of Resurrection)? Where is the escape?? ?
7511Absolutely, there is no escape!?
7512 To your Lord on that day is the final destiny.?
826 O human being, what diverted you from your Lord most Honourable??
827 The ONE who created you, designed you and perfected you.?

6115 If you obey the majority of people on earth, they will divert you from the path of GOD. They follow only conjecture; They only guess.?

I'm sorry to hear about the situation with your husband. Perhaps your influence will help him see things differently, God willing. I feel a little scared for you though &, sometimes allegiance to this perceived character of Prophet Muhammed is so strong, that it can turn a person angry and violent towards those who resist. Don't mind me giving you this advice of treading carefully, sister.
He embraced this way of life when he was in prison..at a time when he probably felt really down and had a lot of time to try and find some meaning in his life, and then he found what he understands to be the Truth. It reminds of me of Malcolm X in prison finding Islam and then subsequently..turning his entire life around for the better. It would probably be too emotionally taxing to try and even question those convictions that hold one together. However, we'll pray that he comes around and his mind awakens to what it really means to submit, God willing.

Isn't it interesting how so many know his story yet they fall right into the same trap he did...following someone because they seem so educated and on the right path. I think for African American men it gives them some sense of importance in a world where the feel so worthless. Unfortunately, many of them don't see that self worth comes from within, not from education, wealth, or social status. They become apathetic...and turn to violence and crime to make a way for themselves.
I am not afraid of him one bit. Once I realized that he has to rely on he knowledge of others to get by, he no longer became a threat spiritually for me. Insha'Allah, I will continue to grow stronger.

For Malcolm X, as for many other African Americans who as you say felt worthless, the sad part was they were indoctrinated into 'Nation of Islam' which is NOT Islam at all, certainly in the sense that you had to be black to be in it! When he went to hajj he saw the difference, so they killed him. Such a sad story, such a great man. peace

"Self-worth comes from within" So true. I've known people with all of the material comforts of this world..but still lacking in self-esteem and self-worth. Though, I think that education and being financially comfortable can alleviate some of the stresses of life and allow one to feel better about themselves. I think it was Malcolm X who said that education was the passport to the future. Of course, education in itself can be defined in so many ways. I think your husband is very blessed to have you in his life as you are blessed to have him.

I've only seen the move where I think it was Denzel Washington that acts in it? Very impressive and one of my all time favorites. I think that if he were around today..perhaps he would join our little movement here..God only knows.
