So brother Mazhar I chose spiritual purity in understanding 5679
because Quran is a book of guidance and we can get guidance only if we approach it with pure mind without any pre-conceived concepts. Of course it is my understanding.

Guidance from any book is obtained only by reading it academically without bias.

The Passive participle is made from passive verb. And they are the subject of which signifies the feel-sensation of touch; hand on a thing without having anything between.

      peace GL,

      1. I do not consider your translations accurate.

I see a context of Masjid Al Haram starting at 2124.i.e from Abraham.

AMAH is never mentioned with Abraham.

So obviously the rest of the verses all the way to 2163 are talking about the same subject of Masjid Al Haram, beyt, kiblah, deen/Millat of Abraham .

      Not according to
2141 That was a community that passed away, to them is what they earned and to you is what you have earned; you will not be asked about what they used to do.

Of course my understanding has not given me any complication .

It can seem like that if one dodges the questions.

Elsewhere in Qoran,it is confirmed that "Iquami salat" was passed down from generation to another from Abraham

      You've claimed this for years

        Peace Wakas.

        1. All translations have to be checked including yours and mine and anybody else. They can never replace the original text that GOD preserved for all of us.

        2. In the context of the verses 2123-124...163,beyt,beyt Muharram, Maquam Ibrahim and Masjid Al Haram are the same place in my view of the verses and
          2225
Surely, those who disbelieve and repulse others from the path of God, and from the Masjid Al Haram that we designated for all the people - be they natives or visitors - and seek to pollute it and corrupt it, we will afflict them with painful retribution.

        2226
We appointed Abraham to establish the Shrine "You shall not idolize any other god beside Me, and purify My beyt for those who visit it, those who live near it, and those who bow and prostrate.

        1. But according to 235-236 and "Thumma Ayhaina Ilaika An Ittabi Millat Abraham...i.e you follow Millat Abraham.

        2. If it dodges your questions ,I do not have your issues/questions.

        3. If I claimed ,I have given verses for my understanding, quote
          Thank you once more.
Let me explain further, Why I think "salat" is part of the rites of "Millat" or " Deen"....of Abraham
          2124
Recall that Abraham was put to the test by his Lord, through certain commands, and he fulfilled them. (God) said, "I am appointing you an imam for the people." He said, "And also my descendants?" He said, "My covenant does not include the transgressors.

        2127
As Abraham raised the foundations of the shrine, together with Ismail (they prayed) "Our Lord, accept this from us. You are the Hearer, the Omniscient.

        2128
"Our Lord, make us Muslims to You, and from our descendants let there be a community of Muslims to You. Teach us the rites of our religion, and redeem us. You are the Redeemer, Most Merciful.

        2130
Who would forsake the Millat of Abraham, except one who fools his own soul? We have chosen him in this world, and in the Hereafter he will be with the righteous.

        2132
Moreover, Abraham exhorted his children to do the same, and so did Jacob "O my children, God has pointed out the Deen for you; do not die except as Muslimeen."

I hope this clarifies for you my understanding of why I think the rites ,including "salat" have originated from Abraham.

Of course these are my views/understanding. Like I said I do not see the problems you see.
Hope that explains why I conversed with you here. And of course you are entitled to your views.
        GOD bless you.
        Peace.

            Peace,

It seems the contexts starting from the verse 142 in chapter 2 denotes an issue related to geographical direction because, the answer for the question (of the ignorant/foolish) in the beginning verse (with the terms ‘wallaa&#039 and ‘qibla&#039) itself involves geographical directions, i.e. Mashriq & Maghrib.

            — To the best of my current understanding (17:36). من الله كل خير ولله الحمد
"O you who have attained to faith! Surrender yourselves wholly unto God ..." [2:208], [3:102]

              Peace,

              peace,
I can understand why you'd say that but, quote from article " the following verses also clearly imply turning to a specific direction is irrelevant, e.g. 2115 says "for God is the east and the west so wherever you turn so there is God's wajh/presence/consideration...", 2177 "...it is not righteousness that you turn your wujuh/faces/considerations towards/qibala the east and the west...""

In any case, simply pondering over one point is unlikely to get us further in our understanding. The article highlights multiple issues to ponder over to see which understanding fits best. Member imrankhawaja summed it up well on page 26, quote

"today i read all of this thread,
so far nobody attempted the points what wakas raised (including me) lol when they bring their understanding then we will weigh the evidences on the table."

              Update
I havent been able to verify Mazhar's grammar claims with regard to "Wamin haythu kharajta". I would be surprised if it was true however. In any case, it doesn't stop one from answering other issues etc.

It's only been 6 years since the article was published, perhaps they need more time...

                @ wakas
also few days ago i was researching about the word ?QIBLA? in URDU language.
what i found is interesting to share.
URDU borrowed this word from arabic and its meaning in urdu is ?DIRECTION? any direction its not a physical place.

in proverb/saying a famous one is ?apna Qibla dursut karo? = (correct ur QIBLA) meanings of proverb/saying is correct ur WAYs/paths in a sense when someone is going on wrong track of life.

it was always more than one views of these terms but people appear to force it by saying qibla = kabba in makka.

your approach on qibla and kaba is amazing in your articles i read it many times for better understanding. i suggest memebers to do same like take their time.

                  Brother waqas
These days I am looking for a bride... So I tell them about my nature and what is my belief... Whenever I tell this is my belief they all escape... Saying all new invention... So I always send your mypercept link... At least they get some guidance... But they all block me... I wonder I will ever find a wife.. Ladies... If you are interested... My door is open....
Okay let me turn to masjid haram... I won't agree with that.... For me masjid = sanctuary (either man made and or natural) Haram = restricted... It is a restricted sanctuary..... That's all not inviolable and that stuff.... If you ask any questions I will respond... Thank you... And I am sure you are very knowledgeable to think differently....
                  God guide you further

                    peace all,

                    imran,
what you say about "qibla" does not surprise me. A significant discovery in the article was the following, quote
"in 2148 the usage of "wherever" is the ONLY time it appears without a close link to "turn+wajh+AMAH" therefore likens "wijhatun (direction/course/goal/motive)" with "qiblah"....... ........ ...... Furthermore, AQ implies each person may have their own "qiblah" in 2145 then later in 2148 says "for each is a wijhatun he turns towards it", strongly suggesting "qiblah" and "wijhatun" are being related as similar terms/concepts. Please re-read these verses as this is a key finding."

                    qiblah = direction/course/goal/motive

It's bot coz it is too much to handle dear brother... It's coz not interested to look the truth or other dimension or to give chance to anything other than what they are brought up..... One girl asked me.... So when I. Want to mecca if marry will you not perform it then how can I be with as a family.... I said I will join as a trip you can perform it... She said you live with your nonsense.. For me my life is important.... Everyone is worried about their current life and the consequences that they have to go through by deviating from the mainstream.... Even sects such as thouwhid and shia has a big group and people keep on moving to such.. But QURAN only is far from their reality... Unless there is Big community.... That's the truth in my country brother..... But for me life after is important so if God will I will find my believing partner... But I don't exactly looking someone like me but at least someone who truly believe in God... That's more than enough....
Note I specially link to them first the hadith topic in your mypercept....
FYI... You only dragged me to this forum... I emailed you well back in 2017 end or early 2018 talking to you about the night and day where I was arguing night is not at sunset.. Then you told me come there is a forum and introduced me... So I registered... Thank you... It is a good site for free minds fir sure and not for restrained hearts...
BTW you didn't say anything about AMAH

                              Salamun alaykum

How long have we been seeing this particular topic discussed and debated and still no light at the end of the proverbial tunnel ? There have been so many theories , conjectures and speculations about these supposedly holy places . If the subject matter in question wasn't so serious , I would have found it so funny and even ridiculous .

My own thought in respect of this often controversial topic is .......that as long as we continue to convince ourselves that "al Masjid al Haram and al Masjid al Aqsa" are two physical Mosques , our attempts at grasping the Truth will be futile . Can we let go of all our pre-conceived ideas about Islam and start from what we know about the Qur'an now ? How about starting with Ayman's translation of "al Masjid al Haram" as The Inviolable institution of Obedience or simply The Law ( my preference ) ? After all this al Masjid al Haram was so obvious , that any believers at the time of the messenger would have recognised it as they would their own children . ( Qur'an 2144 ) . As for Al Masjid al Aqsa , or the farthest or is it the highest place of sujud ? I thought that this meaning presents no problem in reaching a clear conclusion as to the real meaning .

We as human being all have to go through a learning process, from basic knowledge of the world around us as well acquiring knowledge of the creator god , and Ahmad / Muhammad no exception to this rule in order to progress to a higher understanding , 937 , 961-5 . The messenger was searching for the Truth even before his appointment as prophet and messenger , and there are many anecdotal and hearsay evidence for this , regardless of the nature of these evidences , the sheer volume of it cannot be ignored . Further clarifying evidence to the need of the messenger to go through the learning process as a normal human can be seen at 18110 and 650 . Only had the messenger undergone all the "Learning Process" as a normal man did he progress to a higher understanding of Truth through the guidance of The God by reading and studying The Qur'an that was revealed to him by The all Knowing as evidenced by 2945 , 2121 and 1736 .

So , my personal understanding of The Journey from Al Masjid al Haram to The Furthest Masjid is that of a Spiritual and intellectual Journey rather than a physical one . From the the basic knowledge and observance of the law to the highest possible human potential e.g. Self Actualization and Self Transcendence as Abraham Maslow would describe it . My view on Hajj is very similar to this view of the two so called Holy Masjid , that is I believe that Hajj is a Pilgrimage within our understanding from the Base to the Ultimate in human enlightenment . And we as believers should try to emulate The Role Models recommended to us by The Merciful God .

Peace and may The God guide us to all truth

Correction to the verse 2144 in the second paragraph above should have been 2144-146 .

                                peace all,

                                jkhan,
I think that mypercept hadith article is too much to handle for some. If I were you, I'd begin more gently as mentioned previously. You reminded me of this post.*
I never responded to your view on AMAH because it doesn't tell me anything. For example, I specifically wrote my AMAH article in a way so people could test their own view of AMAH (whatever that is) by running it through the issues I discuss. A much better response to my article would be to say what your view is and this is how you resolve the issues of XYZ. Same goes for almarh0m.

Simply saying what you think AMAH is tells me/us very little. I want to know how it performs under Quran testing.

                                TellMeTheTruth,
I cover those verses in the previous parts, its a 3 part article (I even mention this in the article with links!)

                                quote
*I understand and relate to the gist of what you're saying. The only thing I would add is it is important to appreciate and distinguish between specific beliefs and mindset.

For example, I was a Traditional Sunni Muslim, like many here, and whilst I held specific beliefs related to that, my mindset was different in that I was more open, rational, reflective, actively seeking knowledge/truth/verification, trying to improve/grow etc. So, it is possible you will meet a girl and her current views you disagree with but her mindset/thinking may be like yours. In other words, sometimes the direction one is heading in is more important than where they specifically are at this moment in time.

All information is correct to the best of my knowledge only and thus should not be taken as a fact. One should always seek knowledge and verify for themselves when possible: 17:36, 20:114, 35:28, 49:6, 58:11.

If you look at the date on my above post, you will see that I wrote that well over 2 years before you wrote your article, so I couldn't have read your article on the same subject then...only copy and paste it for Bro JKhan as he asked me to elaborate on it.

So turn thy face away the sacred mosque, and ye (O Muslims), wheresoever ye may be, turn your faces away (from) it. Lo! Those who have received the Scripture know that (this revelation) is the Truth from their Lord. And Allah is not unaware of what they do.

002177 It is not righteousness that ye turn your faces to the East and the West; but righteous is he who believeth in Allah and the Last Day and the angels and the Scripture and the prophets; and giveth wealth, for love of Him, to kinsfolk and to orphans and the needy and the wayfarer and to those who ask, and to set slaves free; and keep his affairs straight/keep up his promises and payeth the poor-due. And those who keep their treaty when they make one, and the patient in tribulation and adversity and time of stress. Such are they who are sincere. Such are the Allah-fearing.

You say that Masid Al-Aqsa was not then built at that tiime, then how the People of the Book/previous scripture knew that it was a truth? They certainly faced no mosque at all. Al-Masjid Al-Aqsa could have meant The Highest Place of Respect (i.e., the Arsh of Allah).

It is not righteousness that ye go to houses by the backs thereof (as do the idolaters during Hajj seasons), but the righteous man is he who fears (Allah?s punishment). So go to houses by the gates thereof, and observe your duty to Allah, that ye may be successful.

What is your stance regarding Hajj? And what do you think about Al-Bayt? Since these two terms are used numerously in relation with AMAH, I think you should ponder upon them.

What I understand is that idolators who lived around it, considered AMAH as a sacred place so they did not enter their houses from front doors because they did not like their backs towards it due to respect. Allah has negated their concepts, perhaps.

You see them bowing and paying respect , seeking bounty from Allah and pleasure. Their mark is on their faces from the trace of courtesy. That is their description in the Torah. And their description in the Gospel is as a plant which produces its offshoots and strengthens them so they grow firm and stand upon their stalks, delighting the sowers - so that Allah may enrage by them the disbelievers. Allah has promised those who believe and do righteous deeds among them forgiveness and a great reward.

Some people may definitely get raged after my this post.

But,,, when God delivered the message there could be only one meaning... Suppose for the verse 1701 God would have really meant only one thing with truth... Can our opinion differentiate? No... We can give opinion but truth is one... When God said something with verse 1701 then that's absolute and no other option and we can't change it... So what is the meaning of option less ... That's what we collectively should find out... That's why I didn't even agree to this exemplary knowledgeable person waqas... Coz I see something wrong... When I usually read his articles and compared with Quran doubts not raised and from all angle it seemed perfect.... But while reading this topic (not all what he has written in it) but the meaning given to masjid Al Haram is pretty weird....

Almarhom has given her thoughts... That's also within my early option... But I withdrew from it.... But still Almarhom could be right...
Tellmethetruth also has some valuable comments.... But the point is all have various reasons to say different meaning to a same set of words... As we all know one word can have several meaning but one word cannot have different meaning in one verse at one occasion...
Meaning of masjid in the explanation of waqas is not within my grasp... UNTILL he explains what is the meaning of masjid which appears in the chapter of cave... What did they build...
For me till anyone come up with glaring concrete proof and explanations I will take masjid in entire quran as sanctuary (man made or natural depend on verses)....
If that fits for all occurrences of masjid then for me no issue accepting masjid Al Haram as Restricted sanctuary.... And masjid aqsa the farthest sanctuary..... These are blessed places... 1701 is absolutely musa for me... That's a different topic... But how far this can be truth... But there is only one truth... Let's research it ....
Even I recommend brother waqas once again research... There is always things pop up when put under microscope....

                                          Salam, JKhan and all!

002194 The Sacred month for the sacred month and all sacred things are (under the law of) retaliation; whoever then acts aggressively against you, inflict injury on him according to the injury he has inflicted on you and be careful (of your duty) to Allah and know that Allah is with those who guard (against evil).

See that have two different meanings in one sentence. Lets keep Haram = Haram/prohibited/restricted/forbidden (not sacred) and try to fit it in all ayats. It will fit fine.

May Allah bless us all and guide us!

                                          Dear thanks for your response...
But I guess you are too quick to answer.... You didn't read properly...
Or you didn't get my English...
That's why i said one word cannot have different meaning in one verse in one occasion...
