    Greetings and Peace, all group

So do Christians have nothing to fear by loving God or are they the worst of all creatures? Still confused on this concept.

    Thanks.

That depends on the Christian in question. There are monotheistic Christians who do good works. These will ISA have the same reward as monotheists of any other religion or Deen who do equivalent good works.

968 references ONLY those who reject; not all Christians reject.

ANY monotheist of ANY religion/Deen/system who also does good works will be spared, ISA.

    ALLAH knows best.

    peace

There are tons of sects of Christians now, some believe that Jesus is God in the flesh and they have a set way of telling you the whole trinity/Jesus/God belief that has never made any sense to me. Then there are some believe he was who he was, a prophet sent by God and the 'son' part as in we are all 'children of God' anyway but not in the sense of being children of our parents.

The line is the setting up partners with God, the polytheists among 'Christians' that pray to Jesus or Mary or whatever saint is there for what they're praying about instead of God and those that are going against the teachings of Jesus.

      peace

So fascinating, thank you for your perspectives, this clears up a great deal for me. It makes sense that the monotheistic (or Arian) view of Christ would be acceptable by a most merciful God.

I wonder then, what we make of the many stories of people who prayed to their "saint" as sister Ayisha made reference to. I have family in Italy, who have made several claims that a saint has acted on their behalf, healing them in some way. We see this a lot on the news too.

Do we write them off as false? If so, how can we be certain that our (divine) experiences are true, when so many people have them across all faiths? I don't want to get off topic, if I need to I can start a new topic for that question )

        peace

Do we write them off as false?

Everything good that people are given ultimately come from God, by His will.
God informs us that He gives freely to believers and rejectors both in this worldly life. Those who are ungrateful (for example those who falsely uphold it was someone other than the Creator who helped them out) will realize their mistake when judgement day comes around, at the very latest. So no, we do not necessarily need to write of all reports of miraculous help from on high, we just need to keep in mind Who has all the power and might, and also remember that many people speak of things without knowledge.

Example the sentence "I prayed to saint so-and-so, who helped me out" should be understood as "I prayed to something other than God, but God helped me anyways".

At first it looks like a blatant contradiction, though I know there must be answer for this. That's why I ask you guys )

                569

Those who believe (in the Qur'an), those who follow the Jewish (scriptures), and the Sabians and the Christians,- any who believe in Allah and the Last Day, and work righteousness,- on them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve.

                968

Those who reject (Truth), among the People of the Book and among the Polytheists, will be in Hell-Fire, to dwell therein (for aye). They are the worst of creatures.

Who are these referring to? Are Christians and Jews going to be spared?

                Thanks! peace

                Salaam Zhang,

If you understand whom Allah is referring to in 569, it will make easy for you to understand this subject, inshaAllah.

                569
569 Indeed, those who have believed and those who were Haadu and Sabeans and alNasaaraa ? those who believed in Allah and the Last Day and did righteousness ? no fear will there be concerning them, nor will they grieve.

Please note the words in Arabic text. As per my understanding is not equals to . As per my knowledge is always used with prefix "al" or and is always without prefix "al". . I don't know who are , but and is clearly defined in 930

                930
930 AlYahoodu say, "3uzair is son of Allah "; and the alNasaaraa say, "The Maseeh is son of Allah." That is their statement from their mouths; they imitate the saying of those who disbelieved. May Allah destroy them; how are they deluded?

So, alYahoodu is always referring in alQuraan to those who say 3uzair is son of Allah and alNasaaraa is always refers in alQuraan to those who say alMaseeh is son of Allah.

Hope this may help you inshaAllah.

May Allah increase us in knowledge and guide us to His only path pr

Thanks so much mmKhan, I was hoping someone would bring in the Arabic and juxtapose it with similar verses. And, mash'Allah, you did

So it would seem that you are drawing a conclusion similar to the ones above, in that, those who put up partners with God are the worst of creatures and they will have to answer for it on judgement day, whilst those who view Jesus as merely a prophet will have nothing to fear on judgement day. Do you agree?

                  Fascinating.

If I could pose a follow up question now There are billions of people who DO think that Jesus is God. I wonder what will happen to them? Does this maybe hint at this concept?

when Allah said, "O Jesus, indeed I will take you and raise you to Myself and purify you from those who disbelieve and make those who follow you superior to those who disbelieve until the Day of Resurrection. Then to Me is your return, and I will judge between you concerning that in which you used to differ.

Any context information on this Surah would be appreciated too. Many thanks!

May Allah (swt) reward you for your efforts. peace

Notice the Quran uses the term "min or minhum" meaning among or among them when it talks about the disbelievers from the Jews or Christians. There are believers and non believers in any of the Abrahamic traditions. While pagans are non believers by definition. Sunnis and Shias look at the verses that talks about the disbelievers among the Jews and Christians while ignoring the verses about the believers among them.

Say, "I seek refuge in Allah"

why do you think (care) about others?

In the name of God, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
                      Say, "O you disbelievers.
"I do not worship what you worship.
"Nor do you worship what I worship.
"Nor will I ever worship what you worship.
"Nor will you ever worship what I worship.
"To you is your religion, and to me is my religion."

each one is accountable to redeem his own soul, and responsible for his own self!

Don't you people read the Qur'an? God is teaching and explaining it! Or you think that you can be partners with Him and help Him elucidate the ayats? rotfl

Always ask only God to help you understand His Words!

GOD points out the paths, including the wrong ones. If He willed, He could have guided all of you.
