    Peace brother Burhan,

Why do we have to witness the moon (full or cresent) with our shock eyes. I witness the one God and many other things through reason and calculation.

So once I have seen and known the position of the moon through trial and error I know exactly where it's going to be in the future. It's not like you are predicting rain.

Even calculations require INPUT so that they give you a meaningful output. Hence, you still have to decide whether "shahr" means "full-moon" or means "new crescent moon" and do your calculations accordingly. There is no way around that decision.

I posted the complete article on this thread

    http//www.free-minds.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2757&sid=a4e1f7e860b3909cb57cf974fb697d13

    Hopefully this will help.

    Peace,

    Ayman

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all those who participated on this thread for helping me and everybody else improve our understanding. Although the discussion got too heated sometimes, the criticism I got was very helpful.

        Peace,

Just a thought that came to mind. In the verse it says Faman shahad menkom al-shahr ..... does that mean some will not witness that month only because of death, or is it possible as well not to witness the month for other reasons?
