Kneeling, prostrating, and standing
-
Salaam everyone,
I was reading over a few ayats in the Qur'an that mention the positions for salaat.
343 states ?O Mary, be dutiful to your Lord and prostrate and kneel with
those who kneel.?And then 2125
And We have made the Sanctuary to be a model for the people
and a security. And you shall take, from the station of Abraham, a
place for making the contact. And We entrusted to Abraham and
Ishmael ?You shall purify My Sanctuary for those who visit, and
those who are devoted, and the kneeling, the prostrating.?243 And hold the contact prayer, and contribute towards purification,
and kneel with those who kneel.2226 And We have appointed to Abraham the location of the Sanctuary
?Do not set up anyone with Me, and purify My Sanctuary for
those who visit, and those who are standing, and the kneeling, the
prostrating.?Of course, there are many more...I couldn't possibly list them all here. But it seems to me that there is no specific direction that tells us we have to kneel, prostrate, and stand during salaat. Is it possible that we can choose to either kneel, prostrate, or stand during salaat and not necessarily have to do all three positions?
I hope I made sense in my post.

Peace sister,
Maybe this article will be helpful although it's a bit lengthy.

w/salaam,
None of those verses actually say or imply certain positions in salat. Note how you are picking certain things from the verse and saying THAT is part of salat, even though the verse mentions other things which you do not take as part of salat. Ask yourself, how are you determining what is and is not part of salat? Then you will realise all you are going on is pre-conceived beliefs.
In any case, if you wish to make such an argument, then the best verse to make a case for this would be 4102 however if one does, one will have to answer some problematic issues

http//mypercept.co.uk/articles/meaning-of-SuJuD-from-Quran.htmlI didn't imply anything, Wakas. Notice I asked a question..."Is it possible?"
It's either a yes or no response.
