Yes true, another wonderful verse and the better translation which i found is the following

          Peace, FearGod.

I'm not understanding the basis of this post. If anything, based on your translation, it shows that the Qur'aan can be inaccurate, as this is a clear astronomical blunder. The passage says the following

Allah the night and the day... (Q. 2444)

This form of the word (e.g. "qallaba&quot can have various meanings - such as to turn over, to alternate, or to change. It doesn't specifically mean to 'rotate', or to 'turn upside down', as you attempted to imply in your post. However, if we take your translation as being accurate, then this presents a problem. For starters, it doesn't say anything about the Earth; it says that "the night and the day" are the things turning or changing. If we take this to refer to a rotational concept, then we're forced to interpret it as saying that the night and the day 'turn upside down', or that the night and the day are 'rotating' around the planet. As we know, that's ridiculous.

Your interpretation of this passage seems to imply geocentricism - that the Earth is situated or stabilized, and the night and day (e.g. by way of the Sun's progression) are moving around it. Again, that concept is astronomically unsound, as the passage implies that the night and the day - not the Earth - are 'flipping over', or rotating. That's not a "phenomenon", that's a false claim.

          Peace,

          Ahmad

            Salam Ahmad,

i have already shown all the meanings for Yaqulip (&#1576 and which means to rotate something upside down.

God when mentions (Day) he means the lands that shows the Day and when mentioning the night then he means the lands which shows the night and you can realize that by understanding all other verses which show clearly that god is pointing to the lands which have night or day.

The position of the day is fixed (sun rays) but the lands of Day moves to night position and then the lands of night moves to the Day position.

Examine all other verses which i have already illustrated which gives the same wonderful meanings.

            Peace

              You said

As I mentioned previously, this is false, and you didn't even use the correct term this time. The word used is derived from the word "qallaba", which can have several meanings, one of which is to turn something upside down. Other meanings include alternating something, turning something, or changing something. It does NOT specifically mean to turn something upside down; this is merely your interpretation of the passage, seemingly based on the context. From my perspective, it appears that you're trying to force the Qur'aan to fit in with modern science; in reality, you're causing the opposite effect.

Again, this proposes a clear astronomical blunder. The time distinctions between "day" and "night" aren't based on the land; they're based on the Sun's relation to the Earth. In other words, the Sun is what causes the distinction (separation) between day and night, which is due to the planet's revolution around the Sun. The Qur'aan, on the other hand, specifically says that the night and the day are revolving ('turning upside down'?) around the planet Earth. This is completely ridiculous, and it doesn't agree with modern science at all. In addition, your proposal is irrational, since Muhammad (and hence the Qur'aan) wouldn't know what the other side of the planet looked like - the book is written from the perceptive position of the Middle East.

From a basic position, it looks like the Qur'aan is saying that Allah (God) "alternates" the day and the night, which would make a lot more sense, especially when viewed from the common position of what we generally observe. Stating that God flips the night and the day 'upside down' is ridiculous, and it is, if nothing else, evidence that the Qur'aan is capable of gross scientific inaccuracies.

              Peace,

              Ahmad

From all my explanations with more than one verse which describes day and night which matching the view of modern science
and you are still insist to not understand even though it is very easy to be understood.

You are saying that there are more than one meaning to than just upside down but i have shown how god
causes rolling of day and night and how night enter to the day (do you think the darkness moves if not the land),just use a little
of wisdom and it'll be easy for you to understand,if i assumed you want really to understand.

He hath created the heavens and the earth with truth. He rolleth the night around the day, and rolleth the day around the night, and He hath subjected the sun and the moon each running on for a term appointed! Lo! He is the Mighty, the Forgiver. (395)

Do you think the night will move and roll (how darkness moves if not land)

Thou makest the night to enter into the day and Thou makest the day to enter into the night, Thou bringest forth the living from the dead and Thou bringest forth the dead from the living, and Thou providest whomsoever Thou wilt without reckoning. (327)

Again you can see that the verse is saying that night enter to the day which means both do exist at the same moment and one
moves to the other,do you thing darkness can move.

Please don't always repeat yourself ,you are absolutely wrong and you don't understand what you are even talking about.

Again, this is an example of you attempting to force the Qur'aan to agree with modern science. I'm not talking about your personal interpretation, nor am I talking about the logical stance on the issue (which is due to our established viewpoints, due to science). I'm solely talking about what the passage states. The Qur'aan doesn't say that it's talking about the Earth; this is merely your interpretation, due to your emphatic resolution to make the Qur'aan correct. Again, in this case, it isn't.

You can even look at the other passage you posted concerning this, and it illustrates the same concept - geocentricism. What do you think it means when the Qur'aan says that God has "appointed the sun and the moon, each running on for a term appointed"? Based on other passages in the Qur'aan, it implies, as do those, that the sun is orbiting around the Earth; and again, this view is incorrect. You can form an interpretation of what you think it's saying, but the words are very explicit.

The other passage you posted, concerning the night rolling into the day, is not a "miraculous" phenomenon; this is merely a sight-based depiction. Anybody can look up in the sky during the evening and see this same thing. I'm not saying that the book doesn't provide a semi-accurate depiction of this, especially based on visual sightings. However, it's foolish to cite this as an example of something Muhammad couldn't have known (and therefore must've been told to him by God), since this is something he probably saw everyday! And no, I'm not inferring the concept of the darkness moving; the Qur'aan is saying this, though - just like it claims that mountains speak, the Earth and sky (???) 'chose' to "willingly" come together, Moses threw a stick on the ground and it turned into a serpent, etc. We both know that these types of things don't happen either. Your bias is evident.

I have a very good idea of what I'm talking about... When's the last time you studied astronomy?

                  Peace,

                  Ahmad

Regarding the verse about that the sun is running which you found it to be wrong and which i can see that you are very weak and ignorant in astronomy.

What was the point of that video? I never said the sun isn't moving; I said it's not orbiting around the Earth. If the concepts of the sun and moon being in motion were divided according to the factors, then there wouldn't be an issue. However, since the Qur'aan says that 'the sun and the moon are running for a term appointed', it implies that they're accomplishing a similar function, even traveling in a similar fashion and direction. Again, they're not... But, if you want to say that I'm 'ignorant in astronomy' (LOL), then believe what you want.

Did the quran say the sun is orbiting around the earth ?

'the sun and the moon are running for a term appointed'

Did you understand from this verse that the sun is orbiting earth ?

i don't know even what is your point from presenting this verse, yes god have a purpose from the sun
for the day and it run for a term appointed and similarly the moon is running in its
orbit to reflect the sun's light and running for a term appointed.

where did it say that one is orbiting around the other ?

You are just distorting the meaning to give us an imagination as if it says that the sun is orbiting
the earth,so that is only your conclusion which i heard a lot from the atheists, ring a bell.

I have maintained that it is a waste of time as well as energy to research that Quran is a Scientific Miracle at least from the Astrnomical Point of View. The verses of Quran are beautifully arranged rhetoric, well written (revealed) classical literature,

It's pure illusion to extract modern science out of the Quranic Verses and say that it is Comnpatible with Science. IT IS NOT AN ENCYCLOPEDIA...

                          Eg.

People Claim that Quran says that Universe is Expanding
Well exactly speaking. Quran says We expand it STEADILY, but recent researches show that Universe is expanding at an ACCELERATING RATE.....

                            Salam,

Did i mention scientific miracles ?

God described the Day and night in beautiful way and the relation between day, night ,sun & moon.

So There is no scientific miracles but those are just signs from God for the wise to believe.

We shall show them Our signs in the horizons and in themselves, till it is clear to them that it is the truth. Suffices it not as to thy Lord, that He is witness over everything? (4153)

I completely agree with this position. Personally, I enjoy reading the Qur'aan, as it's a beautiful literary work, composed of astounding rhetoric. However, to attempt to correlate it with modern science is foolish at best. It's not a scientific textbook, nor was it ever intended to be. It was written from the perspective of the 7th century Arabs, and it's pointless for us to attempt to reconcile it with modern discoveries of the 21st century, as if every imaginable detail of scientific inquiry and exploration are contained within the Qur'aan - although they're coincidentally hidden beneath parables, contextual wording, mathematical miracles, etc...

a beautiful literary work ???,why not saying somehow similar to enjoying reading
                                  the literary work of Shakespeare.

Let me teach you to realize the beauty of such literary work of the quran when combined with knowledge and not with ignorance assuming that you know arabic language.

                                  (2444)

First Allah didn't say but he says which means change positions upside down, that is one beauty which shows us perfection in describing day and night phenomenon.

Also Allah didn't say which in english change the night to day like a layman may say,but he said which in english means that he change both at one time with opposite positions.

That is the beauty of literature in Quran combined with the creator knowledge of his universe.

if you need more lessons, then pls don't be ashame,i'll be more than happy to teach you.

By the way i have challenged many atheists to bring a better verse than this one from their own minds
in other forums and they didn't bring any one sentence and it ended with their anger with some insults and
then deleting the thread by mods.

Praise to god that we have such forum and i also offer the verse for every one here to try to challenge it by bringing a better description of day and night phenomenon and as short in words to give such perfect meaning.

"One word is enough for the wise"

AS WELL AS FOR the peoples of latter days whose scientific knowledge has hugely increased, tho science never does, and never will comprehend all of Allah's Wisdom. That is perhaps what you are referring to in your last sentence. Do i have that right?

Of course, I'm sure that's the commonly accepted viewpoint concerning this issue. However, I didn't want to refer to it this way, as it's a subjective position not everyone agrees that the Qur'aan was written by ALLAH (God). My post was meant with that idea in mind... Also, with regard to people comprehending the wisdom of ALLAH, we have to keep in mind that not everyone believes in the concept of deity and divinity. Therefore, to some people, they have already exceeded the wisdom of ALLAH - at least as far as the Qur'aan is concerned. I'm not saying that I necessarily agree with this position, but it certainly exists...

In addition, we can reasonably conclude that the Qur'aan was written FROM the perspective of the 7th century Arabs due to it being written (or, at least compiled) by 7th century Arabs. It was written in their language, citing features and examples prevalent in their culture, and composed of passages that they'd understand. We can't reasonably conclude that it was written for all of humanity, as (obviously) all of humanity can't read, write or understand Arabic language and culture. So, we can objectively state that it was most likely written FOR them, if not BY them.

                                          Do you disagree?

                                          Peace,

                                          Ahmad
