Is not believing in God, doing good, avoiding bad, enough???
-
I have been reading several posts in this Forum for months now. I have seen discussions about Salat, about the existence of the prophet, about the origins of Quran etc . . and non have been really conclusive.
I believe in God and I believe in Quran as the word of God. I try to do good and avoid bad things. I think the Quran clearly explains this much for any individual to understand. When it comes to minor things, there are lots of debates etc. And we can never come to an agreement in most cases.
I think God wants us to believe in Him and do good and avoid the bad. It maybe general but its very simple. We might do some minor things which are not the best according to someone else's understanding. He maybe right and you may be wrong. We can only hope and pray that GOD forgive those actions.
I think its the best conclusion I can come to at the moment. Just want to share it with everyone.

Peace ahmed
Thanks for sharing your opinion with us. You are right about what you just said. We certainly do not seem to have reached any clear consensus as Quranist community, but I have my doubt such will come easily. Unfortunately I think it will eventually break into more sects. But the righteous will always persevere.
May God shower you with blessings

Peace ahmed maldives.
Welcome to the forum.
I agree with you. Why complicate things. God made the deen easy.
Just be God concious, try and be honest/fair with everyone and do your best.
God bless you.
Peace.

Seek and serve truth alone and all other things will arise naturally.
Does it get any simpler than that?
It's a simple logical process that can be applied to everything in life.
"Is it good to do X" => Look up facts => X = good? Do it. X= bad? Don't do it.How hard is that? It only becomes difficult when people chuck in things like "My uncle told me you gotta bow up and down and spin around while facing 3 degrees off the rim of the sun and chant or you will not be saved". Or my favourite "in hadeeth, we are told to do , it is obligatory on every muslim to do . Now show me from quran how many times a day I have to do ? Oh, you can't do it? Kafir!"

To say I only follow this, and I reject that, is it enought for one's own self & own family, for the whole community, for the whole nation or for the whole of humanity+?peace

You don't want to be sure? You "only hope" you are right? What if not? How do you see your existence after your death? Is it commensurate with your behaviour and actions on Earth - or is merely believing enough? What is your opinion?

What i meant is there's no way to be 100% sure of some things, and we just follow it according to our understanding - which might be wrong. If two people have two different understanding of the same thing, then one of them is wrong. We just hope we have the right understanding.

What is sure and right is with Allah and it is for Him to judge. What we do while living this life is this whatever you do you shall consult among yourself and then once you decide on the line your action, put your trust wholesomely on Allah. Allah loves those who put their trust on Him and Him alone - Al Imran, Recitation 159.

Here we go again! StopS delliberately sneaks back in time to engage you all in vain talk and you fall in his trap again ;D

Thanks for the clarification.
You raised an interesting point in your original post
"I believe in God and I believe in Quran as the word of God. I try to do good and avoid bad things. I think the Quran clearly explains this much for any individual to understand."I personally have a huge problem finding anything that is clear in the Koran regarding our lives. In one sentence it says anything can be forgiven, then it says something is excluded, then another thing is always forbidden, so I can never be sure. That's why I asked what you think about the way you live and what happens to you later, to take a practical approach and believe when it says that judgement will be merciful.

Except if a monarch tells me I will be judged in 10 years and then I get executed because I built my house not with a sloped roof but a flat one, I will be pretty cheesed off. So telling me I can do what I want and then torturing me if I do exactly that is hardly fair and adequate.

Peace G. Omar
Please mind your language, this is a religion of Peace.

Peace,
Yes, but He also tell us to be patient and refrain from bad language unless we are exposed to gross injustice.
Stops sure can be provocating and come about frank about his obvious atheist mind, but meet this with rage will not change him.
He must be in some ways be curious and uncertain about his stance as atheist, or why else is he here? Some people are not outright blessed with certainty.
Unless he sees the mocking of believers as mere amusement. What is your say in this yourself, Stops?
So G. Omar, God bless you and I hope you see my peaceful intent. Of course we can tell Satan 'Begone!'.
May God calm us down

salaam Brother
I see his aim being to divert believers from the right path, if he can, and I will not be complacent about such evil. Being nice and well behaved, no matter what, is not what being a good Muslim means to me, fighting against evil and for the right, is.So G. Omar, God bless you and I hope you see my peaceful intent. Of course we can tell Satan 'Begone!'.
I do see your peaceful intent but what I was doing was in fact to 'tell Satan 'Begone!' Only in Latin ;D

Peace G. Omar,
Well, it reminds me of Moses travel companion who told him 'did I not tell you that you could not have any patience with me' after some seemingly evil acts, but which were all to prevent corruption. I.e. killing the son which it was revealed that he was unrighteous and he wanted to spare the shame on his parents.
It was a lesson to Moses and could probably be one for us too.
May God bless you

Do you equate Allah to the 'monarch'?
