Salaam. My name is Aamer. I was born in India, raised in the United States. My family come from an obscure Sufi sect who believe that the Mahdi came some 500 years ago. I left my birth sect around the age of 19 & became Sunni. When I say I became sunni, I mean.. I became a hardcore Sunni. Yep.. Tablieghi Jamaat. Door knocking, talking down to people, following Sunnah in crazy doses. That phase lasted a few years before I started seeing the faults in their logic. I started realizing that Hadith is an innovation through nothing other than reasoning. Why did this guy Bukhari have to come along 300 years later and complete the religion? As I kept questioning mosque leaders, it wasn't long before I was branded as an apostate. So I left. For 16 years (I'm 39 now) I was on an island until recently. The past few months I have been hungry for knowledge again, mostly to teach my children. Along the way I've learned about the code of 19 & met some amazing people in the Submitters community. I still have plenty of questions and I don't follow any source outside of Quran. But it's great to be around people who don't ruin sermons by throwing out absurd Hadith and focus instead on Quran.

Peace,
The Sunni faith seems so aggressive and unfriendly to me. What benefits do you get from it?
Anyway, welcome to the forum. I am glad you found, God willing, the right path. Hope you enjoy it here.
Ay God willing bless you

Well it's really cool because you get to grow a beard and look down on others and accuse them of being worse muslims than you because they don't use their right feet to enter rooms. I'm kidding!! It's crap! Thank God I'm here where people actually use their intellect.

Welcome brother
I recommend you to take only God as guidance, He is the only and the best teacher. He answers to those who ask.
Just try to become One in peace/submitted one (muslim) with no labels attached and a true believer (mumin).
Be careful with the nineteeneers, and the coranist, some have pretty wild ideas too.

Peace wrkmmn.
That was good advice.
I agree, we should not trust anyone ,including those who ask us to be careful.
We should only trust in God.
Peace.
