    Salaam,

Please check out these three verses 337-39

    Sahih Int. translation

37 - So her Lord accepted her with good acceptance and caused her to grow in a good manner and put her in the care of Zechariah. Every time Zechariah entered upon her in the prayer chamber, he found with her provision. He said, "O Mary, from where is this to you?" She said, "It is from Allah . Indeed, Allah provides for whom He wills without account."

38 - At that, Zechariah called (hunlika da zakariyy&#257 upon his Lord, saying, "My Lord, grant me from Yourself a good offspring. Indeed, You are the Hearer of supplication (innaka samu l-dui)."

39 - So the angels called him while he was standing in prayer (wahuwa qimun yuall&#299 in the chamber, "Indeed, Allah gives you good tidings of John, confirming a word from Allah and honorable, abstaining , and a prophet from among the righteous."

Does this not clearly show that calling upon God, Dua = Salat? Or, at least, that these two arabic terms are VERY closely related?

    Peace.

      Salam mohf

what is my conclusion, that the Dua can be a part from the Salat- the Salat is mentioned two times daily and linked with

      1. zikr Allah 2. reading /ponder over the Quran

So after all the discussion about Salat i think the traditionell SALAT is not sooooooooooo wrong, if we imagine how the prophet propably hold it-
a public session two times on day with recitation from the Quran and explanations- and a common prayer with DUA and SABIH .

For me it's quite possible, that the people after the ministry of the prophet introduced the five daily prayers - even God mention two SALAT and to remember him special times...

the two words are linked but not the same - a SALAT don't must contains Dua but can.
this is only my personal opinion. See other views
      Salam and peace
