The importance of knowledge in the Quran
-
Peace all brothers and sisters
From my study of the Quran, I have understood that knowledge is highly important. But why is knowledge important? Let's see what the Quranic verses tell us about knowledge.
2943
Such are the examples We cite for the people, but none reason except the knowledgeable. In verse 2943 in the Quran it says that no one use their reason except the knowledgeable. This means that a man/woman who is knowledgeable will also be reasonable. And it also means that those who lack knowledge will not have the ability to use their reason.
A reasonable man/woman will possess the ability to think for himself or herself (which is highly important if he/she wants to succeed in life and realize his/her potentials). The difference between a human being and an animal is that the human being has free will and can therefore make his/her own decisions. But to make the best decisions he/she must use his/her reason.
4162
But those of them who are firm in knowledge, as well as the believers, they believe in what was sent down to you and what was sent down before you; and those who uphold the communion, and those who contribute towards betterment, and those who believe in God and the Last Day; to these We will give them their reward greatly.Once again the Quran is emphasizing the importance of knowledge, as we can clearly see when we read verse 4162 in the Quran. The Quran even tells us that those who are firm in knowledge will be rewarded. It seems that the rewards of the knowledgeable will be given to them both in this life and in the afterlife.
3528
And from the people, and the animals, and the livestock, are various colors. As such, only the knowledgeable among God's servants reverence Him. God is Noble, Forgiving. In verse 3528, the Quran tells us that only the knowledgeable among the servants of God, will reverence him.
There are also some verses in the Quran that tells us that the messengers of God had knowledge. For example Solomon, Moses and Joseph had deep knowledge.
What are your thoughts about the importance of knowledge in the Quran?
It would be interesting to hear your thoughts..
