learning the tuth after all these years

i want to introduce myself...i am shamim a female currently living in the USA in Connecticut i found out about this website after i just had my baby in January and i was asking a friend of mine who studied 'shariah' in Saudi when i would resume my prayers seeing in traditional Islam i couldn't even breath next to the Qur'an in such an abominable state and i felt helpless cause i needed to talk to God but couldn't ...mmm...anyway i am glad he didn't bother replying my texts and all cause i turned to uncle Google and there i found A. Mohammeds website which i read and being i was feeling let down i immediately embraced the truth and threw out all i knew...cleaned up my mind and started afresh...book marked the website and read all the pages on it sometimes reading till almost 3 am..then going to you tube to learn how to read arabic....my knowledge thirst became insatiable and again thanks to uncle Google i looked more about the true Islam...after jumping hops and toots over a couple more websites i finally found this one i have read so many pages on the discussions and came from learning something to being more confused to finding my self to hanging on some issues etc so i decided to officially join the forum and really be part of the community. i admit i am not perfect but with support i can become a true believer as Allah says in the quran inshallah....my biggest problem now is which quran has the best translation that monotheists can use cause now i cant interpret the Arabic i understand it through reading the english version...i have the Yusuf Ali and too scared to open it now seeing it may have so many misinterpretations...ok this is long but any help will be appreciated and for now peace be upon u all and May Allah strengthen us in seeking knowledge and spreading the true Islam

About which translation to take, I think you can take any as starting point.
But I would suggest to take one which is bracket free, text in brackets in Quran translations are >D
Very nice that you learned (or are learning) how to read arabic.
That will make it inshaAllah in the long term very easy for you.
After a while you will see inshaAllah that you don't need any translation or grammar book.
Allah will (if He wants) show you the best meaning of the words.Salaam,

Welcome to the forum and congratulations on your baby, it must feel wonderful.
Such a shame you thought you could not talk to God because of inability to do a physical prayer, but you should know that God hears all those who call upon Him, no matter what.
You can just cry unto the Lord and He will hear your prayer, needs no formal prayer. Perhaps your discipline, as well as other righteous deeds, brought you here as a blessing though.
Abdullah Yusuf Ali is still not that bad a translation regarding distortion, it was the first translation I encountered, it is just that the English in it is not easy to read. Try to look after a translation by a true monotheist.
I still use Dr. Rashad Khalifa's translation, despite some weaknesses and though it is too much irrelevant footnotes in it. The language in it is simple since he paraphrased most things in good ways, but of course it can be a disadvantage too. Since Dr. Khalifa was a bit obsessed with some things he unfortunately twisted the words in it, so you may still need more translations, but for starter it is just fine.
Most of the time he translated the Arabic in better ways than many other translators, in my opinion. There are sometimes better translations, but they use a more academic language and thus more dull to read.
Most important now is to interpret the Quran with your newly opened eyes. Forget all about Mullahs, hadith and just focus whole-heartedly on the Quran, and you will find the Truth more beautiful and peaceful than those "scholars" make it.
Remember God is the Guide and Teacher, we can only be inspirational sources as role models and our words of the Message.
I am glad you discovered the Truth and once again welcome to this forum.
Just a teaser about Islam Think about when you greet someone in Islam, why you say Salaam (Peace) or why the definition of the religion and practitioners are derived from the same root (Islam and Muslim from S L M).
Well, the answer is quite simple, the logical answer is because it is a religion of peace. Quite a different religion from traditional Islam.

It's fine to be hanging while you're searching. I would say that reading the Yusuf Ali translation is fine although I can understand how you might be against it due to some translations. For my own pov its nice to read that translation and if you like you could skip his notes/commentary, but it's not necessarily a bad thing to read those. They could help. Wakas has an excellent set of <a href="http//www.studyquran.org/">tools</a> to help you with the arabic of the quran.

I think most translations are fine to read as long as one does so in conjunction with study tools.
Personally, I prefer Muhammad Asad's translation, but I usually read online using www.quranix.net which has a few to compare with.

Hold fast to what God has sent down to us. Don't worry if you don't understand it all, no translation is perfect, the Qur'an says ""The ones who listen to what is being said, and then follow the best of it. These are the ones whom God has guided, and these are the ones who possess intelligence." (Quran 391 I believe you don't have to follow any translation blindly word by word, just follow the best to your understanding. I believe that if one reads the books of God every day, and always meditates about his words, and constantly prays to God for the truth, at the end the most Merciful will show us the truth and give us the wisdom. Remember, there are many verses in the Qur?n that God says that only Him knows their true meaning. Keep asking to the most Merciful for the truth (4060) But your Sustainer says "Call unto Me, [and) I shall respond to you! Verily, they who are too proud to worship Me will enter hell, abased!"
even if we were full of disease and unable to move on our beds, if we sincerely cry to our lord, The most Merciful will listen to us. Only the unbelievers and those hypocrites who twist the words of the Holy book are unclean.
I have read many translations, but I personally like Mohamed Assad's, because it uses a very reasonable approach, and if he changes something, in his footnotes he gives the literal translation, and the traditional translation, and words of some of the great thinkers of Islam to back up his translation.

Here is a website with 30 plus translations. If I find something that does not make sense to me, I check another translation. Supposing I am still confused, I post a question on Free Minds Forum.

peace Salam, Shalom, Peace peaceJEWISH I am just learning the basics though I would love to learn classical arabic as I have come to learn on this forum....I have been using quranicarabicwebinars they have a website too and their lessons I find are organised in chronological order so thaey are easy to follow inshallah
