I'm not trying to talk bad about the other people but u need to be around more muslims to give u a pushThis is the problem with muslim community. Not integrating into society, alienating and seeing self as better or non-Muslims as being negative. This is how young impressionable person starts to hate non-Muslims becoming radical. Of course using God is always an effective way to influence and brainwash people.

Even we are told by God not too beguiled to this dunya, it doen't means we live without pleasure and enjoyment, because without it we will became stress.That's why God sent provisions to us (look at 236, 314 etc)
Despite that we cannot too beguiled to this dunya like the kufr does (2212, 3196 etc), because this dunya is just test for us (3185, 477)

I'm not sure about the word integrating because it can mean many different things to different people. There've been debates here in popular media in the West and people ask what type of integration do people want? Some people view it as what they see - such as clothing, going out to similar places such as nightclubs and so on. I think individualism should be strongly encouraged but not in a way that looks down on other people. This goes for all groups, cultures and traditions. Whatever intergration is, diversity should flourish as its at the core of humanity. This diversity is even mentioned in the Quran.
Going to the mosque will not get you closer to Allah in my opinion. Remembering Allah is very simple to do throughout anyone's day and Allah states that this is one of the most important things. If anything, I think the Quran doesn't tell you to be part of a collective in order to be a Muslim and it encourages you to be the individual that God made you as. Often mosques teach more in relation to hadiths, so I don't know how that will get you closer to God, when Allah warns us against other hadith.

Less follower = less power.
More follower = more power.The attitude is commonly found in nearly all 'religious leader' in all religion and all politician in all political party.

Maybe the old sunni treatment was given out of true concern for what he thought was
to a member of the congregation, so don't necessarily take the invitation negatively.
Apparently he was not aware of your change in direction regarding Islam. A gracious
thankyou for your concern or an explanation of your current preference would
either put things off or clear them up, which ever you choose.peace

Remember these people may believe they are guided while they are not. It was probably sincere concern he expressed, from the ignorance of his tainted heart, for you to join up with the community again. Still his intention was heart-warming and should not be looked down upon.
Having a religious community can boost the enthusiasm of its members, so he was sort of right. Only bad they practice the wrong religion.
Socializing with traditional muslims is not wrong, I do that, for they are humans like all of us. They just need help finding the true path, which can be hard. But one will not help by being arrogant towards them.
Isolating ourselves as God alone will not help spreading the true Message either. It is better sacrificing our time trying to help them.

Well, yes, but this is true concerning all people, not just those who call themselves muslims. So I think there should be no difference (neither positive nor negative) in our relations to people of different religion. In all of them, there are good people, there are people who just don't see the truth, and there are those who follow their own ego.

Thanks for adding this fact which I forgot fo mention. Of course it means people of all "religions".
Although, I believe there is only one religion, God's religion, which is to live in islam. It is not the name of a religion but a lifestyle, so righteous people of other religions are muslims too. As long as you struggle to make peace within your soul and your surroundings, you have the muslim way.
God did not ask us to divide ourselves into sects and there is no reason for all these muslim branches. We are all trying to be muslim.
Being a community does not mean you are a sect. Only by differentiating yourselves from other muslims make you a sect. Free minds is a decent example of community in muslim style as people are more or less allowed to differentiate in belief, although we still have some harassment and mockery due to alternative thinking by some brothers and sisters that can be a bit arrogant at times.
Unfortunately, our brothers and sisters in these sects are not so open-minded to accept us to be with them knowing we have a different opinion, because opinions are not always accepted in the sects. But if they accept us despite being "Quran alone" then why should we not spend time with them, perhaps they might change.
Just show them you are peaceful and contented and respectfully tell the Truth when you talk to them. If they get hostile, remain calm and do not use provocative words. Should they start with improper manner and behavior, go away from there with a respectful apology.
Are you determined with your belief and calm and peaceful you have a chance of affecting people.
The bigger God's community gets the bigger influence it will have on those who are part of the wrong-doers. If people see it is socially accepted to be in God's community then more will leave their sects and join God and his islamic ways to reach salvation.
I have noticed that the free minds community has begun to grow more rapidly in recent months and our perseverance acts as a signal to people around. Just being here as an alternative to sects will probably attract people to leave their sects with strange rules and restrictions, and idolatry.
Go out and show the Truth and the Message to people. Go to wherever you are invited and be a brother or sister to them. But if they want you to participate in immoral practices then apology and say you cannot do so. Be a Light and a Beacon and all will be fine.
