    Bismillah,

it is very astonishing Muslims celebrates many things, but they dont celebrate the day when QURAAN started revealing on Prophet saw...

here I proposed an IDEA to start celebrating QURAAN DAY, by spreading message and FREE copies of QURAAN to people around the GLOBE.

    Regards
    Abde Khuda

this is the best dates I am getting

The Qur'anic revelation started one night during the month of Ramadan in 610 AD, when Muhammad, who was forty years old, received the first revelation from the angel Gabriel, who had given him the responsibility for inscribing these messages from God to give to mankind.

yet not able to find date.

What about celebrating every day as Quran day? That way, we won't miss the right day

In traditional islam, it is believed that the day when the first quranic verse was sent down is de lailatul Qadr. (see chapter 97 of the Quran)

Also see the verses about the Sawm/Abstinence which say that the Quran was sent down in the 'shahr' (a month, a full moon, or what ever it means) of 'Ramadan'.

It is believed that this was on the 27th of the month of Ramadan, but there is no certainty; it is believed that it may be any odd day like 23, 25 or 29; or at least, on one of the last 10 days of the month of Ramadan.

As you can see, it is completely unknown and guesswork to search for it. And if you will find it, the traditional muslims already spend that day in prayer and worship.

I believe the 1-5 verses of Surat AlAlaq ( , also known as Surat Iqr &#1575 to be the first revelation to Muhammad (pbuh). It is traditionally believed to have been revealed at cave Hira, mountain of Light, 3 km from Mecca, when Muhammad was nearly 40 years old. According to historical accounts, it was month of Ramadan in the year 610 AD (12 years before Hijra), but the exact day is unknown.

              ALLAH (SWT) knows best.
All praise and blessings are due to HIM.

                  Greetings and Peace, all group

There are many websites that offer free Qur'ans--there is great variation in translation. This list is not at all conclusive; many places offer free Qur'ans.

                  http//www.allahsquran.com/free/
                  http//www.quranproject.org/
                  http//en.islamway.net/SF/quran/ (electronic version, many languages)
                  http//www.islamtomorrow.com/freequran.asp
                  http//convertstoislam.org/Free-Quran.htm
http//quranicaudio.com/ (mp3 format, many recitations to choose from)

                  Incidentally

The copy of AQ that brought me to Islam was sent to a chaplain in Afghanistan for free distribution--there were probably a dozen in the box. It was actually this version

                  http//www.betterworldbooks.com/the-meaning-of-the-holy-qur-an-english-arabic-new-edition-with-arabic-text-and-revised-translation-id-9781590080160.aspx

I had previously read a (poor) translation of AQ and it had no impact on me.

May ALLAH see fit to Guide all seekers

                  peace

                  ~Abdul-Hadi
