14:37 Uncultivated or barren ?

I have found different translation of this verse and found the valley close to restricted temple where Abraham resided part of his progeny as uncultivated or barren or unproductive etc.
What should be the correct one?
Was the land barren so it was uncultivated?
Or the land was not barren(had plants) but was not just cultivated by human for grains ?
Edip-Layth

Muhammad Asad
1437 "O our Sustainer! Behold, I have settled some of my offspring in a valley in which there is no arable land,52 close to Thy sanctified Temple, so that, O our Sustainer, they might devote themselves to prayer cause Thou, therefore, people's hearts to incline towards them53 and grant them fruitful sustenance, so that they might have cause to be grateful.
Yusuf Ali
1437 "O our Lord! I have made some of my offspring to dwell in a valley without cultivation, by Thy Sacred House; in order, O our Lord, that they may establish regular Prayer so fill the hearts of some among men with love towards them, and feed them with fruits so that they may give thanks.
Shakir
1437 O our Lord! surely I have settled a part of my offspring in a valley unproductive of fruit near Thy Sacred House, our Lord! that they may keep up prayer; therefore make the hearts of some people yearn towards them and provide them with fruits; haply they may be grateful
Shabbir Ahmed
1437 "Our Lord! I have settled some of my family in this barren valley without cultivation, by your Sacred House. Our Lord! They are here to establish the Divine System. Give them the nobility of character so that the hearts of people incline toward them. Provide for them with your blessings so that they may focus on their Mission and show gratitude (by sharing the bounties)."
