There is a debate going on in the other section about shahr, but lets see what it can be,is it just a month?Lanes gives example on the possible uses.
Shohera bekazaa = He was rendered ,became, for such a thing.
Shahara saifahu = He drew his sword from the scabbard or he drew his sword and raised it over the people.
Raaito Alshahr = I saw the new moon of the month.
Ashahr Alswabee = The child became a month old or a month passed over the child.Ashaharo =more and most apparent , menifest, notorious.

I looked up the word "shahr" in the dictionary (Lisan Al-3arab) and it doesn't seem to mean "month", "30 consecutive days", or "30 intermittent days". In english the word RIGHT as you now can mean a number of things but obviously the words it apears with in a sentance(or the context) gives the real meaning -what it means with respect to the sentance its being used in.
