      Peace,

I think it is a bit unfair to compare the Arabic word deen with the English religion. Without looking up the etymology of the word religion I take a qualified guess that the word means to describe what someone has put their trust in. Reli in the word is probably from rely. If your religion is God's religion that is what your have put your trust in. If it is Christianity then the teachings of this brand is what you have put your trust in, ie it is your religion.

Deen seems to symbolize more the actual system of a religion rather than faith. Religion could be more synonymous with faith, but somehow the meaning is twisted.

We can of course discuss what is the best translation of deen, for it is definitely not religion. God's system perhaps if your talk about God's deen.

The adjective form of religion, religious, seems to keep more the original meaning of the word as it connotes being faithful and obeying God's law/system. But when it comes down to it, I am sure you can use the word religion almost as deen, the word is just commonly abused for it means like what you have put your trust in. If your religion is islam then this is your system.

Hope I was not too confusing and inaccurate. I was slightly philosophical and I may not be entirely correct.

      God bless you

        Peace all.
        Nice article Mario.

Religion is how humans found/worship something that they considered as God.So how they worship or how they founding their God is by doing something like rituals, laws or another ibadat which if they do or implementing it, they consider it as Worship their God.

ExampleChristians liturgy and Christmas 25 December was sacralized by Christians as their ritual or steps to worship God but it actually not existed in the Bible so religion is manmade innovation.

While deen like term "Islamideena" according to the Quran is system which the God sent to us to follow, the proof is that was written in surat Maidah ayat 3.

Verily, the religion in the sight of God is Islam (submission).
And those who were given the Book did not differ except
after knowledge had come to them out of envy among themselves.

In reality, there is only one religion, the Religion of God (Islam). The remaining hundreds of thousands if not millions (so-called) organized religions are but false roads/pseudo-religions that draw from ancestral cults and man-made ideas that went on at the time. To suit their own desires and hidden agendas, the sons of Adam have repeatedly deviated from the Straight Path. Our kind has been constantly perverting the Religion of God in various ways throughout the ages. We always turn it into an extractive industry controlled by the corrupt "dogma-dealers" ( &#1606 - the pedophiles who bleed the people dry to live in obscene wealth and luxury.

Praise be to the Almighty Lord of the worlds. Sufficient is He as a witness over all things.
