    Salam

how do you pray/say your duas? Besides from reciting the original arabic, do you speak in your mother-tongue? What do you say?Although I do it everyday after morning Salat I always feel a little bit strange to ask God that much. Its also a little bit what asdfk mentioned, selfishness. Anybody feels the same?

Wishing all of you a peaceful Ramadhan!

      Salaam Warda,

      Why do you say selfishness?
      Where is the selfish part?

Thanks for the good wishes, and you too )

        Salaam Taj

I looked for the word selfish again in the dictionary, I got it wrong. Thats not what I mean. But i cant give you the fitting word either. Its just that I feel uncomfortable asking Rabbina for this and that. .... Its hard to explain for me and this why I ask you, how you feel about it. How do you say your duas.

        Salam

          Salaam Warda,

You know what, Warda? Before I answer you, please allow me to first ask the Moderators to transfer the last few posts regarding the Duaa'a to a new thread that I will start, titled
Is Duaa'a granted? If no, why not?
Because I am afraid that when Raindrop comes back she won't be able to recognize her thread roll
I think the Duaa'a discussion was prompted here by Joe in post #6.

            Salam

besides the question above which I hope somebody will answer to it, Im wondering about something else during the Tarawih in Mekka of the last days the Shayck said while saying the duas that God shall be with the ones who are dying in his name - "iustashhed bi ismika". As we all know there are nowadays such a lot of wrongguided blind people who use the name of Allah for wild killings, raping, kidnapping, ... who have no mercy and who believe in an Islam of "haram - haram- haram ". And the Shayck says his dua for them in the biggest and most important mosque.... Doesnt that say a lot about them?
            !
Salam and nice day for everybody!

              Peace all

What is Dua? Someone define it please before embarking upon the subject for discussion. I think it is a joke to call dua as ' sincere/ insincere ' etc.

                Peace drfazl,

What is Dua? Someone define it please before embarking upon the subject for discussion.

Duaa'a is to call to Allah, to ask Allah for Guidance and for help and whatever we need as long as our need is legitimate.

I think it is a joke to call dua as ' sincere/ insincere ' etc.

                Sura 40 - Ayat 14
                Ghafir (The Forgiver)
                (14
Call ye, then, upon Allah with sincere devotion to Him, even though the Unbelievers may detest it.

                Sura 31 - Ayat 32
                Luqman (Luqman)

                (32

When a wave covers them like the canopy (of clouds), they call to Allah, offering Him sincere devotion. But when He has delivered them safely to land, there are among them those that halt between (right and wrong). But none reject Our Signs except only a perfidious ungrateful (wretch)!

                  Peace be upon you all,

Du'a is described as caling on the God, or prayer. But what is "prayer" for? In my understaidng, "prayer" is to get one to FOCUS. It is a tool for FOCUSING. What you concentrate on begins to manifest in your life.

There is the example of Zachariah, who "prayed" to his Lord, the response was given as he engaged in the learning process(salaat). So we are to focus on something, then start LEARNING about it so we can get the answer.

Regarding sincere "prayer" always being answered, it is only answered when you start STUDYING the topic that you "pray" about. It is not some magical wand. For example, the people who jumped from the world trade center, is there any doubt that they sincerely called on the God to help them? Is there any one of them alive today?

The LAWS are broken for no one. There is NO CHANGE in the way the God deals with the Creation.

                      Peace be upon you Doctor,

Where do you get that from? Can you show an example from the Du'a we see in the reading?

I have shown my exmple of Zachariah FOCUSING on a subject, then enteriing the Salaat(learning process) where the malaika(conrolling thoughts from the God) came to him with the response/understanding.

Please show me how you obtained your understanding.

                        idolfree,

Consider this ayat which asserts the need for Iman that is absolutely abstract and the lone necessity for dua. Those who have iman shall observe patience for, Allah is with those who are patient and who be stead fast in it with perseverance. There are very many verses in Quran to prove this.

                        013.014
YUSUFALI For Him is prayer in Truth(iman, patience and perseverance) any others ( human knowledge ) that they call upon besides Him ( His Wisdom ) give them no answertheir (duas) are like those who stretch forth their hands (typical muslim dua) for water to reach their mouths but it reaches them not and the prayer of those without Iman goes asteray.

                          Peace be upon you,

That verse did not define dua as Patience and perserverance, that verse showed the RESPONSE that comes from the two forms of Dua
                          "calling on the God/focusing".

                            Peace idol,

The response from HIM is only if the call or du'a is for rigteousness. Do you say Allah will respond to the insincere call? No He awaits patiently until you turn to righteousness pleading forgiveness for your sins committed, until a term appointed, by the end of which period the test comes to you from HIM as distress or adversity. Here again you have to make the call, the du'a - only sincerely.

Insincere call is not du'a, for it is like seeking only for his own disaster. Allah denounces insincerity in your du'a.

How do you turn/return unto HIM?
Prior to 'focus'sing on HIM we must know who HE is!
                              Please say who/where/why He is.

If HE is your only Protector; and if HE Guides you by opening up His Wsidom on you, what more do you want to accomplish with your limited and long learning process using a dwarf of a knowledge, worldly?

The fact is Dr, The God's Wisdom is contained in His Scripture, which in itself seems to be a book based on the premise, that one need "wordly knowledge" to read/comprehend IT.

I ask you with all due respect, if you were basically an illiterate, what kind of Wisdom do you think you are capable of attaining, or what Kind of Wisdom can God grant thee?

It is He Who has sent amongst the Unlettered a messenger from among themselves, to rehearse to them His Signs, to sanctify them, and to instruct them in Scripture and Wisdom,- although they had been, before, in manifest error(with their knowledge)-

Watch the word 'unlettered'. To the unlettered people, a messenger from amongst them - which means he was like one among them, to be another like them, but Allahu chose THE MESSENGER for delivering His Wisdom, the scripture, which the messenger shall rehearse to them, the unlettered. See here how the "Wisdom" is granted by Allah to the unlettered people through the unlettered messenger

I think it would be a good time to use some worldly knowledge and deduce the fact that Ummy(translated as illiterate by the traditionals for obvious reasons) contextually and literally means Gentile-unlettered in scripture.

                                      Doctor, it seems like everytime you respoond to me you are asking questions regarding statement that I NEVER said. So I ask once again, WHERE did you see me say that? I only equated "calling on the God" with "focusing", I never stated what he object of FOCUS is. That is up to the one who is giving "du'a". So again, the process is that you have a dilemma, so you focus on it by prayer(du'a), then you get busy STUDYING the subject so that during this LEARNING PROCESS(salaat), the malaika(God's controlling forces which come to us as thoughts), can deliver the solution. The example of Zachariah;

(338-39) At that place and time Zachary called his Lord, he said "My Lord grant/present for me, from at you good descendants, that you are hearing/listening (to) the call/prayer." So the malaiaka called him, while he was maintaing salaat, in the chamber, "That The God announces good new to you with "yahya" confirming with a word from The God and a master and restricting himself (chaste) , and a prophet from the correct/righteous people."

How do you turn/return unto HIM?

                                      Living righteously

Prior to 'focus'sing on HIM we must know who HE is!
                                      Please say who/where/why He is.

I NEVER said to focus on the God, that is impossible. Please have patience brother and make sure you read my posts thouroughly. It seems that you are rushing to "teach us" without taking time to see if there is anything you can learn, respectfully.

                                          Peace be upon you Warda,

I don't say anything inArabic because I speak english, so even if I do say it in Arabic, my thoughts are in english D

WHAT I say depends on what the condition is, I find that most of my "du'a" is for the God to increase me in knowledge.
