    Salaam Wakas,

It may reach, but what do the ayatin/signs say about acceptance?

Where there is sincere Duaa'a, there must be acceptance. The fact that we have been given the gift of Duaa'a is enough of a reassurance of acceptance!

      peace Taj,

Where there is sincere Duaa'a, there must be acceptance.

I agree, IF its for the benefit of oneself. If you are implying sincere duaa'a is accepted, even if its for another, then I want solid evidence from al quran. How do you reconcile your view with 9114 or 980 for example?

The fact that we have been given the gift of Duaa'a is enough of a reassurance of acceptance!

I'm afraid your view conflicts with al quran / logic. Just because we have been given the gift of The Guidance doesn't mean we'll be guided.

My view is that intercession will take place as this is a natural thing for humans to do, but it makes no difference to the ultimate outcome which is determined by The God alone. Also, one is truly humble when they wish for others what they wish for themselves. This mindset is exemplified in al quran itself.

All information is correct to the best of my knowledge only and thus should not be taken as a fact. One should always seek knowledge and verify for themselves when possible: 17:36, 20:114, 35:28, 49:6, 58:11.

        Salaam Wakas,

If you are implying sincere duaa'a is accepted, even if its for another, then I want solid evidence from al quran.

I provided the Ayat earlier in my post to Joe but take a look here , .
Why would Allah give us those examples if it wouldn't work!?

In Ayah it became clear to Prophet Ibraheem that his father is an enemy of Allah. But how did that become clear to him? Did Ibraheem realize that by himself or did Allah expose Ibraheem's father to him? Because there was not a fraction of doubt there. Did he know that by Wahey? I don't know, but it seems that after that, it became pointless of Ibraheem to continue to ask for forgiveness for his father.

We cannot ask forgiveness to Ibless or to Pharaoh, for example, certainly not. Those are clearly enemies of Allah. I did say to Joe earlier that the situation is conditioned.

In the Ayah , Allah is saving Muhammad the Duaa'a because those people don't deserve it. Had Allah not made that clear to Prophet Muhammad, he would have still been asking Allah to forgive them. So in such a situation, even Prophet Muhammad's Duaa'a wouldn't work with such people who are squarely opposing Allah and his Messenger.

I'm afraid your view conflicts with al quran / logic. Just because we have been given the gift of The Guidance doesn't mean we'll be guided.

I disagree. Use that gift and you will be guided. I am surprised that you doubt that.

Exactly. Even if Muhammad made a duaa'a (which I assume would be sincere) for forgiveness on their behalf, it would not be accepted. Thus, is this an example of The God stating sincere duaa'a or not it wont be accepted? Yes or No?
(please note this example is specifically "on their behalf", it is not a duaa'a for oneself)

Use that gift and you will be guided.

I agree, if one truly uses that gift (in this case, the gift being The Guidance). I guess it depends on what you mean by "use". I'm sure many traditional Muslims would say they use The Guidance. I'm sure many so-called Muslim terrorists would say they "use" The Guidance etc.

Mankind has al quran, but how many of mankind will be guided?

All I'm saying is the mere fact that one has something, doesn't mean it will be effective in accomplishing its goal/purpose.

The Duaa'a was definielty sincere, you should be sure of that. There is no room here for assumption, Wakas.
The Ayah is a SIGNAL to Prophet Muhammad to STOP asking Allah to help those enemies of Allah and His Messenger, and not because Muhammad's Duaa'a will not be accepted. Do you imagine that Prophet Muhammad, after receiving this Ayah, continued his Duaa?a? And that is the rule. All Duaa?a will be accepted except that which concerns Allah?s enemies. Allah has exposed His enemies in those Ayat. They are the father of Ibraheem and those Kuffarr around Prophet Muhammad. So who would want to still ask Allah to help them!? Wouldn?t that be considered disobedience and much worse?

The gift is the Duaa'a.The ability to turn to Allah for forgiveness, to express gratitude and to seek guidance. Those three things are secured and guaranteed as long as you have the sincere will and as long as you are not asking for the enemies of Allah, because that would be pointless as we said. Those are the two conditions a Duaa'a will not be accepted; otherwise the door is WIDE OPEN.

Mankind has al quran, but how many of mankind will be guided?

That depends on the sincerity of their will.

Who are the enemies of The God? Do you know which ones are and which are not? I think its clear no-one truly knows, thus no-one knows whether one's duaa'a for others will be accepted or not. We cannot sway The God's decision on others. To think so would be illogical, imho.

                Salaam,

I'm not sure if people here understand the correct du'a. There is du'a coinciding with God's will that shall be done and du'a which is not God's will which will be of no avail to you. Your call must be in line with God's will.

how do you pray/say your duas? Besides from reciting the original arabic, do you speak in your mother-tongue? What do you say?Although I do it everyday after morning Salat I always feel a little bit strange to ask God that much. Its also a little bit what asdfk mentioned, selfishness. Anybody feels the same?

Wishing all of you a peaceful Ramadhan!

                    Why do you say selfishness?
                    Where is the selfish part?

                      Salaam Taj

I looked for the word selfish again in the dictionary, I got it wrong. Thats not what I mean. But i cant give you the fitting word either. Its just that I feel uncomfortable asking Rabbina for this and that. .... Its hard to explain for me and this why I ask you, how you feel about it. How do you say your duas.

                      Salam

                        Salaam Warda,

You know what, Warda? Before I answer you, please allow me to first ask the Moderators to transfer the last few posts regarding the Duaa'a to a new thread that I will start, titled
Is Duaa'a granted? If no, why not?
Because I am afraid that when Raindrop comes back she won't be able to recognize her thread roll
I think the Duaa'a discussion was prompted here by Joe in post #6.

besides the question above which I hope somebody will answer to it, Im wondering about something else during the Tarawih in Mekka of the last days the Shayck said while saying the duas that God shall be with the ones who are dying in his name - "iustashhed bi ismika". As we all know there are nowadays such a lot of wrongguided blind people who use the name of Allah for wild killings, raping, kidnapping, ... who have no mercy and who believe in an Islam of "haram - haram- haram ". And the Shayck says his dua for them in the biggest and most important mosque.... Doesnt that say a lot about them?
                          !
Salam and nice day for everybody!

Duaa'a is to call to Allah, to ask Allah for Guidance and for help and whatever we need as long as our need is legitimate.

                                Peace be upon you all,

Du'a is described as caling on the God, or prayer. But what is "prayer" for? In my understaidng, "prayer" is to get one to FOCUS. It is a tool for FOCUSING. What you concentrate on begins to manifest in your life.

There is the example of Zachariah, who "prayed" to his Lord, the response was given as he engaged in the learning process(salaat). So we are to focus on something, then start LEARNING about it so we can get the answer.

Regarding sincere "prayer" always being answered, it is only answered when you start STUDYING the topic that you "pray" about. It is not some magical wand. For example, the people who jumped from the world trade center, is there any doubt that they sincerely called on the God to help them? Is there any one of them alive today?

The LAWS are broken for no one. There is NO CHANGE in the way the God deals with the Creation.

Where do you get that from? Can you show an example from the Du'a we see in the reading?

I have shown my exmple of Zachariah FOCUSING on a subject, then enteriing the Salaat(learning process) where the malaika(conrolling thoughts from the God) came to him with the response/understanding.

Please show me how you obtained your understanding.

                                      idolfree,

Consider this ayat which asserts the need for Iman that is absolutely abstract and the lone necessity for dua. Those who have iman shall observe patience for, Allah is with those who are patient and who be stead fast in it with perseverance. There are very many verses in Quran to prove this.

                                      013.014
YUSUFALI For Him is prayer in Truth(iman, patience and perseverance) any others ( human knowledge ) that they call upon besides Him ( His Wisdom ) give them no answertheir (duas) are like those who stretch forth their hands (typical muslim dua) for water to reach their mouths but it reaches them not and the prayer of those without Iman goes asteray.

                                        Peace be upon you,

That verse did not define dua as Patience and perserverance, that verse showed the RESPONSE that comes from the two forms of Dua
                                        "calling on the God/focusing".

                                          Peace idol,

The response from HIM is only if the call or du'a is for rigteousness. Do you say Allah will respond to the insincere call? No He awaits patiently until you turn to righteousness pleading forgiveness for your sins committed, until a term appointed, by the end of which period the test comes to you from HIM as distress or adversity. Here again you have to make the call, the du'a - only sincerely.

Insincere call is not du'a, for it is like seeking only for his own disaster. Allah denounces insincerity in your du'a.

                                          drfazl
