Hi, first of all I do believe that capital punishment is not in the Quran; the ayats regarding penalty by causing death or murdering is outlined in 492-93. And there's no penalty there. It doesn't mean that we should walk them free and let them kill more innocent people, GOD's book is not a constitution or a law book, HE approves us having a leader by voting / shura'.

528 "If you extend your hand to kill me, I would not extend my hand against you to kill you. I fear God, the Lord of the worlds."

Taking a life is like taking every life on earth.

So I do believe that the hur, abd and unthe in ayah 2178 are animals just like sis Samia explained. Why would GOD call a woman (nisa) unthe (female). That doesn't make any sense except it's an animal.

Whatever when I looked back and pondered on ayah 1733 yesterday, something caught my eye. Let's translate it word by word

Wala taqtuloo annafsa allateeharrama Allahu illa bilhaqqi
And don't kill any soul that GOD made unlawful to kill except by justice (it is ordered that they could kill only if another life is in danger)

waman qutila mathlooman faqad jaAAalnaliwaliyyihi sultanan
And whoever is murdered we gave his protectors some rights

fala yusrif fee alqatli innahukana mansoora
so don't exceed limits in murder (?) he (the protector) is helped.

Now let's use a comma and see how it can change everything

fala yusrif fee alqatli innahukana mansoora
so don't exceed limits, in murder he (the protector) is helped.

The protectors shouldn't exceed limits just because he is helped in this murder case.

    That's my understanding now.

    Salaam.

All information is correct to the best of my knowledge only and thus should not be taken as a fact. One should always seek knowledge and verify for themselves when possible: 17:36, 20:114, 35:28, 49:6, 58:11.
