      Salaam,

I guess we should avoid people who indulge in polytheistic/idolatrous activities, but if we go entirely on that it would almost be impossible to get married. A Christian person who honestly believes in God but is mislead about the trinity might be a good potential partner nevertheless if it is a good person. A good person who is relatively open-minded may also understand the Truth from a person who is guided, especially if it is someone close like a spouse.

However, a close-minded, orthodox, stubborn person who is very much into following traditional belief systems according to common sectarian teachings might not be the right choice, but it can also be difficult to decide.

But I would say there are many trinitarian Christians that are probably more righteous and a better alternative than some Muslims.

First of all I would say personality and islamic behavior is more important than religious view. You can ironically be showing muslim behavior even as misinformed as believing in the trinity and these people also have a chance of reforming and picking up God's religion without the idolatry once they realize Jesus is not God's son.

I would say many traditional muslims are worse alternatives than many Christians in terms of open-mindedness. Putting Muhammad in a special part of heart is as bad as believing Jesus to be the son of God anyway.

      God bless you

          Peace,

Quran says it is okay to marry righteous men and women from the previous scriptures, ie Nazarenes and Jews, but the question is if you can equal todays Christians or even Jews with those God mentions 1400 years ago.

I would hold fast to my view that as long as they are relatively righteous even if they are Christian, they are okay to marry. The personality is more important than what you call yourself. Look for someone who has the traits mentioned in Quran but is not necessarily a declared muslim, ie peaceful, charitable, kind etc, rather than a rich, stingy, but very successful and attractive man from a traditional human point of view especially for a woman. A such good man who chooses a good woman may be rewarded by God to be put on a straight path.

Avoid devoted atheists I think, but I am not absolutely sure. I think they are difficult to get to believe in God. Also avoid hostile and zealous traditional sectarians who will just ruin your life with their believed tyrannical religious laws.

          God bless you

              Salaam,

Unfortunately I think you will be called this or that by intolerant sectarian muslims, but it is something we have to live with. True Believers during the time of Muhammad were mocked and ridiculed, and so will they be in these ages. In the end they will be the losers. Quran and God explain it very well as you can see if you open the Book.

Just never give in to their threats and warnings that they utter. They think they are guided while they are not. We should almost pity them rather than being angry with them. They only want to make you doubt your Faith, and they confusingly believe you are astray and often they think they do you a favor by trying to pull you with them into the fire of Hell without perceiving.

Sectarian muslims who oppose you are not your allies. The true Believers that are following al-kitaab, the Message, are your allies. They can call themselves Christians, they are closer to you in Faith than Muslims who uphold vain teachings.

The Muslims who follow the same terrible fate as their ancestors who doubted Muhammad and invented hadith books which are just followed up from jewish hearsay are going to say that you have lost islam because they are people without understanding. They just repeat history again. God will certainly punish them, either in this life or the next. God has erased entire communities in the past and He can do it again. This is easy for God.

Be on the safe side, God's side. These people will never lose.

Marry the best man possible and not because he is Muslim, Jew or Christian, as long as he has Faith in God.

              God bless you

                Salam!

Im sorry to say this but I am afraid of sunni og shia muslims. I know i have to ignore it, but i think that will be difficult. If they want to hurt me they can do it. Iam not going to leave the truth islam. I want to die as a real muslim. I love real Islam. Its in mye heart. You have right, we are the real muslims who been mocked. That is very sad, but the reality.

You have right, Allah can punish them. Not us i hope. we follow the real truth.

                God bless you too!

2221 And do not marry the female rejector until they believe. For a believing female servant is better than a rejector even if she attracts you. And do not marry the male rejector until they believe. For a believing male servant is better than a rejector even if he attracts you. Those invite to the Fire, while God is inviting to the Paradise and forgiveness by His consent. He clarifies His revelations for the people that they may remember.

                  So who are Believers

262 Surely those who believe; and those who are Jewish, and the Nazarenes, and the Sabians, whoever of them believes in God and the Last Day and does good works; they will have their recompense with their Lord, and there is no fear upon them, nor will they grieve.

282 And those who believe and do good works, they are the people of Paradise, in it they will abide.

2277 Those who believe and do good works, and hold the contact prayer, and contribute towards purification; they will have their recompense with their Lord and there is no fear over them nor will they grieve.

                  So who are rejectors

737 Who is more wicked than he who invents lies about God, or denies His revelations? These will receive their recompense from the record; so that when Our messengers come to terminate their lives, they will say ?Where are those whom you used to call on besides God?? They said ?They have abandoned us!? And they bore witness upon themselves that they were rejecters.

745 ?The ones who repel from the path of God, and sought to make it crooked; and regarding the Hereafter they were rejecters.?

So what happens when Believers associates with Rejectors

328 Let not the believers take the rejecters as allies instead of the believers. And whoever does so will have nothing with God; for you are to be cautious of them as they deserve. And God warns you of Himself, and to God is the destiny.

4144 O you who believe, do not take the rejecters as allies instead of the believers. Do you want God to have a proof against you?

I strongly believe most of these verses are taking out of context, i have come to notice that the word you translate as rejector (Kaafir) when used in the Quran always has a context in which it is used in the context in which these verses are used. i think the 4.144 is in clear reference to hypocrites in the preceding verses before it and those after it. and we know that hypocrites are not just rejecters they are people with an agenda to distort and destroy God's religion it really has nothing to do with marriage or friendship with non-muslims. So please take note

                      salaam Aaleyah,

So happy for you that you have come to embrace Islam. However I would like to raise a warning sign here. When new to a religion one is still rather insecure and impressionable, and could easily be influenced to this side or that.

Imagine a believing and attractive Christian man that you're really in love with; isn't there a risk that he could sway you, away from Islaam? I would give the matter some very serious, long and deep thought. No need to make a decision now right? ... or is there, perhaps someone special, waiting in the wings? ;D peace

                        What about this verse, 55

Today, the good things have been made lawful to you,
and the food of those who have been given the Book is lawful for you,
                        and your food is lawful for them;
and the independent females from those who are believers,
and the independent females from those who have been given the Book before you,
if you have given them their dowries, to be independent, not for illicit sex or taking lovers.
And whoever rejects belief, then his work has fallen, and in the Hereafter he is of the losers.

Salam aleikum! I wondering what says the Quran about marriage?

                          Some verses

                          Determining mutual attraction/compatibility

Ascertaining whether the potential partner is of similar beliefs/faith

Discussion of and agreeing to the level of dower and other terms (if any)

Understanding and mutual acceptance of marriage as a solemn/strong oath/contract

If male, capable of providing for the family/household

To have physically matured / post-puberty

If the marriage is unsuccessful, one should also be capable of undertaking divorce proceedings, e.g. separation period, arbitration, discussion of settlement etc .

All information is correct to the best of my knowledge only and thus should not be taken as a fact. One should always seek knowledge and verify for themselves when possible: 17:36, 20:114, 35:28, 49:6, 58:11.
