Quran and prophet are the only guidance
-
As salamu alaikum everybody
And follow not (O man, i.e., say not or do not or witness not) that of which you have no knowledge. Verily, the hearing, and the sight, and the heart of each of those ones will be questioned (by All?h).
Allah has given us the book of wisdom the Quran as our guidance. On the day of resurrection He will ask "did you follow it?"
Will you aanswer Oh lord how can we understand your language?
La Ilaha Illa Allahu, Muhammadur Rasulallah(dont go by spelling)
It is one of the five pillars of Islam. The second part ''Muhammadur Rasulallah'' means he is from among the human being selected by Allah to convey His message (revealations) to mankind. He is the only person whom we should obey. Anything spoken by anybody must first be scrutinised whether it is said by him, does it bear the same meaning as that said by the prophet or is it according to the Quran.
Say (O Muhammad ) "I am not a new thing among the Messengers (of All?h, i.e. I am not the first Messenger) nor do I know what will be done with me or with you. I only follow that which is revealed to me, and I am but a plain warner."
There are similar verses in many ayas in the Quran. Whatever he says is from tha Quran (Allah's orders) only. Therefore in the name of hadith there can not be anything which is against or contrary to the Quran. In the sermon delivered during the farewel Hajj the prophet stressed that if the umma follows the Quran and his Sunna the will never go astray. Are we following the Quran? Are we following the Prophet?
The prophet spent his life for reforming and establishing peace and prosperity in the society. The first sunna(t) that we must follow if the cause for what he spent his life.
Many people interprete the Quran as uncreated. Its meaning can not be different from what it was interpreted at the time of the prophet or by the Shahabah. But with the changing social and scientific environment we may now understand many things in a different way. e.g. In surah Fatiha "al amin" was interpreted as " men , jinn and all others" but now we all understand that "al amin" means. It is the universe with all the stars and other bodies. Though the prophet knew the meaning, the umma was ignorant of the outer world even about the earth.
God himself presented the religion of One God (Religion of Abraham as mentioned in the Quran) in different way at the time of Musa (AS), Isa (AS) and Muhammad (SAS). It was because the social and scientific conditions are changing with time. Human understandings also change with time. Interpretations of the Quran should also change with time.
On the other hand obeying somebody does not mean than one should do whatever he did and nothing else. ?We should obey our parents? does not mean that if my father is a tailor I should also be a tailor. Our parents will be happy if we become something great by obeying their guidance.
Similar is the case with the prophet also. In seventh century he established peace in a society, brought unity among the furious Arabs. He developed a social system, an administrative system which was unique and it helped mankind in establishing a peaceful human society.
But are we obeying him in real sense?. If so then why is this hatred among ourselves? Why do we fight among ourselves following different principles laid by different people.
If we all follow the prophet and the Quran, if we try to understand the quran (neglecting old theries) certainly we will unite again. We can establish peace in the world. I request the younger generation to read and try to understand the Quran
This is the Book (the Qur'?n), whereof there is no doubt, a guidance to those who are Al-Muttaq?n .

I believe the "true and actual" narrator is the one who wrote the Books.
It is their story, and not the story of the Prophet or Sahaba.
They are the "true and actual" narrator of the hadith.
Peace.

I do not say that hadiths are false. But it can not be denied that these are errorless.
First because these were collected two hundred years after the death of the prophet, through a chain of narrators. Moreover the prophet himself and the four rightly guided caliphs did not gave permission to write these sayings of the prophet.
Second any personal conversion of the prophet should not be considered as a rule to be followed by all of the future generation.Because, the people to whom the rpophet talked were not ordinary people like us today. they were much above the standard of the most pious men of today. So many of the hadiths contradict the Quran.
e.g. Except those who repent and believe (in Isl?mic Monotheism), and do righteous deeds; for those, All?h will change their sins into good deeds, and All?h is Ever Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.
There are many hadiths which say that if you pray in such and such time your all sins will be forgiven.
I agree that the hadiths may be taken as reference but it should never overrule the ayas of the Quran. The Quran is to be followed and for its understanding of the Quran, if necessary help should be taken of the hadith books.
Thank you -
Salaam,
Thanks for this thread.
Anyway I just hope you'd stop using Mohsin Khan's translation. Please................
His translation is a really strong Salafi influence. Terrible.Use Ahmed Ali or Free-Minds instead.
