What is the meaning of Yahood and Nasara
-
Salaam,
First of all we must know who Yahud and Nasara is and then we can think on what they mean.
Not Jews and Christians are Yahud and Nasara.930
930 And Yahud say, "Uzair is the son of Allah"; and Nasara say, "alMaseeh is the son of Allah." That is their statement from their mouths; they imitate the saying of those who disbelieved. May Allah destroy them; how are they deluded? This aayat clarifies who Yahud and Nasara is. Yahud are only those who say "Uzair is the son of God" and Nasara are only those who say "alMaseeh is the son of God".
My understanding of words Yahud and Nasara are near to yours.
Yahud is derived from the guided ones. And Nasara is derived from the one who helps.May Allah increase our knowledge and guide us on His path pr
mmKhanSalaam sir,
Very very true sir. Yahud are those who associate with Allah(swt) as their saviour.
To understand and identify the false God ??, we are required to know who the is and what it is meant. In order to get that we may refer to the verses of Al-Quran ? 489, 7157, 512 where the root of the word have occurred in Al-Quran.
489 - means Help / Support
7157 ? means Help / Support
512 ? means Help / Support
On contemplation I understand that is the one ?who extend help / support to someone in need?.
I am from India and there is a very popular belief here that people frequently say about someone as ?You are Bhagwan for me? or ?You are an Angel for me sent from Allah(swt) to help me out? or ?Customer is Bhagwan for the businessmen? etc. etc.

2113 - Both Yahud and Nasara demean each other / call each other inferior.
2120 - Both Yahud and Nasara are not ready to budge from their stand unless one starts following them.
367 - Prophet Ibrahim(PBUH) was neither a Yahood or a nasara but strict follower of Allah(swt)'s command.
518 - Bother Yahud and Nasar claim themselves part of Allah(swt).
564 - Yahud nurture the notion that hands of Allah(swt) are fettered.
582 - Yahud by nature are ardent opponent of true believers and Nasara is lesser in intensity.
930 - Both Yahud and Nasara claim that `Uzair and Maseeh are the son of Allah(swt) respectively.551 - Refrain from Yahud and Nasara, as they are friends to each other and are among the zalimeen.
Given the above verses, what could be the suitable meaning of Yahud and Nasara? To my understanding
Yahud = The one who consider oneself the most guided. (or say Fanatic)
Nasara = Overconfident.Corrections are invited.
Uzair ? One who diciplines or punishes to do the right thing.
Maseeh ? One who journeys or goes about much for the sake of devotion, or as a devotee.Remebering jews used to stone people and Jesus used to go around as a devotee helping other.
children of God - actualy there are some Muslims who are taught this as the correct way.
Thanks for the topic.

MehjabeenSalaam Mehjabeen,
Thanks for the references from aayaat. But I think, in 930 and in 512 is different. If you notice has a small tashdeed on with means there are two in the word .
For example Please take a look at the following.
727
727 And they had thought, as you thought, that Allah would never send anyoneHere you can see same word written in two different ways. But still both means same. The blue one shows that two s can be written with a single with tashdeed on it. Hence, in 930 is different than all the words used in 512, 7157 and 489.
Hope you understand what I am trying to say inshaAllah.
May Allah increase our knowledge and guide us all on His path pr

Salaam Sir,
Similarly, Nasara are those who associate with Allah(swt) as their saviour.
To understand and identify the false God ??, we are required to know who the is and what it is meant. In order to get that I may refer to the verses of Al-Quran ? 443 and 56 where the root of the word has occurred.
443 (Root Word - ح ? To me, it is understood as ? Alternate methods / Non conventional methods to tide over the situation.
56 (Root Word - ح ? To me, it is understood as ? Alternate methods / Non conventional methods to tide over the situation.
On contemplation I understand that is the one ?who are capable by the Grace of Allah(swt) in providing quick alternate methods / non-conventional methods to tide over the emergent situations.?
I am from India and there is a very popular belief here to search for ?Jugaad? in the time of emergency. Whenever people are clueless, they look for that ?Jugaad? and those who was capable in producing the required ?Jugaad?, they are hailed like anything. To have further understanding about the term Judaad, one may refer to - http//en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jugaad

Salaam brother Earthworm,
To the best of my knowledge, I understand that Yahud and Nasara are not restricted to a particular religious group but any member of the human who nurtures belief that a false God ('uzair or Al-Maseeh etc.) has bonafide affiliation from Allah to act as saviour on His behalf. Even a label Muslim can be Yahud or Nasara depending upon his practice.
In India, 'Sankat Mochak' called Hanuman is worshiped as God in the form of idol worship. Apart from that whoever from the member of human having abilities of providing quick solutions in trying times are termed as 'Sankat Mochak' (you can say 'Al-Maseeh' and is revered like anything.

Very very true sir. Yahud are those who associate with Allah(swt) as their saviour.
489 - means Help / Support
7157 ? means Help / Support
512 ? means Help / Support
After knowing the roots of a word then what we must do is look the surrounding sentence, so we will get the proper meaning for thar word. This is very important if we want read Arabic without harakat.
This is words which use root ,
-
= denounce, repoarch
-
= rebuke, reprimand, censure
Brother, I'm confused because there is nothing such like support/help= .I try search it in my dictionaries again but do not find it.
I think what you mean in verse 7157 is not support but glory.
Glory = (izzun) from roots and only withaut ra'.So the proper translation of azzaruhu in 7157 is "glory him" not "support him".Now the word Uzair in 930.This word written as (Uzairun).
According to corpusquran it's proper noun (isim alam) and this word is isim marfu (nominative word) by looking dhammah in the last huruf.Al Uzair is Ezra in english, one of the Judaism Phropet.
Similarly, Nasara are those who associate with Allah(swt) as their saviour.
Nasara ( ) according Lane Lexicon referring to "Christian".And the Al-Masih (Messias) in the Quran reffering to Isa/Yesus (345, 4157, 4171, 517 etc)
You may also notice sentence such like "Al-Masih Ibn Maryam".
The conclusion is Yahudi and Nasara still means Judaism and Christian
In India, 'Sankat Mochak' called Hanuman is worshiped as God in the form of idol worship. Apart from that whoever from the member of human having abilities of providing quick solutions in trying times are termed as 'Sankat Mochak' (you can say 'Al-Maseeh' and is revered like anything.
Do you know "Hanuman" (god with monkey face) is very popular in my country )??
My country have similiar culture with you especially in former Hindhu majority islands (Java, Bali etc).Indonesia is former Hindhu majority before Islam replace it in 1500s.The proof is you cind find Hindhu temples in here.
Another mythology which is very popular is Rama & Shinta. Not only cultures but some of mine language was adopted from yours.
Om Shanti Shanti Om (atleast you know this word ;D)

Like I said before if Arabic words will have different meaning and different harakat based on the sentence and conteks.
Ayn-Zay-Ra = to prevent, turn away, reprehend, support, assist. Uzayr/Uzair (Ezra) - he lived in the 5th century B.C. and was considered to be the son of God by elements of the Jewish people
.I never met that "azzaru", just try to re-open Lane Lexicon or another dictionaries.
I try to open my Arab-Indonesian dictionary, but I just found that "izzun" (glory) from ayn with kasrah and zay without ra'.
Btw the word Uzair have different harakat with azzarun -
OK fine brother Earthworm, Salaam!
