As far as I can judge, obvious sexual kissing in films and acting is usually completely unnecessary and meaningless. It is just apying service to the fashion of exhibiting sex no matter what, even f it doe snot add anything, even if it is utterly boring, even if it means more tape minutes and come sout expensive. It is a duty. Kissing and bedbusiness in film and tv industry seems to be a tax everybody feels the obligation to pay. Better films and better paced could be made getting rid of that extra idiocy that adds nothing and takes away the action.

    I second that.

Related with this matter, I suppose the muslim actor/actress who accept the Qur'an as guidance should pay attention to 2430-31.

However, I realize that the Qur'an interpretation may become different on each people's view.

So, maybe I shouldn't feel surprised anymore if there are 'muslims' who think it's OK to do kissing scene in films arguing that their intention is purely to perform their role as good professional actor/actress.

Oh well, if they already said something like that, I guess what I can say is Ok, it's their choice. There are no compulsion on them to follow what I believe.

Allah knows what are in their hearts and what is in my heart. AFAIK, commonly, people don't like being judged by other people.

    Peace.

I think it can even go as deep as saying what type of film are they participating in and how are they playing the role. Perhaps, it is a love story that is more involved with "pure" love. What I mean is, the films where people are at it like rabbits is something I don't understand, nor do I like it, nor do I think it's right, and if I were an actress I wouldn't do it. However, if I were an actress and the film I was in was a really touching love story where it wasn't really sexual and the kissing was meant to show a purity in the love, then I wouldn't see too much wrong in it. It all comes down to using the logic in your brain and also what your intentions are. But you're right, there is no compulsion in the deen/system of life/ attitude to life. It is up to people to go with what they feel guided towards. But I think it depends on many things apart from just sharing a kiss IMO.

      peace

How do you say acting is not haram when it involves a person not being truthful and pretend to be something he is not?

O you who believe! Why do you say that which you do not do? Most hateful it is with Allah that you say that which you do not do. Sura 612-3

Acting is a form of entertainment which involves pretending.

Say "No reward do I ask of you for this (Qur'an), nor am I a pretender." (Sura 3886)

As believing Muslims, we should have utmost care to separate ourselves from the evil culture and habits of the disbelievers. Muslims are those people who stay away from evil things like cinemas, theaters, and other vain activities which drive people away from the remembrance and fear of Allah.

But there are, among men, those who purchase idle tales, without knowledge (or meaning), to mislead (men) from the Path of Allah and throw ridicule (on the Path) for such there will be a Humiliating Penalty. (Sura 316)

How can you say it is allowed for Muslims to engage in this ridiculous theater and acting business which has no benefit for either a person's faith and no benefit for humanity. It is a waste of time. Also, as the original poster said, his acting involves lewd and immoral activity such as kissing a woman. Do you honestly think Allah Holy and Majestic is He would ever sanction such satanic behavior?

        Dear Israfeel,

I completely agree with you bro Israfeel.
In the guise of rejecting hadiths people here are going overboard and it has become a fashion statement to reject everything.
Anything which leads you away from the remembrance of Allah is haram.

But I am also rejecting all of man-made hadiths (totally reject them all), and it's not for guise.

I don't support kissing between unmarried couple/partner, because I have sense that Allah does not favor something like that.

In addition, I think it is also not in line with God's command in the Qur'an .

          Peace. peace

Perhaps, it is a love story that is more involved with "pure" love.

I suppose I understand what you mean on the above.

I think the word "pure" is related with something virtuous and clean.

So, for me (what I see and feel), the love story in movie/film/show is not pure, it's a fake, unless perhaps if the movie scenes performed truthfully by the real people who experience it, so they are acting for their own true love story.

What I know usually they are actor and actress who are paid, and they might have done many kissing scenes with other actors/actresses in another love story movies.

However, if I were an actress and the film I was in was a really touching love story where it wasn't really sexual and the kissing was meant to show a purity in the love, then I wouldn't see too much wrong in it. I believe God knows the exact value of a deed, and related with this matter, I don't know whether it's too much wrong or it's just little wrong.

I just feel there is something wrong with it, because

            1. I sense that Allah does not favor it (kissing between unmarried couple/partner).

            2. Personally, I think it is also not in line with God's command in the Qur'an .

So, I think there is alignment between what I sense and God's command in the Qur'an.

It is up to people to go with what they feel guided towards.

That's why I think it's up to me to choose listen to my sense.

            Peace. peace

I personally see no wrong in kissing someone who you are coupled with (even if unmarried - though we can go into what "marriage" is for some people and not the "traditional" marriage we know). 2430-31 is simply talking about dress code and being modest. God is basically saying not to go looking for men/women i.e. stating a dress code and guarding your private parts. If you put it into practice it makes sense. Me personally i've only had one long term relationship with a guy and we shared mostly everything in many different ways. It doesn't mean it's "wrong" or not right. Being in a relationship with a partner means you're committing yourself to them, being loyal to them and sharing your life with them. Though when it comes to acting, it's usual a portrayal of real life events where the "real" people might not be able to act it out as they would like to or they don't want to be on TV for it.

Do you not ever like a good romance movie once in a while?

But remember, your intentions are the main thing, and also knowing yourself is important too. If you know what you are, and you know your intentions are good, then God can't really condemn you if your thoughts are pure - though we might do things out of ignorance but it's up to us to judge as best as we can with what God has given us i.e. the reading.

              peace

So, we're having different view in this matter. I have no problem as long I keep hold mine. We responsible for our own deeds. D

                Agree, of course.

But whether the kind of commitment is related with kissing between unmarried couple? I don't think so. )

2430-31 is simply talking about dress code and being modest.

I think for me being modest is not only about dress code, for me it also include modest conduct (modest behavior) such as to hold oneself from kissing someone who are not the legal spouse (husband/wife).

So do you think kissing between unmarried couple is modest conduct?

Do you not ever like a good romance movie once in a while?

I don't think the romance movie which played by human actor/actress is something good, because if the film is played by real people, then I more likely feel tricked by the film, because I realized they were just acting, pretending to love.

I prefer to read or listen about the true love story, not film. True love stories are indeed beautiful.

But remember, your intentions are the main thing, and also knowing yourself is important too.

                Indeed.

That's why my intention as human is that I should obey Allah and try to practice what I believe.

So, when I know that I believe such conduct is wrong, then I better hold myself for not doing it because I know that Allah does not favor it. It's simple.

I know that myself should obey God and should try to follow the best meaning that I can understand from Qur'an verses.

                Peace. peace

Well as i said i was in a relationship for 2 years. We kissed etc and we were in love. I suppose it depends on your definition of marriage and your understanding of MMA (who you have sworn an oath to). It really depends on how you interpret it. What are the requirements of "marriage"? I know that one important part is having 2 witnesses (obviously these two witnesses would be other people and not you and the other partner involved). I do think it is modest conduct. You're not harming anyone, you're both loyal and dedicated and COMMITTED (important) to eachother, and you've sworn an oath (indirectly or directly) to eachother. Think about what marriage actually consists of. What joins 2 people together. There's a difference between being in a "relationship" for sex or you're not serious about it and your intentions are not to be with the person for the rest of your life. The intentions should be that this is your life term partner.

But as I said, depends on your definition of marriage and also what you see MMAs as.

Think about it - 2 people who really love eachother but don't want to perform the "traditional marriage" because of one complication or another, but many people know about your relationship, you've bought and exchanged gifts to eachother (and the families have done to you for birthdays or just pure kindness), do you think this voids the relationship? Is kissing still wrong between a couple with intentions as such? I'd say it's harsh - Allah knows what is in our hearts.

But we can agree to disagree with you want. . I just wouldn't agree with saying it's immoral - I have quite a lot of morals in this respect (i live in the UK and i've seen most people are nothing like how I uphold myself) so I'm quite strong on my views. I hope I haven't said anything out of line .

                  peace

Don't worry, I don't command you to stop doing what you think is right.

Also, as I recall, I never said that bold word in this thread. Just relax.

Ah sorry, putting words in your mouth. Haha no of course not xD, only God can tell me, and when I feel something is wrong, I usually stop it - or I see the consequences. I learn either way as we all do . I'm actually writing a romantic novel... so I agree when it comes to reading about these things than watching it. I don't know where you are located but when I'm watching TV in the UK it's so often you see people just having sex in the films or whatever.... really annoys me. For me, watching kissing is bearable, but damn... we get some crap on TV ?__?..

                      peace

                      PS I am relaxed
