Salam, sad to hear your story, so similar to many others I've heard.

I must be very fortunate to have parents who accept me for who I am, I hope yours too can accept you for who you are.

Yeah it is indeed sad but i thought i was the alone one feeling this way but when i seen a whole community dedicated to seeking the truth it just made me HAPPY I tell people the book that caught my heart is the Quran and not the hadith

                Peace!

                Welcome!

Your story is very inspiring. I'm so glad you're the type of person to stand up for what is right. Hopefully your parents will come around eventually. I pray they also find the truth that you've found.

I remember when I had to first tell my parents I wasn't a christian any more. My Daddy was soooo angry. Now he's very proud to have a muslim daughter because it's our love for God that binds us together.

Salam everyone im new to here and im trying to get detach from tradition the thing i was doing wasn't religion is more tradition i come from a sunni family like my father is well known and so is my family because they are so active in there sect (sunni) and for me i just accepted it but i always felt detach like i didnt get it the whole hadith thing...... i remember one incident where i was helping my father at the masjid and the topic was on women and there were talking about how a women needs to do this and that and how the prophet approved of this i was already a feminist and i was all for women rights but what heard was just shocking and i looked at my dad and just thought how the heck can he support this so i start doing my own research about hadith Quran life and just everything and what i found out made me sick like i didn't want to believe it...... I just wanted to lie to myself but i couldn't and it was a hard pill to swallow but i had to tell my dad and my mom about this and how it was tradition not true religion......i try to tell them but they kind of ignored me in a way but i dont give up i spoke my mind i told my parents whether you like it or not im not calling myself sunni anymore and im not going to follow the hadith anymore. My father was angry but i didn't care because when im passionate about something i don't shy away from it i go in head first and thats what i did i love my father and it may take years for him to see it but i wont give up

peace everyone hope i didn't bore you with my story

Salaamun alayki sister and welcome to the forum handshake

                  Not boring at all )

I hope you will like it here.

                          Salam Loveleen welcome

You hit the jackpot there, it's all about Tradition.
Tradition which passed down (and modified as it goes along) through generations.
Your dad didn't invent those ridiculous things, he got those from tradition.

From the day that he was born, he was repeatedly being thought by his society to maintain and keep the tradition and pass it down to his children, among them I believe is you. Things might be different if he was born in different society.

Among other type of transformation, cultural transformation is the most difficult.
And that's what Muhammad, Jesus, Abraham and countless of others in the past tried to do.. instigating cultural transformation within their respective society. They need to deal with insult, death threat and torture just because their thought are not inline with 'tradition'.

No matter how 'sound' Abraham's argumentation is, it will not be accepted by his society thus he was convicted to death by burning, just because his thought is not inline with 'tradition'.

May God protect you and grant you His wisdom

                          Salam / Peace

                              Welcome!

I find it amazing and interesting to see how our lives are made up of different components that we confuse, mix and mistake for each other.
Religion, culture, spirituality/humanity (the real one)... are often jumbled up and confused. They are three distinct and different things that are superimposed on each other, quite naturally, in our lives. The problem arises when we cannot tell them apart. Another most important ingredient in the soup of our life is our own thought patterns and neuro-pathways in our brain, which dictate how and what we think of things. When we fail to understand how we are an integral part of our surrounding (although we usually deny it) we are left stuck. Anyhow, just had to say that.

You might find many wondrous ideas and information on this forum. I've come to realize that we find exactly those things that we are ready for. Just pray to The Creator for forgiveness (This is the number One thing we all should do all the time!), purification and truthful insights. This will bring peace! In my opinion, life can just get better and better!

                              Peace!
